Qu about Cocoon

Hi people

Ive seen lots of people on this board describe Cocoon as one of their favourite nights on the Island etc...in general all I have read is positive things.

To be honest im quite up for going ( on the 8th of July with Ricardo Villalobos
Richie Hawtin &Sven Väth but still unsure. Could someone tell me a little more about it pls?

Im not really into techno as such.. but am pretty open minded. Went and got myself an Ibiza Cocoon Mix Cd today and on 1st impressions not blown away. Bit repetitive sounding without the deep / dirty house sounds I normally love.

So to get to the point I am wondering whether I will enjoy Cocoon given the type of music at WLS etc is more my thing. I.e are the guys on here saying it is an awesome night big fans of that type of sound in general or is it more about the atmosphere and crowd at the night (I imagine it would get a pretty dedicated as opposed to a casual clubber type of crowd?)

My two mates Im going with are more inclined to go release yourself but given that ive seen mr Sanchez enough (on an hourly basis given his marathon sets) IM keen to spread my wings (without ending up sitting there thinking what a waste of 50 euros!

well i'm one of those who would say its one of my favourite nights on the island... it is def a great party... I don't think you can even judge the kind of music it will be based on the CDs... i have all the cocoon , sound of the 2nd 2rd...6th season' and the music is more pumping ( IMO) than what is on the cd..

it is a fantastic atmosphere.... i'm sure you will enjoy it... if you've already had enough of sanchez... then try it out for a night..
 
cocoon is moslty german based obviously coz of Sven ,i had the best night ive had in ibiza in there in 2002 my first time in the place so my advice to you is to go for it and expect the unexpected the sounds will be immense with Hawtin and villilobos although Sven can get a bit tranct at the end of his sets........good luck8)
 
I really want to go to cocoon this year but the week I am in Ibiza 11th -18th July seems that a few of the main men arent there:

Karotte
Tobi Neumann
Will this still be similar to a normal cocoon night? Ideally I would like to see Sven Vath but im only there for a week.
 
Hi, you'll def like the trip, just go there and xpect the unexpectable ;-) trust me! Good music, good vibe and a lot of people dancin'
 
Cocoon is a very respectable night which is all about the music.

Now....... I like Cocoon but I know what you mean about the music, it can be very repetitive. You can stand there on the dance floor just waiting for the good bit to happen.... Also the crowd is very serious *said in a deep voice* But.... saying that :) I would still say go!

The last time I went I was stone cold sober 8O , and with that sort of music your mind needs to be enhanced.

Miss Kittin is currently one of if not 'the' best djs on the planet at the moment so I'd say you're doing quite well there. ;)
 
I'm not there for the music, just the atmosphere, and I want to see Sven Vath do something mental, like climb the roof, or throw a freshly laid $hit at the bouncers.
 
I think the music is absolutely brilliant. It's nothing like the cd's - its much more pumping than that. It's pure banging techno - but not the bleep bleep kind that you think. I can't quite describe it, its just really good music :) The crowd are brilliant too, it really goes off in there. I was apprehensive at first too, I thought "German techno?! I dont think I'll like it :? " But like you I'd seen so many people saying how it's the best night on the island so I decided to give it a try. Anyway they were right, it definately is the best night on the island... 3 years on and I've never been to Roger Sanchez since :lol:
 
some of Sven Vath's stuff is trancey, and it all sounds good through Amnesia's system.
The terrace is great for some head-f*ck minimal stuff, and Coco Loco's !

The atmosphere is great - and you always get value for money from Sven.
The closing in 2004, with him sat on the balcony pouring champagne over everyone was one of my lifetime clubbing moments, as was "Manic Monday" at 12 in the afternoon last year !!!

I can't wait for the opening in a few weeks.

Ill have to go to work on my mates...especially the one who thinks its just going to be a showcase for some dodgy mullets!

Anyway I hope it is banging and not of the bleeping sound. Dont think being "sober" is the way forward however!

Its going to be our first day proper there (arrive Sun night) so I think with DC10 followed by Cocoon I think we'll find the rest of the trip a little tame!

you mean she is playing the most popular music at the minute, she is good but hardly the best dj on the planet, her mixing is often ropey as fcuk.

yep tell me about it. Cocoon is now part of visiting Ibiza along with WLS. I actually think the last few "Sound of the " albums have not been minimal at all.

words cant really explain it, neither can listening to a sven cd. Being part of the atmosphere is unexplainable
