Pukka Pies

Given Ibiza's Internationally Renowned Gastronomie delights why would someone want to eat a Pukka Pie when over there? But if one is that desperate than perhaps the link below might wet their appetite?

White Island Corner Shop: British groceries, gluten and wheat free products, English frozen ready meals, hot pukka pies and fresh sandwiches to take away. Open every day. Calle Juan Tur. Edificio Punta De Mayol, Local 9, 16 Santa Eulalia del Rio, Ibiza.

Tel: 617 833 301 / 617 833 302

port des torrent

Where in port des torrent ?.. pete the butcher in san antonio supplies quite a few bars along the bay with pukka pies..:D

I won't lie, I have had the odd pukka pie,not that you'd notice :p and can understand that long term brits on the island might crave such food for nostalgic reasons.....
but really they're not that great,I can honestly say I have never worried about getting a brit pie before going, or thinking about brit brands when there. Eat local !!

ps. I've had various pies from bakeries, markets etc, usually quite good.

I have lived on mainland spain for ten years dave, on the whole, i find spanish food bland and tasteless, with regard to gastronomic excelence, food at one of the " best places on the costa blanca "put me in bed for 3 days.

I enjoy inidan, chinese and italian food, but if i am eating a basic meal at home, i probably prefer English food most of the time.

are you one of these blokes who thinks ex pat brits must come to spain drink gallons of red wine and olive oil, only speak spanish and go to dreadful displays of flamenco dancing???

thanks for the responses guys and thanks dave for link

kev:)

just a quickie don

i do love it when you throw a local made pie in the oven, get the chips and gravy on the go, get it on the plate cut it open and discover its chocolate,

ok it only happened once

:)

Ibizan cuisine is a bit more Mediterranean than the mainland. Lots of great food on the island if you know where to look.

As someone who has lived overseas for 15 years, I will say that it is more important to connect with the place you're living than to hold on for dear life to everything from back home. I will just as quickly have a bowl of plov or a plate of khinkali as I will grab a burger.

I'll admit - my visits to Ibiza will, over 10-14 days, often include one Chinese or Indian meal and maybe a guilty snack or two from Burger King or KFC, but you're really robbing yourself of the joy of traveling if you don't eat the local food.

I tried to eat this "thing" one day in England.I understood this day why our two country are fighting since centuries.

Hi guys

i'm coming for 6 months, i will try everything

i promise,

( well not everything, you know)

its all very well saying embrace the culture and connect, but sometimes you want what you want dont you?, thats why i expect many brits there will still watch brit tv and sport etc , just the same for me with my important dietary needs

is there a foody recommends section on here?? or are these a no no

Six months. Lucky you :D

There's a sticky thread with restaurant reviews above. I've cut & paste all my eating-related notes from various trip reviews into there.

Feel free to add to it once you're on the island! ;)

Thanks Morbyd

hi grego, not bland thats unfair, i just like spice in my food and i think the cuisine lacks " heat" at times,

no offence intended

:)
