PRS to sue Soundcloud

Websites come and go.

I think its a shame cause i remember soundcloud being an exciting place for bedroom producers and established artists to share music, ideas, feedback etc.

Looks like its a victim of its own success.

They are essentially very similar.

But you can't download sets on Mixcloud whereas on SoundCloud the uploader has the opportunity to provide the download link.

More crucially, Mixcloud actually use the money they make to pay royalties for the music uploaded. It's been set up more specifically for DJs uploading sets. So there's no threat to MixCloud.

I've been led to believe that SoundCloud was never intended for the sharing of DJ sets but people (including myself) have used it for that purpose anyway.
 
Mixcloud rippers exist. I won't share them (legality reasons) but they are handy.

Soundcloud was never designed for podcasts etc. A lot of people are very upset by the fact that they are having their mixes taken down.
But that's how it works... it's for new single tracks you produce yourself. Hopefully this will push them to the correct side of the UK law.

UK Law is pretty hazey on this subject. Unless its changed, Itunes is actually illegal under UK law...

I would. Transferred over all Transcend related mixes a couple of years ago, glad I did.
