Prince's Croke Park concert cancelled

It has been announced that the Prince concert, due to take place in Croke Park on Monday 16 June, has been cancelled.
In a press release the promoter MCD said that the gig was cancelled due to reasons "beyond the control of Prince and MCD Productions".
MCD also said that plans were underway to reschedule the concert for 2009 but no details have been confirmed.

I know someone who lives outside Dublin had taken the Monday and Tuesday off work and had booked and paid for a Hotel on the Monday nite for this as it was to far too travel home on the Monday after the concert, they are gonna be very angry over this and rightly so, no one knows the exact reason why this has been cancelled, 2 possible scenarios are that there are only a certain amount of concerts allowed per year at Croke Park and this didn't get planning permission which if true is shocking and MCD should be lambasted about this as they should've known in advance, another rumour going around is that ticket sales were bad, only 55,000 apparently sold out of 80.000 which is not surprising considering the obscene price they cost.

Id sooner see Iggy myself anwyay ;)

According to the promoters "a limited number of extra tickets" have just been released.
"Extra tickets" despite the fact that the original bunch hadn't sold-out!
Anyhow, support is from The Kills and Stiff Little Fingers and it should be a great show. Hell, you'll probably even get a chance to invade the stage.
