Polite Request for DJs Posting Mixes

Firstly, I think bigtime kudos are in order for the guys that pratice the dark DJing arts, put in the time and effort to record their compliations, and then go that extra mile to give us Spotlighters a chance to hear them. You all rock.

Just one big request regarding your tracklists - is there anyway you could put a timecode down for each track? Kinda like this:

00:00 Song one - Chewie feat. Nitefly (label if you want)
05:64 Future big hit - Mark Sun & Stu Hirst (Harlem records)

It would take you about 2 minutes to do but would really help out those of us with too few braincells left working (or too many distractions) to keep track of which song is up next, especially when there might be songs we don't know. It would also help us go back and listen to songs we quite liked.

The alternative, of course, would be to break down your mixes by song into multiple mp3s and make them available as a .zip file, but that'd be a lot more work.

I was prompted to post this following the release of some killer mixes in the past few days from several of our resident DJs. Good work, gentlemen.

Thank you all, and goodnight. 8)

Good idea Morbyd.

A little more work for our ressie DJ's but would save us lots of time trackmarking.

Takes me several attempts sometimes to find that exact moment of transition

Keep 'em coming though!

:D

Are you 2 serious?

If you want CD's with tracklists and markers then go and buy some! And if you don't know what a track is then do some homework!

I like listening to the board djs to hear their style/talent, not so they can find my mp3s for me! ;)

We do as well, Stuie. The talent is in the mixing, track selection and mastering. What's wrong with wanting to better appreciate it?

Sometimes it's not so easy to figure out when the transitions are happening and sometimes songs evolve and you think it's a new tune.

For the person whose mixed it, it really takes a minute to jump through the file and figure out an approximate transition time.

And as soon as some of these guys put out CDs, we will buy them!

.

With my fluffy mixing I'm suprised it's a problem

Will timestamp my tracklist after I finish listening to Anil's show :)

If you're not listening, tune in it's WICKED :D

I'm sensing some sarcasm Morbyd, aren't you?

They're young and can obviously still remember the name, artist and tune of every song they've heard.

We adults, on the other hand, need some help with such things nowadays

Whatever... it makes sense to me and I'd do it if I were DJing, so their opinions and sarcasm are of little consequence. It's not a case of beggars being choosers, it's a matter of wanting to better appreciate a fine compilation.

When you go to a club do you ask the DJ for a tracklist to better appreciate their set?

No, you just enjoy the set  ;)

I don't think asking for a tracklisting is rude at all. I ask out of curiosity, not to belittle or discount the DJ's set in any way. :P

I love it when someone comes up and asks what a tune is (especially if it's one of mine ;) )

Means people are listening and appreciating :)

Most of the DJs here put tracklistings up as well so timestamping just makes sure people can follow the tracklisting :)

Mind you if I was in a lazy mood you'd be on your own
