Please help me plan my honeymoon in Ibiza!

Hello,

My finacé and I are from Cincinnati, Ohio, USA and we're flying to Europe for our honeymoon this July. We've both been huge fans of electronic music for the past 9 years, so we're tailoring this honeymoon to our personalities...4 days in Amsterdam for some chilled out fun, a 3 day weekend in London where we'll hopefully find a rave, and then 5 days in Ibiza for relaxing in the sun and clubbing at night.

We booked our flights, but now we need to choose a place to stay. Right now we're just trying to narrow down our choices to an area of the island. We want to stay on a beach so we can relax and enjoy the beautiful weather during the day, but we also want to be close to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife so it will be easy to get to and from late night and early morning club events. We're looking for a hotel in the 3-4 star range...we probably can't afford 5 star, but we want to be as comfortable as possible on our honeymoon.

Can anyone suggest an area of the island or a particular hotel that might work for us? Are there any all-inclusive hotels (food and drink included in the price)?

Thanks everyone! We can hardly wait to get there to sun ourselves all day and dance all night! :)

*peace*
Jillian

playa den bossa is just right for you.use feista hotels to stay in.any will do all the same good quilty.right near space night club/bora bora beach bar.near ibiza town.not far from airport.you can book diy at hotel.fiestahotelgroup.your not far from anywhere really.a short bus or taxi ride way from heaven...best of luck

hmmmmm. call me an old romantic but i think your honeymoon should be a little bit special.............

so i would not dream of going all inclusive when ibiza is full of fabulous bars and restaurants with excellent food and real alcoholic drinks at very reasonable prices.

neither would i go to playa den bossa. if i was on a budget but wanted proximity to a nice beach, clubs and shopping i'd head for talamanca which ticks all the boxes and has a slightly more 'upmarket' feel to it than pdb.

why not browse our accommodation section?

Thanks for the feedback! We're having a tough time with this decision because we know we'll want to be involved in the club scene some of the time, but we also want to enjoy a nice, quiet hotel, pool, and beach.

We were considering Talamanca originally because it looked more calm than PDB, but it didn't look like there were many restaurants, bars, and shops nearby and it's a bit further from the clubs that we'd really like to visit. Is there good public transportation to and from Talamanca to all the clubs on the island? Any hotels in that area you'd recommend to check out or avoid?

In PDB we were considering Aparthotel Club Garbi for its proximity to Bora Bora and Space, because there are lots of restaurants, bars, etc. close by, and because we'd probably meet a lot of younger people there who also came for the club scene. On the other hand, we're afraid it won't be relaxing enough or nice enough if it's right in the middle of all the clubbing action.

About a mile up the coast we were looking at Sirenis Hotel Club Goleta, which appears to be more upscale (with a price tag to match, unfortunately), but we thought it might be a bit calmer for those times we just want to kick back and enjoy our surroundings. Of course, with the prices we'd be paying there, I don't think we'd run into too many other club kids on vacation (good for peace and quiet, but bad for making friends), and I'm not sure how the hotel staff / door person will take to a couple of twenty-somethings showing up back at their hotel after endless hours of partying! Does anyone have experience with this hotel?

Finally, the other hotel we looked at was the Hotel Nautico Ebeso. It's close to Ibiza Town, but still on the South side, so we're guessing it would have good public transporation to the places and clubs we want to visit. I can't tell if there is beach access fromt he hotel though, and I've read some mixed reviews about it...some people loved it and others didn't.

Thanks again for any feedback! :)

We stayed at the Garbi Hotel in 2005 and it's good for proxmity to Space and Bora Bora of course and as a place to lay your head but as Stephen said I wouldn't recommend PDB other than that and definitely second the restaurant comment! There really are some fantastic restaurants in Ibiza

We're going for Talamanca this year and staying at...

http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/argos/

and it also has the plus of not being to far away from Pacha!

I've stayed at El Corso in Talamanca twice and I would recommend it. It's comfortable, has a bar that looks out on the harbor and Dalt Vila (Ibiza's old town). It's a 5 minute walk to Talamanca beach, and there are a couple of nice restaraunts right nearby. (http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/greenoasis-elcorso/index_i.html)

There's also a convenient shuttle boat service every half hour from the marina right outside the hotel. It takes you across the harbor to Ibiza Town, where there's shops, restaurants, bars and the Dalt Vila. At night, it also has a 3rd stop next to the club El Divino (and 2 blocks from Pacha) so you can go downtown for drinks and then hop over to the clubs. It's a very nice morning walk home from Pacha & El Div to El Corso.

We've stayed at Gaudi in PdB for the past 2 years. It's great value and very convenient for Space & Bora Bora. They've got twin beds in their doubles, though, so I'm not sure that's best for a honeymoon ;) We've always had a room facing the courtyard and I've enjoyed sitting out on our balcony staring at the sea.

Getting from Talamanca to PdB by public transport isn't quite so easy (I guess you'd hop over to Ibiza Town and then get a bus to PdB) but it's your honeymoon so splurge for a taxi! :D Or rent a car for your stay - highly recommended for forays to different beaches or over to San Antonio or Cala d'Hort for the sunset, or to Santa Eulalia for a nice afternoon stroll.

I don't know what it's like and I haven't read any comments on it but as ur honeymoon probably should be something really special, u might consider EL HOTEL DE PACHA. It is pricey but hey, maybe u r so fascinated that u say "ok, that's (hopefully) once in a lifetime..." ;)

Note: I cannot afford it myself, so it's just a suggestion but I noticed that it is probably the best-looking, newest hotel in IBZ town...

how about a villa

we stayed in a great villa right opposite vedra it was owned by an artist and had lovley furnishing and art/scultures plus it had an infinity pool. it was quite isolated but very romantic you would need a car!
if you fancy a nice hotel then es vive is nice but busy or hacienda na xamena, or el hotel (free entrancde to pacha inclded i think!) are all good.

whatever you choose you will have a great time!!!!

no advice about hotels but you should go hot air balooning- i think you can do that on ibiza. would be a cool way to see the island, if thats not possible go parasailing/gliding-very romantic.

this is from sta getrudis i think, which is the centre of the island, and has to be done there for safety reasons cos if it was done anywhere else the air flows around the island could send you off flying off into the middle of the med

Wow! Thanks for all the replies! My fiance and I were not sure about what kind of responses we would get to this message or how friendly people would be, but we're very happy about the level of friendliness we're experiencing from people on this message board, and we're hoping that carries over to the people we meet in Ibiza!

Thanks for the info...two twin beds certainly would not work for us on our honeymoon! ;)

We've been trying to decide what activities we'd like to do during the day and those are both great ideas. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yes, this will be once in a lifetime for us...we've known each other for a very long time and we're a fantastic match for eachother. We both agree...we should splurge for something special, but I'm just very conscientious about how we spend our money, so I'm trying hard to strike a happy balance between a very special honeymoon and a price tag that doesn't give me a heart attack! :D

Hmmmm...I haven't looked into car rentals yet. Are they affordable? We're very used to having our own cars and being able to get anywhere at any time, so this sounds great. I think we'll still have to take public transportation at night though, because I'm sure we'll be far too drunk to drive!

We're both really busy with work at the moment, but we're hoping to sit down together and make our final decision within the next week or two, so please keep the responses coming...the more info the better! When we finally book our hotel, I'll post our decision and reasoning for all to see and a review once we get back.

By the way, we'll be in town from July 16 - July 21, so if anyone else will be there, drop me a line and maybe we can meet up while we're there. :D

I stayed at both Nautico Ebeso and Garbi and I liked Garbi better. Just to let you know both hotels had single beds and also be prepared, the air conditioners are NOT like here in America! Very weak compared to our standards but once you are in the room for a bit it starts to feel cool. What I like about Nautico was that it is in walking distance to the port where there are little cafe's and stores etc.. and you can also get club tickets from alot of promoters there, although I didn't. We also walked to el divino ( a club), it's a little far but you can do it. The area that it is in is pretty quiet. So you will be able to get your rest. The beach is not accessable from the hotel. There is a beach further away you can walk to though. It's an ok hotel, nothing spectacular but not terrible. One bad thing, we had a room on the ground floor and there was a ping pong table outside our door that people were playing all day long. I couldn't sleep during the day 'cause all I heard was that damn ping pong back and forth. Also they had like a band or some kinda music right there at night and it was loud for taking a nap before heading out. The pool was pretty small, nothing great. It was fairly easy to get a taxi here, the hotel usually called one for us and there was a cab stand right down the block. Now as for Garbi, I liked it a little better. I feel like there is so much going on in that area. The beach is right there, right passed the pool area. The pool was GREAT! It was soooooo big with lots of chairs and good music all day. You can walk to Bora Bora where this a beach party all day every day. The room is a little small but I liked it better than the other hotel. The shower pressure was really good which is a plus. It's loud outside but where our room was we couldnt hear a thing, and i'm a light sleeper. You can walk to space from there. They also have a disco in the hotel so if you just wanna hang locally you can. There is also a bar right across the street. One bad thing, it's a terrible are for getting a cab during the prime time night hours. It took forever. There is a cab stand down the road a bit, but they didn't always stop for some reason. I like this hotel and area so much more that I am going to stay there again in september. I do have to say that I dont think either of them are honey moon material. You wanna go all out for your honey moon. It's supposed to be wonderful, and I feel like you should try to stay in a nicer place. Unless you really don't have the money to spend. But if you do have the money, splurge a little! You only go on your honeymoon once so do it right! (well at least I hope only once but u get the idea). Whatever you do or stay, mark my words, YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME AND FALL IN LOVE WITH THE FANTASY ISLAND OF IBIZA!
Good luck and have fun!

Sorry... I hope you know I was talking about Garbi, not Gaudi... very funny typo, though

and sorry to glittagurl, but do NOT go to the Garbi disco

Also, I'm from the States and I thought the AC was plenty good.

But again, while I think it's fine for regular Ibiza visitors, Garbi is not a honeymoon hotel.

re: cars, I've usually paid in the 22-26 euro/day range for an economy car in June, so it's quite inexpensive. That might go up a bit in July but if you book through carjet.com or hispacar.com early enough you'll get good rates.

i booked through hispacar.com and always get a fair deal, just checked for july, reckon you'll be about 180 euros for a week for a ford fiesta which will be booked through Centauro. very helpful service too and id thoroughly recommend them, there is 1 car hire company that regularly gets bad reviews but the name escapes me right now.

do you mean carjet? i've always used them and never had problems, altho this year i tried to use them again but there seemed to be new restrictive opening times for collection/drop-off.

basically any of the agents like carjet, doyouspain.com, etc, etc are fine i reckon. they are much cheaper and you end up getting exactly the same car as if you went straight to the HiperRentacar place which does most of them.

having said that, i'm not really picky about cars.

I think Phil is talking about Hiper Rent-a-car, which often gets bad reviews, mainly because they're not right in the airport and can be a bit slow processing people.

We should clarify for the uninitiated: Carjet and Hispacar are booking agencies, both equally good for Ibiza in my view. They get good rates from the vendors and pass the savings on to you ;) When you actually pick up your car, it will be from whomever they've got the best deal with on the model you want at the time you want.

I've used both Carjet and Hispacar over the past couple of years (whoever is cheaper) and the vendor was Centauro. Once, 3 or 4 years ago, I used Carjet and was assigned a car from Hiper.

morbs, i mentioned hiper rentacar......................in fact looking at it, you've just said exactly the same thing i did. :?

ahh, that rings bells. i specifically emailed hispacar and asked them not to give me a car from hiper car due to the bad press. she upgraded me to a better car for the deal that the car coming from hipercar was on (no big deal but a nice gesture). Id always go through hispacar and id probably specifically request centauro cause of the excellent service i've always had from them.
