planning trip from the states--advice?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to plan a vacation out to Ibiza this year. What is the absolute best week (or two) of the year to go? We want lots of fun parties/clubs, but not jam packed with people. Was thinking maybe late spring/early summer?

for first timers, its always better to hit the island either during the Opening parties or the closing parties .. thats my advise to u.. if im not mistaken, opening parties (early summer June) are usualy more jammed with ppl.. closing parties (late summer Aug/Sept) are off-the-hook

My wife and I are going for the first time and we decided (with the help of others) on Sept 21 - Oct 5th. We'll be catching most of the blinding closing parties...double Space closing, DC10 closing, Amnesia, and a few Pacha closing parties. I'm sure there will be others, hopefully Underground thrown into the bunch. The prices for lodging/airfare/auto are cheaper during the closing parties. We have booked all three already!

Which part of the states are you from? We'll be coming from Dallas, Texas.

Nevermind, just saw that you are from California. So which part of California?

My wife and I got engaged out there in LaLa land during NYE. We've been out there a few times for some of Giant's, Spundae's, & Avalon's NYE parties. Good times indeed.

Speculation...Space and DC10 closings are on the Spotlight calendar. Pete Tong announced Pure Pacha nights will go all the way to Sept 30th so there's another (http://www.petetong.com/index.php?page=234). I believe Amnesia announced that Cocoon's closing is on Sept. 19th so the club closing should be later that week or the following week. Pacha usually has late closing parties so I reckon we'll catch a few.

Texas is all right. Dallas' EDM scene has been thriving quite nicely (I'm in Dallas). Houston has been hurtin as of lately compared to what they used to bring. Austin still has a scene but it's a lot more diverse, music of all genres.

I used to take weekend trips over to New Orleans when I was in college. Had many fun nights there...

Correction, Privilege announced Manumission's closing will be on September 19th so the club closing should be on the 24th. Sorry, I think I had a dream about Amnesia...who knows...I'm still waking up right now... http://www.ibiza-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=24773&start=100

Thanks to everyone for the advice and info. I think we will try to plan the trip for the end of summer/closing parties. CAN'T WAIT!!!

In response to your query, j_love01, I live in San Diego, (California, not Texas!), but I spent a number of years in San Francisco-- have to say I much prefer the music scene up there. Most San Diego clubs are all about Hip-Hop.

I went in August from New York and it was 104 degrees in the shade . I don't think I'll do that again.
