Planning a vacation on Ibiza...besides the clubs/parties...

What else could we do?

We're going for a week and a half in late June/early July of 2012. We'll probably alternate nights for partying and relaxing.

I'm planning on booking us in the Jet Apartments, so Bora Bora and everything in Playa d'en Bossa is obviously an option every day. We'll probably want to spend a couple days hanging out St. Antoni, a couple days exploring/shopping in Ibiza Town. Our nights would most likely be spent clubbing, maybe every night, possibly every other just to recoup.

My few questions are...

is renting a car and traveling around the island worth it?
Being an American citizen, would I need to do some kinda of drivers test to drive/rent over there?

Could we find a secluded beach and hang out there all day without getting in trouble?
meaning, Are secluded beaches private property?

Is taking a boat to Formentera to go to the beaches there worth it, because I hear their beaches have Ibiza's beat. Is there a big difference?

Renting a car is definitely worth it. I do it every year. Your US drivers license is all you need (assuming you're over 25... or maybe it's 23... I forget).

All beaches are public, so you won't have a problem hanging out, but there are some that are smaller and more secluded than others. Most of them will at least have a little shack selling sandwiches and drinks.. others have little cafes and some have top-notch restaurants. You can definitely make a day of going to explore new beaches. The missus and I do that every year.

The beaches in Formentera are nice. If you've got time, it's worth a day trip. Take a morning boat over, rent scooters and check out the island, grab lunch, then settle in somewhere for beach time. It's a nice day trip.

Another thing to do is to check out some of the villages around the island. A couple of them are quite quaint. Settle in to the local cafes and enjoy Spanish life. Also, you must explore Ibiza Town's old town, the Dalt Vila.

Now see, that's what I'm talkin about. On our down days/recovery days, thats exactly the kinda stuff I wanna do. Def have to rent a scooter. Not sure if I'll get the whole group to do all this stuff though. Probably just tell everyone to go off and do whatever they want for a couple of the days. We'll have a couple fluent Spanish speakers with us, so that'll help when exploring the country side and smaller towns.

I hate that I have to wait a year for this once in a lifetime experience though. The wait is going to kill me...

Not to increase the torture factor, but take a look in the Ibiza Clubbing Reviews section too.

Read through some of the reviews and you'll get an idea of what other people did on their trips. Some people (eg. me, Nostrum) put a lot of detail about things we do and places we go.
