Me and my partner will be going to ibiza within the next six weeks.

We have 2 weeks holiday booked in, but do not want to stay the full 2 weeks in ibiza.

What we thought is 3 days somewhere, 3 days somewhere else then end the mini trip with a week in ibiza !!!

If that doesnt happen 1 week somewhere then onto the final week in ibiza.

Were starting in england obviously as thats where we live, so has anyone got any tips of wheres to go before we hit ibiza.

Where does other people go before ibiza? also we dont have millions to spend, but that doesnt mean we dont have nothing.

HELP ! !

or why not dare to be different and try valencia the new darling of the press and fastest developing city in spain because of the americas cup. ditto flights and ferry

or why not get a really cheap flight to alicante - we sourced some for zero pounds this week - and stay in this really buzzing yet elegant city. my wife is there solo at the moment and having a great time. ditto flights and ferry

Or Marsailles for a French twist - 2nd Largest City in France (I Think) No more than a 3 day visit though... On the coast of course...

or why not britain's second city - london. i believe there are flights but no ferries to ibiza from there.

I have just mentioned to my partner, barcelona when we were eating tea.

Then i come on here to find its top choice so thats good.

I also like the valencia idea but would have to look more into it, do flights go from here to ibiza?

We dont like the london idea as we could go there any weekend if we felt like a long drive ! !

Also not keen on ferry ideas as they take to long and waste to much time

Are barcelona or valencia expensive or cheap places to stay? and are they worth stopping over for a short stay or are these the type of place where you need 1-2 weeks stay

That hotel looks very very nice :)

Im takeing notes of the info everyone is giving to show my mrs.

I didnt know it was only a 3 hour ferry trip, but to be honest i would rather have a flight, i have only been on a ferry 3 times and each time been bored out of my mind and felt like a old age pensioner also a bit like a chicken in a box (couldnt go anywhere constructive for the entire trip time).

Any rough ideas of the ferry price?

put it this way, if you don't like wasting time then why hang about in airports for hours checking in, going through security, waiting for your bags, getting a taxi because you're miles from anywhere.

both valencia and alicante ports are right by the city centre and your hotel, it's 3 hours total travel from city centre to city centre.

check www.trasmediterranea.com for timetables and prices

I have just read your reply, and when i think about it, your exactly right.

Last time i went on a ferry i parked the car checked in and was on it within 20mins.

Airport you have to check in then wait 1-2 hours etc etc then the same when you get off.

Yes your exactly right ferrys are quicker.

Im going to have a look at that timetable.
