Hard Fi (lead singer Richard Archer above) are a British band nominated for this year's Mercury Prize. Their album, Stars of CCTV, was made for £300. They incorporate elements of reggae and dub, a la the Clash, but play a bit faster.

I second that. They're much more rock than dance but went down really well.
