Pete Tong @ Eden

well that absolutely sux! another radio 1 star goes to crappy eden!

wonder if he will still play friday nights @ mambo?

and the bigger question is who will take over friday nights @ pacha? (guetta?, swedish house mafia?, the return of renaissance?, yoshi toshi?)

you can't blame him for wanting a better deal than he's got currently.

now has his own night, artistic freedom, greater choice on bookings and a share of the door!!

that's true but personally i think in many ways pacha is a better club, I hope it works out well for him but I just don't think he will pull in as many people

It will certainly be a different crowd he'll be attracting from the crowd in Pacha. Good night for San Antonio to have.

he's probably been having words with jules and jules has said - look mate, come down here, you'll get xyz of the door and you can use your radio1 show to promote for free to millions all summer, or you can have the nightmare of dealing with p***a and all that entails"

hmmm... wonder what hapened ;)

(i remember a certain energy drink that was trying to be promoted in the summer a few years back - all the a-list dj's were more than happy to play in whatever club that was suggested - as long as the price was right...)

i believe that in fact he will pull much more bigger crowds than in Pacha:twisted:

We went to Pure Pacha for the first time this past summer and it was horribly overcrowded. That was easily the worst clubbing experience that I have had in Ibiza. It was suffocating. Anyway, that is probably due to the fact that the party falls on a Friday, not because of Pete Tong.....(and certainly not because of Dubfire that night!)

yeah but 0% of 4,000 people through the door at pacha and a hefty percentage of say 2,000 at eden (it will be more of course). you do the math!

A very good question. I remember having to deal with the wrath of Eden's owner in 2006 when a certain very well known DJ, who was doing Dusted for us played at Mambo for Tong earlier in the evening. The Eden/Mambo relationship is so poor that they weren't going to let him play at Eden when they found.

Luckily, my dilpomatic skills won the day and he did play, although he was hammered by the time I'd sorted it all out and he went on!

Having said that getting Tong is such a coup, he's prolly named his own terms and demanded being able to do Mambo. Given that Mambo have a strong tie-in with Pacha, selling tickets and doing pre-parties, it'll be interesting. Will Tong be pushing his Eden party while doing the ES from Mambo, while Mambo do a pre-party for Pacha's Friday night party:?:

whilst they won't want to lose him, there will be no personal hard/ill feelings towards tongy by the pacha hierarchy, likewise from javier if he decided to not do ES @ mambo anymore.

but buckers is right, whether javier and salvador would want to lose face on the issue is another matter.

My thoughts exactly! Seeing Pete Tong made Pacha for me.

Agree with the insane overcrowding at Pure Pacha (and not one penny from the door for him? Wow), but there was always the terrace with the beloved champagne girls. And then back after the break to hear more Tong.

Not sure what you mean by the "return" of Renaissance but having them go weekly again would be great.

Pure Pacha was supposed to be a venue-promoted event though, wasn't it? Theoretically they could just book a new "face" of Pure Pacha to join their resident Sarah Main.
