Hi!

I'm thinking about renting a car when I ge to Ibiza but my hotel doesn't have parking, is there any parking about (safe) for overnight?

Cheers

John

As you are right in the middle of San An, its really street parking (try down around the bus station, thats not too far), or, if you don't mind a bit of walking to one of the free open ground car parks (the big bit of open ground beside Mambo, theres a car park at the top of that) and theres one along beside Ibiza Rocks bar. As for safe, well, don't leave any valuables in the car, or even a bag or anything. I'd leave your glovebox open too showing that theres nothing in that. You might need to drive about for a bit to find a space, but its not much of an issue. Certainly wouldn't let it put you off hiring a car.

Cool thanks! I'm not too concerned about getting my stuff nicked, I never leave stuff in cars more the car getting damaged or whatever. Any idea on the sort of prices I'd be looking at for the parking?

When you pick up the car just make sure you give it a good once over. Pretty much every car on the island has a few dings

I was once told by a hire car person on the island, you'd probably be better leaving the car unlocked as most of the time a window gets panned in its an opportunistic thief, as opposed to someone looking to steal your car. You'd still have to pay for the window to get replaced, so if they just try the door and find nothing useful in your car you aint out of pocket.

Have I ever followed this advice? Erm, nope!

Just go get your car, if something happens cross that bridge when you come to it!

I normally use Hiper btw. They have their critics on here but I've always found them cheap and helpful on the one or two occasions things have gone wrong (being rear ended at a roundabout on the autopista and losing a fog light in the west end).

Another recommendation is make sure you ask for a full to full fuel policy.

Best one we found was emove which get best price of you go to wooden hut selling excursions right at beach infront of linekers in
San Antonio.

We tried another 5/6 places in town and this was much cheaper.

Bit cheaper than walking as they act as an agent. Which crazy but do go to the hut.

Very honest as told us the car was damaged before when we returned it with a broken fascia down the driver side.

Young French guys running the business and great with English, Spanish or any language...

I have to hire cars about once a week with work. This sounds crazy..... but...... with your iPhone etc (or something that stamps photos with location and time)..... when you pick up take a photo of the car in daylight (front, back and sides + all 4 wheels). AND...... do the same when you return. Even them seeing you doing it will ensure that they are less likely to do dirty tricks.....

Been at the adelino myself. You'll be able to park on a street nearby. Maybe not immediately but go round the block etc. I've noticed even if the spaces outside hostal are taken, they soon free up again. (I think because sometimes it's just people popping into the supermarket opposite for a few mins)

I should add, get the staff in adelino to explain the system to you- imo there is no way of otherwise realising that the specks of blue paint on the road are meant to indicate a space that needs a ticket from the metre. Don't really understand it but check with them so you don't get a ticket
