If i hire a car, will i have to pay or have troubles all week trying to park it? Is it different in different parts of the Island? If i get a little apartment (which i have) am i going to have problems parking it there.

any help appreciated...

whoa there katrin. i don't know where you got that information but

arrecife is not the capital of ibiza and

"On roundabouts you give way to traffic coming from the right"

is totally incorrect, i think?

I read it cross and didn´t check it for correctness... SORRY!

But when I was looking for fines for wrong parking an Ibiza (and of course the rules of parking) in 2006 - I quickly found it in the net .... don´t understand, why people post first and don´t look themselves via search engines....

Better???

:lol::lol::lol:

that's a coincidence katrin, my wife is working on that very page today. by the way you can ignore that bit about driving on the right being easy - we obviously wrote that with ibicencos in mind.

Please be very careful especially on the older roads, The surface even on the new roads is no where near UK standards for grip, The older back roads (and other spot area`s like the round-about coming out of Ibiza) which you will see are very shiny, are VERY VERY VERY slippery in the dry , If it rain`s , think black ice,
Take it steady, take your time, do not worry about the Taxi/local/Italian half an inch behind, they will go past if they want to, and nothing ever happens on time here, so you are never late
Have a good one
Tim

ps if you do get a parking ticket, If it is within 1 hour you can put €3 in the envolope/ in the machine to cancel it

hmm, didnt get much info from any of these posts. I am asking if it is hard to find parking around beach areas, im not sure if i want to hire a car yet or just wing it with taxis and buses.

so i guess,

car vs. buses/taxis

which woudl you suggest for an ibiza virgin

If you never have been there IMO it could be difficult / hard if you drive yourself (first of all you have to pay attention whats going on on the street and can´t really have an eye for the landscape pp..... I would not do that.

Parking on beaches: depends on the beach ;) I can´t speak on behalf for the english internet but there are a lot german websites that describe the ways to the different beaches on Ibiza.

Just search the net (its fun - when it is for preparing your vacation ;) )

Definately rent a car to get to the beaches! I never have had a hard time finding parking at any of them. I would not recommend using taxis or buses to get to them if you can help it. You won't regret getting a car I promise you.

You don`t give a lot to give a reasonable answer !!! 8O:twisted::roll::!:

Q,,will i have to pay or have troubles all week trying to park it?

A,,, No Ibiza has specially built free parking space`s all over the Island for hire cars, Just like England and the rest of the world.

Q,,,Is it different in different parts of the Island ?

A,,, No the Island is exactly the same wherever you go, Just like England, In fact it is probably not worth moving from the first spot you find for the whole time you are here,;)

Q,,,If i get a little apartment (which i have) am i going to have problems parking it there.

A,,, Every apartment, Including the one you booked ( where ever it is ???:spank:) I can personally guarantee has more free parking than it could ever use.

Q,,,I am asking if it is hard to find parking around beach areas.

A,,, a sensible answer this time  Which one ??? there are a few :?:

It really depends when and where you go.
Is it different in different parts of the Island?
Obviously
If i get a little apartment (which i have) am i going to have problems parking it there.
You tell me? I don't know where your apartment is.
any help appreciated...
No problem.:)

Seriously though, nowhere on the island is very far. If you find it hard to park at a particular beach then just drive to anther one.

thanks guys you have been helpful, the reason i ask is because here in Southern CA, finding parking in beach areas is a nightmare, as is in miami around south beach, so i would assume ibiza is the same.

Raul, you got a car sorted? If so, we will prob opt out of that and tour around the isle with you!!

well done

... finding parking in beach areas is a nightmare,
as is in miami around south beach ...
that´s why i mostly stay in the northern part of miamibeach,
where you can buy these "hang tags" in the hotel -
parking passes which are valid from 12pm til 12pm and cost only ca. 6$ .
you avoid spending the amount of a second room only for parking your car
and/or spending the day waiting till valet service shows up :-)

ps:
under any circumstances - don´t park your rentalcar in ibiza where you aren´t
allowed to park (especially in san antonio and ibiza town) ...
your car probably will be towed within a few minutes (personal experience)
and it will cost you a lot of money/nerves/precious holidaytime/etc
to get it back.

i parked along side remo hotel along with 4 other cars
we all got tickets and one got towed !!

mine says 90euro on it
the others had the same but with an option reduction of 30% (63 euros) if paid within 10 days.

Ive left now and havent paid it
owner of local bar said to ignore it he has had 5 over the years and he lives there and they havent followed them up.

any one else have experience with this situation ?

i know in the uk the rental company gives the name and address of the hirer, which is fine
as i am in the uk will they just drop it ?

I lucked out getting parking in Ibiza Town this morning. The key is to get there well early...before the shops open.
