Parking in Ibiza town, SCAM?

Last week i drove to ibiza town, and parked in a car park just behind burger king!

I was directed by a lady holding a torch (it was dark ) to a space. When i got out she asked me where i was from etc. Then she said the price to park there is five euros.

After our small talk and a stroke of her dog , i paid the five euros and walked into the marina area. It wasnt till about 10 mins later that me and the Mrs wondered if you did actually have to pay to park there as we had no recollection of signs or anything like that!

So was i scammed or was it genuine?

i parked there last year and a hippy type(!) charged me a few eruos for 'looking after my car' too.

seems a pretty easy way for the dog and string brigade to make a few pennies

yeah same thing happened to me. i think they were brazilian, the people who "looked after my car"

the thing is, they're unofficial, they make a few bob, and they do actually keep the car park in an orderly fashion. the council do not encourage them and the police do little about them, but can you imagine the chaos that this excuse for a parking lot would become if drivers were left to their own devices?

it's a scam, but your car was ok, you got in and out without driving round and round for hours, and you were'nt blocked in by some thoughtless cretin, and you only paid 5 euros.

as i recall, having my car minded by a group of scallies at anfield used to cost 50p 30 years ago!

oh dont get me wrong,

i wasnt moaning about it, actually thought it was quite funny. Just wanted to know. And as it was a hire car i would gladly pay £3 quid for it to be kept relatively safe...........................................and they let me stroke their dog

I've never had any probelms parking here. I think the police would be down on the Gypsies with a ton of bricks if stuff did start to happen.

Its the same here in Marbella.....you think youre parking in a "free parking" street and then someone pops out of no where demanding a couple of €€€s....the thing is....here....people dont give a sh1t about your car and youre more than likely to get reversed into whilst someone else is parking anyway!
