I am looking to hire a van from Palma and go by ferry to ibiza, does anyone know of a company who will allow one way trips? or will i have to then drive back and fly over?

do i detect an ikea trip on the cards?

try the biggies like avis etc etc etc for one ways.

and if it is ikea - you can order by fax and have your stuff delivered direct to your door - all ready for you to send back because it won't fit together!

nah, just joking ikea, you produce the finest quality flaaat pperdjaduj furniture ssddsdd oops - my computer desk just collapsed. still i have had it for 3 days now........

Yes Ikea will be one reason for the trip (not the only reason). I was looking in Domus in Ibiza town which seemed to be of the same quality, same design etc. as Ikea but seemed about twice as dear!.

Have you used the fax/delivery service from Ibiza? If so does it cost much and take a long time? and more importantly did you recieve the goods requested or are you still missing several vital screws?

i'm not quite sure how to take that several vital screws remark!

yes we have used the fax delivery service - the most difficult part is actually getting though to an operator. the goods arrived reasonably quickly ( a few days i think) and the charge depends on the weight or cubic capacity i think

personally i think the quality of ikea is not as good as domus.
for ikea - they're much quicker - domus takes about 6 weeks to order the stuff
for domus - better quality and they assemble everything for you

is that any help?

Further to my previous post, i have now done the trip from Palma to Ibiza by boat and can confirm that NO van hire companys let you drop off in Ibiza and all tell you NOT to take the van off the island.

However i thought i'd chance it and hired a battered old transit from the marina in Palma for 4 days and booked a return ferry. It cost 400 euros for me and the van return, one way on the fast boat the other on the slow boat. and 280 euro's for the van hire.

I bought stuff from several shops including Ikea and would say that the price was similar to if they had delivered it themselves. (160 euros delivery for a double bed and 100 for a single)

It is however alot more hassle.

Hope this info helps anyone else who's thinking of doing the same sometime.
