As we were only going for a very short time, I decided to plan this holiday as much as I could and am very pleased to say that we almost followed it!!
Thanks to my mil this was a 40th birthday present to my husband, 3 glorious days at home in Ibiza without kids!!
After weeks of worrying we were finally packed and waiting to go to Bristol airport on Friday 5th of October. So after going to be bed very late, I was woken by my husband shouting 'get up the taxi is outside' at 7am!! So much for us not waking the kids before we left!!! After running around like idiots and actually gratefully cuddling and kissing our kids we finally left for the airport! At the airport we were queueing behind a family with 2 children, so there it started...I started crying like the big wuss that I am!! Got to the check in desk to only be told by the very unhelpful ryanair lady that we had the wrong documents and we now had to pay £120 for the correct ones so more running around like idiots while listening to 'last call for flight to ibiza' over the tannoy system! I now believe this was meant to happen to stop me crying over the fact my kids werent with me, instead I was angry, annoyed, hungry and more than a bit p1ssed off! Eventually got it sorted and got to the plane. Thank god I pre-booked out seats!
Arrived home with tears at around lunchtime (not really digging the new airport signs), car picked up and off to the Hotel Garbi. What a lovely hotel, we had a superior room which was fantastic. Loved all the white and extra touches. Thanks morbyd for your recommendation. Unpacked while Pauly showered. Checked on kids, they werent missing us yet! Decided to stay local and grab some food as we hadnt eaten properly all day what with all the rushing around and a soggy ham and cheese panini on the flight just wasnt good enough! Became typical brits abroad and had a hair of the dog and a full english in a place (that I cant remember the name of) in pdb! It hit the spot. Saw a little stall with a sale on and bam got everyones presents in one full swoop bonus! Walked back to the hotel through Bora Bora (nice beds) and along the beach. Got ready and took the car to San An for Paulys surprise Ibiza present. Pauly was asking loads of questions wanting to know what it was, he had no idea until we arrived at Ibiza Ink he then paniced!! Chatted with Fillippo about the design I had in mind and much to Paulys relief we booked it for the next night. Made our way back to the hotel and decided that instead of going back to watch the sunset we would stay in pdb as we were bl00dy knackered! Checked out the hotel spa, highly recommended albeit a bit busy and be very careful about swallowing the water! Had a very lovely dinner at Ibiza Rocks, the steak was cooked beautifully. Walked back to the garbi via a booze stop as we were both exhausted and wanted an early night as we were up early the next day! We're getting old lol!
The next morning got up and had the breakfast from the hotel. Something that doesnt usually happen on an Ibiza trip! Drove to the harbour to get the boat to Formentera!!!!! I have been wanting to go here for the last 13 trips so was absolutely determined to do it this time! Weather was a bit misty which was a shame and I really missed my babies, I kept thinking how much they would enjoy the boat. Got to Formentera and was a bit unprepared to wandered around aimlessly at first....do we walk, hire a car or........hire some bikes! I havent got on a bike for 12 years so was quite nervous but as the old saying goes it is exactly like riding a bike although I wasnt planning on cycling down the main roads in Formentera. We wanted to go to the Blue Bar first but ended up getting more than a little lost! Eventually found it and we both collapsed on the beach only to discover that everyone was naked! Now it was ok for Pauly cos the women were reasonably young but the only men there were easily on the way to collect their pension I dont know if it was that sight or the fact that I had swallowed a bit of the garbis spa but I suddenly needed the loo!!! I then discovered the Blue Bar was closed......after eyeing up some nice bushes, thankfully the loos were not closed and I had not been so happy to see a bog in a long time!
Feeling better we decided to make our way back to the harbour and find a beach closer. Another (very pleasurable) detour along the salt flats later Pauly decided he's had enough of cycling and needed a drink after returning the bikes, Pauly a sweaty mess and covered in oil lol we wondered down to the sea and found a really nice spot to view es vedra and have a paddle while we waited for the boat. On the rather cold journey back to Ibiza we worked out that we had cycled about 25km!!! Wasnt expecting to do that on holiday! Got back to the hotel, got ready and got a taxi to San An. After all that cycling we wanted some luxury went to Savannahs (in honour of my daughter) and had the obligatory mojito 8) didnt really see the sunset as there was a lot of low laying cloud and was told that the night before the sunset was gorgeous! Typical the only plan we didnt follow and we missed a sunset! Oh well we have seen it before Walked up to the westend and it has it uses as it got us nicely merry for very little money in preparation for our tattoos.
David from Ibiza Ink was straight to the point and told me to remove my bra and get on the bed! If only I wasnt married eh!! Just kidding Pauly Had my first tattoo done and enjoyed it a bit too much...........think this might be a new hobby! Pauly then had his almost matching one done on his arm. After saying goodbye to David and being told that we will live in Ibiza one day (hes very spiritual so Im having that as a good omen!) Feeling very pleased with ourselves we walked to the Tapas Restaurant. After reading the reviews on here I was very keen to go as tapas is one of mine and paulys favourite foods. Ordered a variety of dishes including the highly anticipated 'popeye'. This was bl00dy gorgeous and by far our favourite dish on the menu. Had a chat with one of the owners (whose name I cant remember now) and told him I would recommend his restaurant to everyone! Got some lovely free toffee shots Got another luxury taxi back to the garbi.
The next day was Sunday and this could only mean one thing -THE SPACE CLOSING 8) I love Space, it is one of my favourite clubs and it wouldnt be a clubbing Ibiza trip without going there. We got up (again) for breakfast and spent the day relaxing and drinking on our balcony (after a bank palava in the morning!) Feeling rather inebriated we walked towards Space stopping off at a few bars on the way for some much needed food and ended up at Tantra which I must say now looks rather plush.
Headed into Space at about 6pm- ish I think.....memory is a bit hazy at this time...and went straight to the car park (or whatever its called!) This is by far my favourite bit of Space and when we come to Ibiza we always try and coincide it with either the opening or closing. I wish they would open this area on other nights aswell. You cant beat dancing outside while the sun is setting in the background. Dont ask me who we saw, Paulys the man for that, but they were good and I danced for hours, something which I havent done that much of since becoming a mum. Met up with Nostrum and his friends and I think I bent his ear off for ages (sorry about that!) and thank you for the drinks Back down the front again Carl Cox was on and although I dont remember much I do remember dancing until Pauly dragged me off reminding me that we had a flight to catch the next day and that I was also a mother!!! Im not sure how we got back to the hotel but I have a vague memory of a slice of pizza and me being a bit put out that we had to leave Space!
The next morning (was a struggle lol) but breakfast was kind of consumed, car was returned and flight was caught. Back to Bristol with a bang and torrential rain but welcomed home by 2 very happy and excited kids who just wanted to open their presents!!!
An amazing 3 days were had (could have done with one more to recover from Space) much needed quality time with my husband pauly and Ibiza feels more and more like home every time. Very glad plan to move there is already in action
I love you Ibiza 8)
