our daughters are 16

When we go to Ibiza in October our daughters will be 16 and they want to go to a club and being doting parents we said no but we are wondering for a quiet life if we should let em we are staying in San an bay so where is the safest club for them to go to, bearing in mind I have read the news about the shooting outside Eden a few weeks ago which i understand was drug related.

Depending on when you are going in October, many of the 'big' clubs will have closed anyway so you will probably be limited for choice...

San An Bay isn't 'close' to any clubs but Eden and Es Paradis are the two that are nearest.
(Apart from Summum) which I'm not sure what it's like as haven't been there for years...

That incident was EXTREMELY rare.

The closest clubs would be Eden or Es Paradis in the West End, which cater for a variety of nights, including Radio One's Judge Jules on Sundays.
Whether they would be assured entry as 16 year olds is another matter. While I have never seen anyone turned away from a club for their age, I would guess the same restrictions regarding alcohol sales are the same in Spain as the UK (perhaps someone can confirm?).

I hope you enjoy your holiday.

didn't see the reference to October !

Yep, as Jam Man said, most of the clubs will be shut (Pacha stays open all year round at the weekends). Even the West End in San Antonio is almost all closed.
The last big parties are on the first weekend in October.

Why dont you all go to Pacha? :D

Its big enough for them to go off on their own, plus its got a nice chillout bit upstairs oh and a restaurant if you want some peace! ;)

I'm not sure if there will be many clubs open by then, but if there are then let your daughters go man. I'm 16 and i went to ibiza nearly 2 months ago and it was brilliant, and safe i thought. i never experienced any problems with anybody. plus even if you dont let them they will probably go anyway because nobody out there cares if you're underage

I think that is an excellent idea too but would slightly modify it because I remember when I was 16 and there was no way I wanted my parents coming to a club with me.

As sweet sensation said, there is a restaurant at pacha which does really nice food. If you book a table there for the Friday night for around 10pm or later, you could all have dinner there. Once you have dinner, it gives you all free entry into the club which I believe opens at midnight.
As parents you could tell the girls that you are bringing them for dinner there and they can stay on for the club afterwards. You can then let them go into the club once dinner is finished and then you could have a look around and decide if you wanted to stay for a bit or head off home.
Also, as mentioned above you will be slightly out of season for clubbing so you would probably want to check all of the above is available.
Regarding safety, as Stu said, events like the shooting outside Eden are extremely rare. In general Ibiza is a very safe place but as with anywhere in the world if you go looking for trouble you probably will find it.

call me old fashioned but there is no way in the world that i would want to be in the same place as a couple of 16 year olds. and i'd be even more irked if i'd paid €50 to get in ibiza's most 'sophisticated' club to find schoolchildren in there.

I wouldn't call Pacha sophisticated really. They let any old scrubber in there!
The great thing about the place is that everyone feels comfortable in there - from the vip with delusions of grandeur to the wide eyed club kid who fancies a bit of posh.

I used to go raving at 15 so I'm in no position to get snobby about kids being in a club.

As long as they're nice then it's fine by me. ;) Let them go! They'll love it.

...However, if either of them wears England tops or uses ghetto speak then not only don't take them to Pacha but leave them at Gatwick. ;)

Thats a bit old fashioned!!

I think we have had second thoughts about letting our daughters out to a club, as we have found out, there are plenty of late bars where we can all go to in and around San Antonio Bay and San Antonio Town.

Thanks

You don't really identify with many people on this board do you Stephen?
It could have been irony!

Pacha would have been a great idea. I bet the daughters have their own ideas anyhow. Much easier to slip the old folks leash in and around San An, go girls :D.

You get exposed to a lot as a young person these days, more often than not before you are 16, and not in far flung exotic places either. Local parties, parks, school etc. its all going on there.

the violence you've read about really is extremely isolated, just look at the regulars shock at when it had happened. dont believe the hype. i live in dundee, and if i go out in town, in pretty much guaranteed to see it kick off at some point in the night, pretty much same as anywhere in the UK. if you compare that to three weeks in total i've spent in ibiza, going out practically every night and haven't seen once single fight or anything like aggresive behaviour (with the exception of some rude folk in Space).

going to a nightclub like pacha means they will be less likely to be drunk due to the price of alcohol, and im sure you'd know if you felt you could trust them with regards to other things. if you aren't sure you can then thats fair enough but its a shame. personally if i was in ibiza as a 16 year old and couldn't go to a nightclub id be gutted.

as i've been on this planet twice as long as you rob (and most of the others) i am happy to say i have completely different tastes and a different outlook on life than most of you. what turns you on makes me laugh and vice versa. that's life and i wouldn't change mine for anything.
