After the epic Journey through trance last month, we follow up with a very special treat indeed!

We welcome SOLARSTONE back to OTR in style with the official album launch party for there forthcoming album TOUCHSTONE.

In 2008 he produced Rain Stars Eternal, his rebirth 2.0 artist album and in 2009 he imagined and created Electronic Architecture - his IDMA-nominated concept compilation vision. Now, for a new decade, Solarstone returns with… Touchstone.
In ways big and small, conscious or otherwise, inspiration happens to everyone, everyday of their lives. Musicians are perhaps intrinsically even more open to it. Lines thick, thin, straight and curved are drawn to productions that span back over many decades... In his own production work, identifying these inspirations, down to their smallest fraction is something that Solarstone (composer, producer, singer & DJ Richard Mowatt) has long been captivated by.

Touchstone, his new artist album, brings these inspirations out of the cortex and into the light, ‘musically mapping', for the first time, an artist that has at every turn sought to redefine the word trance.

Supporting on the night we have Dutch legend, SIED VAN RIEL making his OTR debut! Tipped by Tiësto as “the hottest producer around” and by DJ Magazine as “the next big thing to hit trance”. One of Armin van Buuren's favourite producers of 2008 and according to Ferry Corsten one of THE new Trance Guys. He won the “best new face”Award at the Trance Awards 2008 in London and has spun across the globe on events such as Trance Energy and Gatecrasher,Godskitchen and many many more. Sied describes his brand of music as “deep, driving, warm, melodic-fuelled trance” with each track or remix “directly related to my personality, experiences and state of mind”.

Next up is another massive OTR Dubut from ANJUNA BEATS superstar MARK PLEDGER. Mark Pledger has emerged as a globe trotting star spreading the trance gospel to the far flung corners of the world!" - The Gallery, London Mixmag's “best thing to happen in trance”, Mark Pledger has rocked The Gallery, Passion, Gatecrasher and Gods Kitchen with his DJ sets. He's played in Europe, South America, Australia and Asia, and topped off a fantastic 2008 with a New Years Eve gig in India. “…a full-on, energy-exuding club thumper. Bags of melody and a hint of dirty bass distortion culminate in a suitably huge, snare driven payoff…” “…vocals provide the final polish to another goosebump inducer…” Snippets of DJ Magazine 5 star reviews of his tracks that could equally describe Mark's crowd winning DJ style.

Next up is Australia's very own DJ ANGE. Fast emerging as 1 of the hottest new talents around, already with hits under her belt such as ‘Seamless' and ‘watching over me', she continues to produce some of the freshest and in demand tunes spun by the likes of Ferry Corsten, Sean Tyas and Menno de Jong but to name a few. Definitely 1 to watch out for in 2010!

Completing the line up we have JAHAWI, the competition winner courtesy of SOLARSWARM , and no other than OTR's very own HIDDENAGENDA which sees the return of Danny Taylor back from his worldwide escapades back behind the plug Decks.

This is 1 night you wont want to miss!!!! x

We hope to see you all at OTR this Friday for another night of epic proportions

Team OTR

In the run up to this Friday's event we've caught up with headliner Solarstone to have a little chat above his forthcoming artist album, ‘Touchstone'
Hi Rich (Solarstone),
Q. To kick things off, where do we find you today?
Today I'm in the studio working on a club mix of the album title track ‘Touchstone'. The sun is shining and the birds are singing, which, when you live on the Welsh border, is a result in itself!

Q. ‘Touchstone' is your 2nd full artist album. How does it differ from ‘Rain Stars Eternal' and what has been your inspiration behind the name and musical concept of ‘Touchstone'?
How the album differs is probably a question that the listener could answer better than me, but on the whole I think it is a more widescreen record than RSE. The diversity of the styles is greater too, but the biggest difference was in the approach. I had the concept and outline firmly mapped before I started writing the tracks, in terms of light vs. shade, vocal vs. instrumental, which is probably why it is such a ‘complete' sounding record.
Q. In 30 words or less can you sum up the Touchstone listening experience?
Melodic & emotional, atmospheric, cinematic, soundtrack, dance floor headphones, goose bumps, eyes closed, immersive, driving, relaxing, aesthetically pleasing – all in equal measure 
Q. Can you pick a particular favourite track of yours off the album?
It changes day to day. Yesterday it was ‘Night Signals', today it is ‘Ultraviolet.
Q. Bill McGruddy will perform a live PA during your set at OTR this Friday. What part has Bill played within your new album and why did you choose him?
Bill is a good friend, great vocalist and brilliant musician. He's a great guy to work with in the studio because we share the same dark sense of humour. He is also a great performer live, having previously been lead singer with The Southern Electrics and performed at Glastonbury and other massive events over the years.
Q. Can you let the OTR crowd know a little more about what to expect from the Live PA at OTR?
Bill will be performing a couple of tracks from the album, and also possibly a retrospective Solarstone production too.
Q. You've been on the scene for well over a decade, and have been responsible for some of trance's biggest tunes. Can you reveal any of your production secrets and do you have any hints or tips for any budding producers out there?
Haha – they would not be secrets if I revealed them! My only tip to producers is ignore current contemporary fashions and stick to your guns. It's good to be different, if you just want one particular Dj to play your stuff you're going down a bit of a cul-de-sac.
Q. You last played at OTR for our re-launch event back in October of last year. How did you find the experience?
Of coarse I LOVE OTR, it's a fantastic club with a wicked atmosphere, and I was really pleased that we've arranged the Touchstone launch party with you guys; it should be a wicked night.
Q. Featuring on this Friday's line-up we have solarSwarm competition winner, Jahawi, who is being flown in all the way from Kenya to make his UK debut. Can you tell us a little bit about Jahawi and why you chose him as the winner?
Jahawi is not only a member of the solarSwarm, he is Kenya's finest Trance and progressive Dj – hence why his competition entry mix was head and shoulders above most of the others. He has had tracks featured on my labels and on Electronic Architecture, we're pretty lucky to have him on the bill – I'm looking forward to meeting him in the flesh for the first time too – and getting him drunk 
Now to get to know you a little better with a couple of off topic questions:
Q. If you could have dinner with 3 people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?
Oscar Wilde, Isambard Kingdom Brunel and Stephen Fry. All because they are, to me, fascinating individuals who have contributed hugely to their particular area of expertise. Also it would be great to get Fry and Wilde in the same room and see how similar they are!
Q. If you could be an animal what would it be and why?
I'd be a seahorse, floating peacefully around the depths of the ocean, or alternatively a bird of prey, perhaps a Kestrel, flying majestically above the earth then tearing little bunny rabbits to shreds.
Q. Name one piece of equipment you couldn't live without?
My pestle and mortar – essential for cooking! Cooking is my second love after making music, I'm a bit Michelin Star Restaurant person, I try to go to these ridiculous restaurants a few times a year and taste some incredible food.
Q. Can you share a few interesting facts about yourself with us?
Sure… I used to be a body piercer before I became a pro musician, and have pierced every possible area of the body you can imagine. Also I have webbed toes. Maybe not interesting, but definitely facts!
Q. And finally, with the release of ‘Touchstone' imminent and the album launch party on Friday, what can the OTR crowd expect from Solarstone's return gig at The Plug?
The Dj set itself will be a blend of new material from the album, plus brand new mixes of lots of Solarstone classics, exclusive forthcoming stuff from my labels and the best prog and trance around at the moment. Also we've got some wicked visuals and lots of exclusive CD samplers of the new album for the crowd.
Thank you for your time today and we're really looking forward hearing some of the material off the album this coming Friday.
Thanks for having me! See you in da club ;-)
Touchstone will be released on Monday 28th June on Solaris Recordings.
