I like house - especially soulful/funky house but am more into Drum and Bass and hip hop- what about anyone else as it seems to me as most people into the Ibiza scene are House/Trance fans?

i like most music but im a rock chick at heart! Think is stems from my childhood having to listen to my older brothers music!

Well actually I'm a rock chick at heart too - love the new bands coming through now too as well as the classics!
But to club to D n B has to be my ulitmate favourite!

Rock was my thing for a good many years, but I like all sorts. When I was over in September I had a Sunday/Mondy at Space, followed by Circo Loco then over to Mambo for chill and Roger Sanchez, into the West End for some charty cheese and ended the night headbanging to Ace of Spades in Ground Zero. Quality, and totally wiped out my Tuesday!

For years my music collection consisted of dance and rap and nothing else but around 6 or 7 years ago I opened my ears to other stuff. Now you'll find the likes of The Stones, Black Sabbath, Joy Division, The Pixies, Sex Pistols through to Peter Tosh, The Specials and The Pogues in there. You definitely need a bit of variety in your CD collection.

i was a hip hop head until house came along, then hardcore, then it was just a natural progression to listen to dnb and jungle... i guess because as each weekend passed and the more 'tolerant' my body became the harder and darker i needed the music to 'get me there'

When house came back 95-96 i just couldn't do it. It wasn't hard enough to get me going, after years of progressivly harder and nastier beats n bleeps. 'kin handbag?! you must be jokin!!!

Speed garages familiar hip hop and jungle beats n breaks got me back into music with a slower tempo.

Since i've mellowed i've got back into my house in a big way. Even to the point where i'd swap a house do for a jungle night any day.

And since the days of refusing to listen to anything else but house i've opened up to anything and everything

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I'm definately a house man at the moment, but I've varied during the past, hardcore, speed garage, jungle, hard house, trance...etc
Non-dance genres do not do anything for me, and house won't be my favourite genre forever, maybe techno or breaks next?

Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal (like Static-X, Shadows Fall, Amon Amarth and Cradle of Filth)

Hardcore/Metalcore (And by Hardcore I don't mean dance music, I mean Black Flag or Poison the Well)

Punk (Not that Good Charlotte crap)

Nu-Jazzy/Earthy/Pop-y bands such as O.A.R., Maroon 5, Dave Matthews band, Hooverphonic

As I write this, I am listening to Cotton-Eye Joe by Rednex :D Don't ask me why, I hate the song, and any artist that is Sweedish but not Death Metal.

Ever heard of

INDUSTRIAL?

Nine Inch Nails. Ministry. Skinny Puppy. Static-X and Powerman 5000(Both of them to a lesser extent) Dark and Heavy dance music.

Here is a song ya'll gotta listen to that basically shows just why I love Industrial so much:

PRO-TEST BY SKINNY PUPPY

The video is absolutly awesome.

Industrial brings a little darkness to the dance world- its refreshing.

I love all kinds of music from opera/classical through to nu-metal. My favourite is psy-trance (especially with driving rock guitars!) and the only kind of music I strongly dislike is country & western (which I do believe is the devil's own toilet noises  ) and I'm not too keen on free-form jazz.

Free-form jazz is cool, I go see it quite a bit, just for sheer entertainment value. Lots of VERY serious people listening to a band who sound like their instruments are falling down the stairs - excellent! You just have to restrain yourself from saying 'Nice!' a la Fast Show, which can prove very difficult.

I also like challenging electronic music (all bleeps and lofi), a fair bit of World music, and lounge jazz.

listen to a few guitar bands (but not as much as i used to)

The Cure, Pixies, Joy Division/New Order, Beck, Franz Ferdinand

but its mainly house music i listen to

i've got quite an 'eclectic' taste in music...

house/progressive/techno/broken-beat/funk/jazz/classical & film scores/whussy indie/soul/garage (NOT UK!!)/dnb/disco/

and some other stuff i dont know what category they're in!!

Currently listening to 'radiohead - hail to the thief' because i'm doin some late nite work! placebo earlier :O

I'm a drummer for an indie band so I'm really into that at heart.

I do love my deep house/tribal house/tech house/progressive house/chicago house/techno/breakbeat/electro as well though.

All the 80's glories, like New Order, Joy Division, The Cure and all that.

Jazz, specially fusion and latin jazz

Flamenco :D and flamenco fusion :D

I like too some spanish technopop
