Opening weekend in Ibiza review

So here goes my first review of the season.

Friday 25th May

3 of us were booked on the 18:05 flight from Bournemouth. I work in Winchester and the other two in Southampton so I was at work until 2pm then left to pick the others up from work and onto the airport. We only had hand luggage and checked in online so straight through to departures. The flight was one of the loudest and most annoying I have ever been on. There was a group of similar ages people from London who had obviously never been to Ibiza before. They spent the whole flight dancing to RnB on their phones up and down the isle and 'wooping' they even started singing vengaboys. One of the girls in the group threw up... So attractive. My mates unopened can of beer fell off the plane table and burst open right next to this girl showering her in beer... Karma! I can't complain that much as if I was in a massive group we would also be the loudest on the plane albeit listening to decent music and not 50 cent!

Once landed we had our free Transfer to collect our hire car. We collected the car and was driving away within 45 mins of touch down. We drove to our hotel which was the Sal Rossa in Playa Den Bossa. Hotel was nice, right on the beach and very friendly staff. You actually feel welcomed unlike Jet which I have stayed in a few times. We check in and get ready.

Now onto the first night. Sankeys opening part 2. Sankeys was my favorite venue last year with Full On Ferry and this night didn't disappoint either. The main reason I like the venue so much is you actually have room to dance and have a laugh. One thing I did notice was that the cider has shrunk. Last year it was €8 for a pint of kopperberg this year it was the same price but only for half a pint. I got my usual spot at the front and danced away for Basement Jaxx entire set.

Saturday 26th May

Saturday day we woke up and had breakfast at the German bar round the corner from our hotel. I must be getting old as this was the first time I have had a coffee in Ibiza. We then got in the car and drove to Cap Des Falco down the Ses Selinas road. We walked up the hill then had a beer in Cap Des Falco before heading back to the hotel for a nap.

Saturday night we headed to San An for sunset and cheap west end drinks. We first had a Strawberry Mojito in Villa Mercedes which was very gay but one of the best cocktails I have had then had dinner in the wonderful Burger King. For sunset we headed to Mambo. I don't normally go to Mambo for sunset as normally get a few beers from Spar ans sit on the rocks but I had a free cocktail waiting for me as I won one on their facebook page. The 3 of us got a table and ordered a jug of Sangria and my free Cocktail (Thanks to Kevin @ Mambo)
After the sun went down we headed to the strip to watch the England game in what was called Eden Rooms. After the game we headed to Bay Bar as I love the place and the Mojitos they do. We also had a quick look round the THB Bahia as I am staying there on my next trip in 40 odd days. Next it was Weedkiller time at Ground Zero. If you wish to get drunk for €10 then order one of these!

I cannot really remember much after this apart from getting locked in upstairs in KFC.

Sunday 27th May

Space day!

Woke up and had breakfast at the same German place and just monged about the room for most the day. We originally had tickets for Ushuaia but cancelled these when Orbital was announced for Space. At about 4 we headed to Bora Bora with a crate of beers each to pre-drink before Space. We decided to strike a very British pose on the rocks.

As orbital were on at 19:00 we headed into Space at 18:00 to get our free drink and find a spot to dance. It was very busy at the back of the Flight Arena but once you braved the crowds and pushed to the front there was loads of room. We watched the whole of Orbitals set which was amazing. I would of been happy just paying my entry fee just to see them perform Halycon live. We watched about 40 mins of Dubfires set before heading inside. By this time it was pretty much rammed at the back of the Flight Arena. I am so glad I am male as the queue for the female toilets was ridiculous!! We spend the next few hours in the Terraza dancing away, I didn't have a clue who was DJ'ing but just enjoyed the music. Once we left space we went to New Garden for a litre of Sex on the Beach then headed back.

This was my first time at the Space Opening. I will be back again!!

Monday 28th May

We decided not to go to DC10 due to lack of money and from previous experience it just wasn't enjoyable because of the sheer number of people. We drove down to Ses Selinas Beach for breakfast / lunch in one of the 4 beach bars. I can't remember which one but it was the one on the left. Then we went on a little drive to show my mate other places around the island like KM5. We decided to go have a beer at blue marlin as we have never been before. You know it's a rich place when I park my little 1.4 hired fiesta next to two ferrari's! It is a nice place although im not really into the whole VIP posing thing so doubt I would come here for anything other than a beer in the summer. If you have combed back hair with curls and wear white linen and say 'yah' a lot then you will fit right in.

Monday night we just headed for a few beers locally as was flying back the next day.

Tuesday 29th May

Woke up and headed to the Airport for our 12:05 flight.

Trip over! Now just a 40 day wait until I am back out there!

sounds like a good trip and not necesarily a bad thing missing dc10 opening sounds like abit of a nightmare. plenty of time to go back on your next trip!

Ryanair flight out sounds like hell .. I'm sure it was all forgotten soon enough the minute you got on the island tho' :).

Sounds like a nice trip - well done for making it to Cap d'es Falco !

.. or are Italian :lol::lol::lol: !!

Next time you go to Cala Jondal go in to Yemanja (on the left just beside Blue Marlin) - much nicer there in the daytime, nowhere near as posey, cheaper and with great smoothies which make a substantial liquid breakfast when you're feeling ropey. They will put in whatever fresh fruit combo you like (bananas, strawberries, orange, mango etc.) - just ask the barman. You hear the same music and swim in the same sea .. the eye candy's often a little better at Blue Marlin - easy to see the best of it from the rocky "beach" bit tho' !

Great review.
As others have mentioned, really got me excited about my trip in June!

nice review , thanks for posting. great pics! When the reviews come flying in it makes not getting back out there even harder to take.........! :spank:

Sounds like you had a carbon copy of our nightmare flight out! Only ours was from Stansted on the Saturday, again Ryanair. Full of princesses who were trying and failing to be middle class.

Firstly delaying the flight (we actually passed them in Wetherspoons en route to the gate sipping Moet and looking rather proud of themselves!), then they spent the whole flight (and there was about 20 of them in total) recreating cringetastic scenes from Absolutely Fabulous - without a hint of irony - getting legless, singing F'N Vengaboys :spank: & generally being obnoxious. The icing on the cake was when one of them threw a glass of wine all over my mates laptop.

Terrible crowd.

Great review!!:lol: @ getting locked in KFC.... if that was me i'd be trying to find the secret recipe! :p

I went to school with a girl who's father had the job of safekeeping the KFC recipe. she was loaded, cant imagine how much he made. :spank::spank:
