One Day in Ibiza

Hey everyone,
I'm off to Ibiza for the first week of September mainly for the music/clubbing, etc. I've been the last few years and keep meaning to hire a car but never get around to it! This year we are definately going to hire a car for the day and have a better look around. So here is the ultimate question, if you were to have just one day on Ibiza, what would you do (clubbing aside), and where would you go?
Any help/info/opinions/advice much appreciated!
Cheers

Have you been to Formentera?? Get the boat over there and spend the day on the beach and at the Blue Bar.

Or Benniras.

Or Cala d'Hort and stay have dinner in the restaurant and watch the sunset there.

Drive around the bottom part of the island, visit Es Cubells. Lunch at Cala D'Hort. Drive randomly around the many gorgeous little villages inland. Head up to Benirras.

We hired a car a couple of years back and had a terrific time just driving aimlessly around, finding little beaches and old villages etc etc. If doing similar to you ie; hiring a car for only one day I would deffo want to dine at Cala D'Hort at some point in the day.

Agree with the above by far. Drive around the islands beach resorts for the day, then finish off with a meal at a nice restaurant then watch the sunset. Perfect. I'll be doing just that on Saturday :D minus the car

Thanks for the replies, was intending on going to Benniras anyway, I don't know too much about Cala D'Hort - the restaurant comes highly recommended? Is it easy to find? What sort of expense are we talking? Sounds like a nice place!

The road to Cala D'Hort is 8O 8O 8O I just hid at the back while the boys drove

The restaurant is lovely, directly overlooks Es Vedra - from what I remember food was reasonably priced - lots of fresh fish, the paella looked yummy as well.

lol, i did the driving to cala d'hort.

its actually quite easy from ibiza town, but if you go along the coast and country roads it does get very exciting (and im a pretty confident driver). at one point a mile or so before cala moli (i think) i stalled the car on the steepest incline ever and had to do the dodgiest hillstart ever with about 3 cars behind me! the rubber was fair flying up into the air after that one!!

id definately recomend it. in fact id recomend youd get one for the entire trip. means you can explore more. dead good fun. wouldnt go and not get a car now for the entire trip.

I'm the worse passenger in the world (from being in an accident) plus I'm scared of heights so it was a journey from hell for me 8O I literally got there and needed 2 stiff drinks to stop the shakes

That's my favorite part of the island.... from Cala Jondal (great chill-out beach) up to Cala d'Hort and all the nooks and crannies in between. Great windy roads with villas and estates along the way. Nice views all around as well. Es Cubells is a quaint little village to stop off in. You can drive up almost to the top of Sa Talaia, the tallest peak on the island, a bit NE of Cala d'Hort.

Lots of eating options as well, from Es Boldado and Restaurant Cala d'Hort (both at Cala d'Hort) to Tropicana at Cala Jondal, or finish your drive with a stop in the town of San Jose where there's several choices.

lol

People pay a tenner a go for such excitement at theme parks :)

i'm sure there are worse but the most scary roads i've been on in ibiza are:

driving up to the top of sa talaiassa there are a few moments were there is basically a sheer drop.

from san miquel (past the caves) to benniras, reminds me of the end scenes of the Italian Job. 8O

Yep...that's about the point where the missus started yelling at me to turn around

yeah, the scariest roads i encountered were in the north of the island. one day we got lost up in the direction of portinax (thinking i was just round the corner from san an!). i was in denial that we were lost and kept pushing on. eventually realised sun was setting in the wrong direction :o

in the north east as well we took a 4x4 offroad once, and although i wasnt driving it was well dodge. eventually we were going along this little dirt singletrack with a sheer drop down into some jungle type terrain when we happened upon a fallen tree. having to turn the car around was tres dodge and required a bit of effort from our cocky irish driver!

in the south, the bit morbs talkin about, it feels like your in an old amiga computer game or something, its such an alien environment for me to drive in
