Noisy Roommate.....

Hey guys, advice time. My roommate and her boy have been entirely too loud lately while I am sleeping. I am unsure of how to deal with it because she is one of my best friends, we have never fought in the 8 months she has been living here, and she has a strong personality. Its a testy situation. I am sick of walking out there half asleep and telling them to shut up like I am Mom. I was thinking of writing her an email... tell me how this sounds?

Hi (roommate), =)

Before we go out to din tonite, I just wanted to make a little request of you to be more aware of the noise level in the house when I am sleeping. I didn't bring it up earlier because 1. I didn't want to sound like an old fart, no fun roomie, and 2. I love you and I didn't want to be offensive. But I like to get things out in the open because holding things in causes them to build, and then burst.

Our walls are super thin and sound likes to travel straight down the hall and into my bedroom. When you have been with (boyfriend) these past few nights you guys have been SUPER loud... like talking, and big bursts of laughter. I truthfully don't think you are aware of how loud it is and I don't blame you... you are having so much fun someone you really like so it is easy to not pay attention. Add wine to the mix and... well, you know how it goes. Then the other night at 2:45AM when he called.. you were cackling with glee and it woke me up...I was a raging bull lol. You naughty girl! =)

So please just keep it a little softer when I am snoozing so it doesn't come to me waddling my fat, cranky ass out there and barking at you guys. That just looks so uncool. And I wish to preserve any coolness I still have left in my little bird bones.

Thanks sweetie, you are the best roommate I have ever had by far and one of my very best friends. See you tonight for lots of macking and boozing. =)

-xoxo (PG79)

ps. I know I ain't perfect so if there is something that has been on your nerves about me then feel free to let me know!!

I personally think you should tell her in person, its ackward situation but it is also more respectful and she will pay more attention if its done in person...anyways just my 2 cents :)

I agree too - do it in person. Just sit down with her and have a chat about it. As nicely as you have written the email sometimes people can take things the wrong way - doing it face to face will avoid any misunderstanding....good luck!

Reminds me of the time I was lodged under a bed in the halls of residence in Cov while my mate was making out with some lass after a heavy ale sesh

I had to pretend to be passed out whenever they peered over the edge to make sure they were ok to move on to next base 8O

Then it was a scene straight out of a tacky sit com while I got periodically squished . . however, much to my amusement the squishing did not last very long at all - if you get my drift !

A very embarassing but oddly erotic episide :!:

Strange thing is , I can't recall why I went in the room totally cut and decided the best place to get some kip would be under the bed . .Hmm.

Get a male friend to come round one night and start shouting to each other

Oooooh Captain Peeeeacock!!

Oooooh Mrs Slocombe!!

Oooohh me Pussy's got all wet!! etc. etc.

She'll get the message.....

If all else fails Pacha girl try the little foam ear-plugs from Boots, I can't hear anything with them on. They also tend to fall out before the morning so you don't miss your alarm clock going off. Just a thought!
