Friday 15th:
Left work nice and early (was itching to get out of there so made various excuses and hopped on a bus to the airport) to be greeted by various delays for my flight from luton - bumped into a friend on the flight which was extremely welcome and made the journey much more palatable as we got drunker and drunker and before we knew it were the twats clapping the landing and whooping
Delayed flight meant that I arrived at the same time as Rob which was perfect. Luggage came almost instantaneously and we made our way to the Luxmar apartments in figueretas. Very pleased with the accomodation and location - just up near the carpark on the walk to ibiza town along the coastline. Nice big rooms, clean and two pools, one of them pretty massive. Perfect for the £100 we paid for it for the week each.
Straight out to underground for a bit of a dance - my first time to this club and I was very pleasantly surprised - was a lot nicer than I had imagined. Met up with Morbyd who came along too. Good music although started to get a bit random floaty towards the end - not sure who was playing but it seemed to be the same guy on all evening. Left around 5am to get some sleep as pretty knackered by this point.
Saturday 16th:
Up in time to meet one of Jamies friends Amanda throwing a hissy fit as she'd lost her luggage... poor girl. The airline eventually promised it on wednesday but she was leaving on thursday (seemed to be the year of missing luggage this year - amanda, morbyd, rob on his way back...). Headed down to bora bora after a greasy fry up and spent the day outside delanos. On our way home discovered that actually it was tahiti where the party was being held so had a bit of a dance there in the evening until it was time to go for some dinner.
We'd booked a meal at sa capella which is a restaurant I can certainly recommend - after being a bit annoyed we weren't seated outside once we'd gone inside we were very pleased - it's an absolutely stunning location, really beautiful. The food was excellent too - I had steak tartare and then strawberry and balsamic soup for desert, accompanied by some very nice wines. Delicious.
Then an evening of hilarity in ibiza town with the girls, can't remember much except locking one of them in the boot and frolicking in various bars.
Sunday 17th:
Got into space around 2pm after breakfast at passion and bumping into silvia and pep which was a very welcome surprise!
Really enjoyed jonathon ulysese's set but less impressed by the bloke afterwards - space was how I remembered, I had really missed that place. Left around 6.30 to go to the freak n chic party at las dalias up in the north of the island.
Freak n chic was great - las dalias is beautiful out in the garden and whilst it was pretty empty until it got dark the music was amazing - it's one of my favorite labels and the moment and dan ghenacia, terry and shonky didn't disappoint with their deep techno. Met lots of randoms and a few people I recognised from parties back at home, then headed back to space around 11.30.
Space inside was even better than the daytime session - wasnt' impressed by DJ hell at all, but what I saw of tiefswarf I enjoyed. Superb clubbing in probably the best club in the world by far. Was with a worker who's ibiza first time it was and she'd not been yet - loved the look on her face when we took her into the discoteca and she realised there was yet another great big amazing room at space after the new terrace 8)
Monday 18th:
Sleeping in the morning to catch up a bit, then off to mulletover around 3pm. Venue was amazing, right up in the hills miles from anywhere overlooking what felt like the whole of the island. Lots of london party crowd which was nice, one half of tiefswarf turned up to play, dogs on strings, funktion one sound system and an evil climb back down to the car park afterwards..
Onto cocoon where the guestlist queue was absolutely horrible (took me nearly an hour and it was literally just a scrum with one little lady ticking names of a list about 30 pages long... but was worth saving the entry fee...
Inside whilst I'm not a big fan of privilege the new sound system is far far far better than the old one (could actually stand to be in the main room), the coco loco room still goes off (but it needs a new system in there too imo) and the place still smells of drains - Kept on wanting to give privilege a good scrub. Here's hoping they invest some money in the place to spruce it up a little, with a bit of work it could be a very nice club indeed. Sven played an enjoyable set, first time seeing him play, will certainly catch him again. Ricardo was amazing as usual, love love love his sets always 8). Left around 9 to get changed and go to the afterparty at calla bassa - which unfortunately had been shut down by police which was a crying shame - along with DC10 was going to have been the highlight of my holiday
Spent all day by the pool acting progressively and progressively more wrong, before deciding that a few drinks at the gay bar in figueretas might be a good idea. Finally died after a 36 hour clubbing marathon around 3am or something.
Wednesday 20th:
A lovely day at sa trinxa today - first time there and really enjoyed it. The people watching is superb . Lots of sangria and tanning then dinner that evening booked for KM5. Liked KM5 a lot - had a few drinks in the bar area first (lovely bar it is too) then dinner - tuna tartare followed by the most enormous steak I've ever seen, then tiramisu then more cocktails... Not overly impressed with the food, was nice but then I didn't get anything too exciting. Can recommend the Es Vedra cocktail for pure alcoholic content (vodka, tequila, gin, rum, cointreau, champagne, angostura bitters, lemon juice and sugar - ). In the evening headed to Underclub at the new refurbished club DIVA (previously Kiss) - great night, some good sets and an up for it crowd. Not particularly busy but ok. Headed home reasonably early at 6.
Thursday 21st:
Headed to benirras around lunchtime, had a delicious meal at Benirras restaurant then relaxed beyond what I thought was possible on the beach. Benirras was the nicest beach I'd been to on ibiza for relaxing, catching a sunset there is something I'll try and do every year, it was simply stunning. Later in the evening headed to La Brasa for paella - still one of my favourite restaurants in ibiza for cheaper food with a gorgeous setting.
Afterwards monza at privilege again, really really enjoyed magda's set - she's cemented herself as one of my favourite DJs. JPLS wasn't so hot - very boring set indeed, essentially just beats with the odd sound effect... All the DJs in the coco loco room were excellent, dorian paic as usual superb, samin also amazing and can't remember who was on last (maybe it was samin)
After that headed to the nude afterparty at the old lucifers (now Prestige). Jo Mills playing a boring set inside when we got there, and I really wasn't feeling dark afterhours in ibiza, needed to be outside! So headed home early to get some sleep by the pool (I think, although memory failing me now...). Apparently it got a lot better and busier. Was sad to find out my friend had been arrested for dealing to one of our group - fingers crossed she doesn't get too long a sentence.
Friday 22nd: Slept all day, said bye bye to rob in the evening (thank you for making it such a fantastic holiday!) after dinner at Marcos on the beach front at figueretas. Then a few drinks in ibiza town and a quick jaunt to anfora, where I'd not been before. It was terrible and I shall be avoiding it on future visits . was knackered so headed to bed and slept right the way through until check out time pretty much on saturday
Saturday 23rd: Went to that beach where you can see Es Vedra from - very nice (Cala D'hort?). Particularly enjoyed the lifeguard who was quite possibly the most beautiful man I've ever seen
Early dinner in the evening at a tapas place in ibiza town, then off to the airport to catch our flight at 9pm. Slept all the way to london, all the way to Oxford from luton and then all the way through sunday until 8pm, then a couple of hours awake then bed again at 11pm.
No come down today except a headache, but think that's just from being run down.
Best ibiza holiday ever! 8)8)
