Next Wednesday Night Advice

At the moment I'm planning on going to Superfreq at DC10 on Wednesday the 8th of August but I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing any other nights. I'm into mimimal/tech/deep house. Any recommendations would be appreciated otherwise it's DC10 here we come! Cheers, G

Well there's also Meganite @ Privilege on Wednesdays which is a techno night (I haven't been so can't offer an opinion on it).

Penetra @ El Divino also fits the bill but when I was there in June it was e-m-p-t-y.

Underclub @ Diva was a great night musically but also not too full (which was a crime, I tell you) and now apparently Diva has closed.

So, it's between Privilege and DC10...

MegaNite, worst nite on the Island.
Really? Because I know other people that quite like it. When did you attend last? Did you go before/after Chris Liebing left? What was bad about it? Mauro Picotto? John Acquaviva? Was it before or after Privilege put in the new soundsystem?

Great to throw out unqualified opinions, isn't it? Really helpful

only think about meganite is that privelege is kind of stinky.. it always smells bad.

I think that meganite has gotten better over the past few years... Well it seemed to the past two... The atmosphere isn't quite what it is at other clubs, but they do have some great djs , especially if you like the techno minimal thing.. have a look at the DJs in the clubbing calendar

 I didn't notice the smell when I was there for the relocated Cocoon!
Not saying it doesn't smell... just that I didn't notice

Meganite 08/08/07: -

Mauro Picotto
Adam Beyer
Boosta
Paco Osuna
Obi Baby

:?:

....looks like DC10 it is then ;)

Crap line up, worst club on the Island IMO. Too big for it's own good, has no atmosphere at all. Even when they close up areas and tighten it up, there is more atmosphere in Koppas. I went there for Mauro Picotto ( who I can tolerate, but Mistress Barberella, one of the most painful sets, infact THE most painful set I have ever indured, and I can dance to a microwave dinging ). Never had a good experience at Privelege, the only time I could see it being good is say Tiesto there in a few weeks, not that I like him, just it's obviously gonna sell out the 19k or whatever and the atmosphere will be superb.

Thats the problem with privelege, unless you're massive it can ruin promoters.

Obv Picotto will fill it out with his brand of dismally boring pop-trance and stupid hands in the air gatecrasher moments that were cliched in 2000.

But thats my view, how he gets to worlds number 1 DJ by playing sets auto-mixed by Ableton is beyond me.

Manumission fill it, but to be fair, the only good night ive ever had in Privelege was Manumission in 1998 when it was the first time id been, and the scale of the place amazed me, and a simply incredible set by Leftfield at Renaissance in 2000 - That was possibly one of the best nights ive been to.

Ive heard Monza pull it off though, with those indoor-tent kinda things. They appear to get a bit more atmosphere as the roof is lowered by the tents...

I hear Monza was a blast this season.

And I was there for Cocoon and there was atmosphere to spare. Of course, the place was full so that obviously helped.

And I definitely rate Privilege above Eden and "ouch, my eyes, it's too bright" Es Paradis.

without doubt... Eden and Es Paradis are both dire...

Its a shame, cos Es Paradis has history and is a beufiully decked out place, it just happens to host nights ran by DJ Sammy...

It'll be a good night with a mixture of completely phucked people im sure...

to be fair its that or Morillo aint it...

Superfreq at DC10 is wicked. Before this year I never even thought about going to meganite, it just never appealed to me, but I went about a month ago because it was free and people I know were going. Adam beyer is a brilliant DJ, and later on in the coco loco room was quality. From techno to tribal to acid house it was all there, I had a quality night. Although, when I have the choice it is gonna almost always gonna be superfreq over meganite.
