I would advise you to leave the city if you value your own health, welfare and sanity

Well how lovely!

I send out a formal invitation for Sil to come and meet upstanding members of the Brighton community and she makes herself scarce while others blatantly accuse me of being a zoophile.

8O

()

Is it because I don't wear white sunglasses? 8O

I just shipped all the sheeps to Swazilandia, they will be back mid november

BTW Robder, if I was you I would avoid 23rd september. It's "La Mercè" festivity of the city and the expression "people have no house" was invented that day (if it doesn't make sense 95% of barcelona population will be in the streets enjoying all the concerts and activities, expect one hour to cross plaça catalunya) ;)

I recommend Bukhara. It's much nicer than Tashkent or Samarkand ;)

(they have plenty of their own sheep down there, by the way )

Is it? I'll pass your comment to MyMind (spanish regular), he is going to Samarganda and somewhere else in a week or so ;)

Really? That's great. Really fascinating area of the world, Central Asia.

Tell him there are some beautiful mosques, madrasses and mausoleums in Samarkand but the city has been built up and is relatively modern. I had a fun time there, but liked Bukhara better.

Bukhara, while it has some newer neighborhoods, is still mostly a living version of the old city it was. Tell him he must have a big bowl of plov (Uzbek rice dish) in the Labbi House courtyard, and visit the 4th century fortress.

Even if Bukhara is not on his itinerary, it's only a couple hours drive from Samarkand so he could make a day of it. I paid just $40 for a taxi from one city to the other (that was in summer '01, but I don't think prices have changed much down there).

MyMind's partner is a history-geography geek, he is so excited about Samarkanda that he hasn't sleep for a month or so
They were meant to go to St Petesbourg but the visa thing made it impossible.
I'll pass to them your advice
