This has been mentioned elsewhere on here I think, but......

New York Superclub Busted Under Crack House Laws

New York police used the RAVE Act against the City's best known night
club Sound Factory last weekend, raiding the Mid-town superclub and
charging its owner and two security chiefs with operating a 'stash house'.

The trio are accused of deliberately permitting drug use at the club
and face five separate charges, each of which carry 20year sentences
(under the now renamed Illicit Drug Anti-Proliferation Act).

The indictments could have a chilling effect on the whole of America's
nightlife industry, judging by the comments made by City authorities in
the indictment.

"Club owners and managers who allow their premises to become dangerous
drug markets are no different from those who run crack houses- and they
will be prosecuted as such," said New York District Attorney David
Kelley.

"Sound Factory's days as a drugs factory are over."

DEA New York boss Anthony Placido used similarly colourful language
"these indictments serve notice to all commercial enterprises that they
must act as responsible corporate citizens. We will not tolerate
nightclubs, nor the owners of these clubs, potentially profiting from the
carnage and destruction brought by illegal drug trafficking."

bloomberg.

it doesn't surprise me, let's see what happens next.

being from nyc....some of the clubs that they are closing is a really good thing, soundfactory was a horrendous crack den, now black will be the home to juice/crack heads stomping their feet (with no rhythym) to jonathan peters.

then again one of the greatest clubs....twilo....was shut down. the problem is people can't handle their shit, at black 4 people over dosed in one night!!!

right now nyc night life is making some form of a come back, alot of new clubs have opened up, and are bringing in some good talent.

I totally agree. Its not a NYC phenomenon that an old club gets shut down and a new one opens. I have actually been pretty shocked at the quality of talent that the new clubs have been bringing in. So hey, good riddance to a crack den!

NYC will never be Ibiza, but that's what makes Ibiza such a special place.

I didn't know Sound Factory was such a dive. I saw it in some clubbing guide with good reviews.

it was a "super club" in that it was massive....but it really had a "niche" crowd. the dj (jonathan peters) in my opinion is awful, it was a very drugged out crowd.....i never really had a good time there.

as for twilo.....man do i miss that place!!!!!!!
limelight is now avalon, i actually like avalon a little better, they are pulling in some new talent. the club is in an old church, when it was limelight there was alot of religious stuff still in the club, a little freaky.
