New Years Eve

I know there's been a few posts on this topic, but....
This will be our second NYE in Ibiza. Last year we ended up at a restaurant (Es Carna?)on the road between San An and San Josep. The food was great but the atmosphere was a bit too formal. This year we would like to go into either San An (which is preferable from a point of view of getting a taxi home) or Eivissa town. How do the street celebrations compare between the two. Is it better to eat earlier and celebrate out on the street?
Any recommendations for bars/restaurants? We are looking for somewhere lively, but not too lively!
Any suggestions/advice appreciated.

most people here spend a fortune on new clothes to go to a big formal dinner - which includes the 12 bells and grapes and then hit the town much later. very few bars etc are open before midnight and there are few people 'on the streets'
san an has its big marquee with live entertainment - its free entry and reasonably priced drinks - and you'll see nearly everyone from san an there at some time from midnight ish until dawn.
