New Year in New York

Can anyone recomend any good clubs in New York, i will be flying over on the 30th December. Have been on the net and Discoteque seems to be the place to go. Any advice please ?

I would stay away from Discoteque. It's way too small and not the nicest crowd. I wouldn't spend my New Year there.

It's too early to say which club will be better in terms of music. Chances are Jonathan Peters will be at Spirit. If you like Hard/Deep House, Techno and Disco House, then you might like this guy. Spirit is a nice club (the old Twilo) but may be extremely packed for New Years as Peteres is quite popular in New York.

Crobar will probably have Boris as he seems to pull in the crowd every time he's there. I find him rather boring though.

There might even be a party at Roxy with a well known DJ. Perhaps Danny Teneglia??

It's too early to tell. Give it about month.

I was there end of January this year.. and that was WAY WAY cold just after a big heavy snow dump. Went out one night and it was -25!

Thanks for all the advise, ive checked all clubs listed above on the net and they all seem really good, will keep an eye on them to see whats on, maybe someone could keep me posted with the weather !! so i know what to pack

No doubt. We are definitely gonna have one of our coldest winters this year.

Last winter was bad, wasn't it? I remember driving to work, taking me 30 minutes to drive 7 miles because the main road (for me its R31) had so much snow on it I was going at 30 on the straights and about 15 in the turns. And this winter is gonna be worse, the weathermen say...

i, personally am not a big fan of new years....it is amateur night out, but if you will be down here for a while, there are a ton of spots to check out... number one is cielo, there is a great party there almost every night...masters at work on wednesdays is really good. i agree with andy d., jonathan peters may be the worst dj ever...crack-head music, 15 hours of the same beat. morillo does an after hours at discotheque, but i must warn you, every time i hear morillo outside of nyc, i think he is great....but in nyc, he plays a different style, and alot of jonathan peters fans are beginning to like him. crobar is awesome on certain nights, roger sanchez now (FINALLY) has a monthly residency there. there are also plenty of smaller venues that are really cool....check out sullivan room. send me a pm as it gets closer to your visit, i will help you out.

Must admit Cielo was the one that most appealed to me, im only going to be in NYC for 5 nights and was in two minds whether to just do the tourist thing on New Years eve and try a club a different night, deffenetly not into crack head banging music !!

I was in NYC in April and we went to Ceilo. It was a night when LLV was dj'ing. :D Fantastic! Decor was nice, had a 70's style dance floor with the big flasking colour lights. 8) I do remember the guy at the door looking a bit dodgy but there was no probs getting in, or hassle when you were. Hope this helps! Wish it was me going over New Year.
