Hi, I'm moving over in July to work til the end of the season but right now finding it difficult to purschase my NIE number. I am from Glasgow and there is a Spanish consulate in Edinburgh I can apply through but they've said not to apply through them if it's for seasonal summer work. I don't want to come over without one and there are websites online that offer an application but they're more expensive. Has anyone purchased their NIE online before? I have the money but don't want to spend it right now in case it's a con so i am just wondering if anyone can clarify whether purchasing one online is legit
 
There is also the possibility to get your NIE on the scene.
Go to Policia Nacional and apply there in person, but be prepared to queue and wait a long time in the heat.
And don't expect anyone to understand english.

I have thought about doing that but will that take a couple of weeks to process?
