My first post here, I would like to say this place is great and there is a wealth of info here, thank you.

I know I wont be going until 2011 (planning early, real early) just doing some research and see if all the hype is real.

I would be be going with my chica next year and my first queastion is:

Since it's going to be my first time there should I stay in Playa d'en Bossa to get the full experience? We are both in our early 30"s and we would like to visist a few clubs while we are there as well as enjoy Ibiza town with some restaurants, we are also both beach people and heard that we MUST visist Formentera.

I have done allot of research these last couple of months but would like to hear from people, unlike my self, who have been there

Could you folks please provide some ideas for us?

Thanks

you'll probably get differing views on where to stay, however, being a relatively small Island most things are accessible by taxi or cheap bus. Personally, I've always stayed in San Antonio, pretty central for my needs, sunset bars, boat excursions, etc...however, if it's the big clubs and the Formentera excursion you're wanting with the least hassle in getting there then probably d'en Bossa is the place.

haha this one again
Ive always stayed in PDB as it has a great big beach + bora bora and space. That said PDB isnt actually that nice a resort in the grand scheme of things (hasnt got lots of top restaurants and bars can be pricey). This has never botherd me as it wasnt what i was looking for in these holidays and its where im going back this year.
It depends what you want

something to keep in mind also, Ibiza really is a 24hr Island, taxis don't stop, plus there's a disco bus. There's nothing to stop you popping to San Antonio for a day with your 'Chica' to watch the famous sunset, hit a few bars/minor clubs, then taxi back to Bossa in the morning.

If I was going with a chick, I'd probably stay in Ibiza Town, and use a hire car to drive around to various beaches around the island. PDB is only a short walk/taxi away anyway. I don't really rate PDB. Its obviously got its attractions, but they can be had easily without basing yourself there.

Ibiza Town....hmmm

Have not looked into that.

Please correct me if I am wrong, however, in Ibiza Town, there are NO hotels on the beach correct?

I biggest thing is to have a hotel on the beach.

Thank all for your resposnes, I apprecite it.

Pretty much. There is a small beach to the north/east of Ibiza Town called Talamanca.

Figueretas is probably a better option. Its pretty much in between PDB and Ibiza Town.

Wherever you stay dont just stay in that area , definitely go to San Antonio , maybe take a drive up north or to some other beaches in the south west.

I think the Don Toni hotel in pdb is just behind Ushuaia beach club in PDB , The JET apartments are on the beach but might be abit loud for a couple (unless u wana party all the time!)

The Sirenis Club hotels at the other end of PDB are 4 star I think and pretty nice , they have the beach right in front but is a little bit nicer further up towards bora bora end. we managed to get a ridiculously cheap deal there by booking really early a couple years ago

Garbi hotel is a favourite with a few spotlighters and right on the beach.could be a winner

Just be aware that PDB is very close to the airport. I don't mind the planes but my better half won't stay there because of the noise (even though it's not all through the night). Obviously lots of people aren't bothered, but worth a thought if either of you would be.

Definitely worth getting a car as the Island is blessed with some amazingly contrasting landscapes and coastline for such a small place. We were lucky enough to be invited on a boat trip circling the Island in a day a few years ago and I took absolutely hundreds of pictures.

At the risk of starting a list that runs into hundreds of places (really), amongst the many highlights I'd try to visit Es Cubells for some stunning views of the coastline from the little bar there, the road from Cala Vadella to Cala Tarida, the top of the cliff road to the north of Sant Vicent and some of the central villages in the island.

If you go to Formentera, it's also a good idea to hire a car for 5 or 6 hours, you can usually get quite a good deal from one of the hire shops at the port, then you can really see a lot of the island. If you head for the southern end, as the road climbs into the hills, there is a great restaurant for lunch, El Mirador, with spectacular views of most of the island.

Hello there!

Personally I find PdB very dull - unless you want to spend most of your time at Bora Bora, Ushuaia or Space.

If you do want to be on that side of the Island, then as others have suggested - look into Talamanca - which has a beach, restaurants and is close enough to Ibiza Town for all the action.

Have you considered the West of the Island? There are some decent hotels along the Bay Area and its easy to get into San An as and when you want, using either the local bus service or the ferry service that run regularly from and through the Bay and also you can walk along the new prom along the bay all the way to the end of San An at the Sunset Strip - depending on where you are based can take from 40/30 mins to 10 mins. If you are in a couple and you dont want to party all the time then I would check out some of the following hotels

La Sirena Country Club
La Sirena Aura Apartments
(both in the Bay along to Port Es Torrent)

Blau Park
Costa Mar Apts - quite lively but not in the middle of all the noise
- both back end of San An - really cool area - excellent sunset views and mins walk from all the action on the Sunset Strip

Do some reading up on Trip Advisor and look at the different pages relating to hotels and resorts on this site - loads of information.8)

Happy planning!!
