New Boots - Very Excited

I am so much stoked today as I just ordered for myself a pair of the Adidas GSG9 boots. These are the original ones that are made in Germany. Since, 2005 Adidas stopped making these boots in Germany and started making them in China. The German manufactured ones used to sell for about $250 a pair. The Chinese ones sell for $130. However, nowhere could I find where the GSG 9.2 (the Chinese ones) boots were made.

As many of y'all know I spend a lot of time at the range learning, and I also tend to do a lot of photography that involves hiking. Hence, I wanted to get a pair of boots but I was undecided. My Puma Anjans that I have been wearing for about 3-years have got holes in them. Yesterday I bid for a pair of Oakley SI Assault Boots, but I got outbid due to my computer taking its sweet time. I was totally pis*ed. I liked Oakley’s but when it comes to work boots I am not too keen on products that are manufactured in the Far East or S. America. I tried on Danner’s that are excellent boots (Made in USA), but the fit was just not right. LOWA is another excellent brand, but very pricey.

However, when I came across the GSG9, I immediately contacted some of my friends in the service and they were all gaga about it. Almost all the reviews I read on the internet were very positive. When I contacted Adidas US to find out where they were made, they speculated China or Malaysia but they told me that I had to call Germany as the product is not sold by Adidas US. It is imported by some companies in the US from Germany.

So, I get up at 05:00 to call Adidas HQ in Herzogenaurach, and they confirm what I stated in the first paragraph. I immediately called the importer in Virginia, and place my order. What an eventful 24 hours. I went from being totally pis*ed to totally ecstatic.

I have been sporting products made by the Dassler brothers ever since I was a kid. Most of the products those days were Made in Germany and they were excellent in quality. The ones these days (Made in China, Malaysia, etc.) are fine as long as one does not wear them in rough conditions. But to find a German made product for $130 for my size (7.5US), that’s a MasterCard priceless moment.

Sorry for rambling, but just wanted to share my excitement.

Here you go.
