Wow, where to start on this one, so, like many a day i started out early at Bora Bora. I managed to down a couple pitchers of beer by 5pm...Let me add I was quite hungover from the night before as well when i started the day off. So i decide to make the walk down the street to Ushuaia, on my way there i stop off to snatch up a wrist band for Kehakuma later that night. One thing i loved about Kehakuma was that it was a bit of an underground night, and the wristbands were always flying around for free entry, granted you had to get there early, but for me, the more music the better. Well, I grab my wristband from a nice english gal, we speak a bit, and she offers some party favors, as most of the street team personnel do. I make it to Ushuaia and to be honest, I don't remember entering, had a bit of memory loss for about 45 mins or so. I walk in and place is suprisingly full but not overpacked. I make my way around the pool and check out the whole scene. I get myself a couple of drinks and have a smoke or two. By this time, Jamie Jones hits the decks...before i get there, I must say Ame was quite impressive as a warm up. So i got some advice from another spotlight member as to where I could find a nice spot in Ushuaia, on a balcony of sorts, where I could check out the whole party. So I need to find a staircase by reception to make it out a window to get to this baclony. Jamie jones starts pumping and I lose track of that objective and make my way near one of the bass floor speakers to feel the groove and proceed to go balistic for a couple of hours. While dancing I had a great time with a couple of birds dancing next to me. They seemed to be having the time of their lives and I was as well, I think at this point the overall vibe at Ushuaia was outstanding. The sun was shining, people were grooving and everything seemed to be in the right place. I decide to take a break and make my way into a gated area where i figure i can make it into the reception area, i look around and realize that i am back stage i start laughing because no one payed me no attention, i then started walking up to the stage and made it near the stairs leading to the booth, when i got snatched up by a female security worker, she asks me where my badge or id or something like that is, and i play the "i don't understand you role" i tell her i am staying there and i need to see reception, she doesn't buy it and escorts me out of the area. Ok strike one for me, but hey I can't believe i made it that far. I then proceed to the bathroom to partake in some favors...needless to say, it did not take long for them to take effect. I make a b-line for the front of the stage and then it's dancing no like there is no tomorrow. Now i had heard a lot of hype about Jamie Jones and have also heard mixed reviews. I am familiar with some of his work, such as his production - summertime - and have ahad a live set or two from him, but I must say that I was very impressed by how he took control of the crowd and set the stage for Sasha. i have been a big Sasha fan for a while and have seen him a few times before. Even seen him back in the good ole Sasha & Digweed days. I am still green to the island and in amazement as to how the whole crowd sets the vibe for many of the parties. Jamie Jones finishes and Sasha is now on stage. Everyone around me is moving and I see nothing but smiles, I decide to make another attempt to find the balcony before it gets really dark out and i also want to be in the mix of the crowd as Sasha progresses through the night. Once again I somehow make it to the backstage area, baffeled once again at how easy it is to get back there, i see Jamie Jones and think it wise to say hello, as I make my way over, I see the same female security gaurd notice me, thought this time she talks to a co-worker and he comes over to escort me out, he also informs me that the next time i am back there i will be kicked out of Ushuaia all together...now this might have brought me down had it been another time or another place, and I must say i didn't appreciate being shoved out of the backstage area, but i was having such a good time and was insuch a good mood from the vibe of the other party goers, it really didn't phase me. i spent the rest of the time dancing in front of the speakers and hugging and jumping around with random people. All in all, it was a great event and a great start to the day. i had no doubt that Sasha'a night would be a let down and was only disappointed that it wasn't a weekly event. Great music, people, and vibe, but I could do with a little more hospitality from Ushuaia...
Next I make it out of there and grab a quick bite to eat, i also stopp into the local super market and get myself a couple of strongbows before i enter Space for Kehakuma. It is around midnite and the q to get into Kehakuma is huge, I am thinking, either this is a bigger night than i imagined or there are a lot of people trying to save some cash with wristbands. I had a wristband but wanted to get there early, Radioslave was on my list of people to see along with Simon Baker, Nic Curly, and Jeff Mills. I get in and grab a drink and head into the mainroom...I was very eager to hear what the music would be like and boy was i satisfied, great dark and dirty underground house, tech house, and techno... i was on such a high that i hit the dance floor and stayed set in the groove for a few hours, great sets by Matt Tolfrey and Jacob Husley...much to my surprise as i had never even heard of them before...The vibe seemed to spill over from Never Say Never and time flew by...I was so inthralled that i didn't even bother to make it to the terrace to have a smoke, i lit it up in the main room and no one even bothered me, Jeff Mills came on and set the stage for the rest of the night. Once again the dancefloor was melting and by that time i was soaked once again from the dancing..The rest of the line up kept the tempo up and i just got lost in the atmosphere...Great sets all around and i wandered out in amazement, not only from the whole day, but at how an event with not much hype had provided such a great experience...i wish i could write more about Kehakuma, but I spent the night on the dancefloor and could ask for nothing else...
