Hi guys, it's tune ID time.
A friend of mine actually has this record, but even he doesn't remember the name of it, and I cant wait til I see him again (and I'm sick of pestering him for it!) - I neeed this noowwww!
Ok, nearly bog standard ThisWeeksFunkyHouseHit, strong, female vocal (Don't hate me Buckley!). not too girly though.
The beats are just on the drummier side of you common ar garden funky house 4:4 beat, (much like the beat in 'Rendez- Vous' is a bit 'drummier' - if you get me)
The most memorable vocal bit, which I assume is kind of the chorus, is pretty hard to decifer.
The first bit reminds me of the bit in the classic house mix of Groove Armada - 'I see you baby (shakin that ass)' (or the DJ Sneak boot if you want to call it that), when Gramma Funk has a single line which is at the end of nearly each line the chorus Well. Well, this sounds similar, but more like Hey. We'll call this bit Whey It then says something else, equally quick and indeciferable, like what you think about that'.
Then(4 beats later) it repeats the Whey bit, then, again, really quickly, it says something like It ain't too better
Then the Whey, again, What you think about that, Whey, then, a tiny bit slower, yet no clearer Really still to bad
The the sequence just mentioned (from the first whey) lasts 16 beats, and is repeated once.
Then the vocal gets a bit clearer as the singing tempo slows a bit
You've got to free your mind, let feel so bad
You've got to free your mind, let the rhythm do (all lasting 16 beats, repearted once)
(let the rhythm repeats 4x to fade
A few more vocals in both the 'verses', but really not that memorable. The verse vocal is slightly slower than the chorus vocal, and a little dreamier/hypnotic -ish - but only very slightly.
Massive Kudos for the winner!
Edit on the off chance someone knows this one...
Different end of the spectrum... really basic-sh dubby electro-y tech-y house.
Think of Alter Ego - Rocker and Spekrtum - Kinda New.
Now, the only bit I can remember is the sequence of blips that runs through it (though not sure if all the way). And thats nearly all it is, a series of 'blips'
It goes 5 blips (elostro-y, and quite a high note) at one tone , the 3 blips at a lower, bassier tone, the a final blip, a little bit bassier still, is held for a tiny bit longer. All in the space of 8 beats.
No vocal to remember, and seemed to be played EVERYWHERE in ibiza. I expect it's pretty well known.
Ta!
