Here's a quick rundown of our week in Ibiza.
There were 5 lads , 2 of which had never been before . We got the 6am flight out of Gatwick and were at our hotel by around 9.30am (Hotel Bossa Park)
We had only paid £310 each including the flight for a week's all inclusive at this G.P.S hotel in PDB. Needless to say we were expecting the worst but to be honest for what we paid we were totally happy with what we got. The food ranged from quite a nice risotto and a sausage and onion stir fry to painfully bad meatballs and dubious other offerings. The bar was indeed free the whole time and they let us order for all of us at one time which was nice and quite generous in their measures too!
We arrived thursday and got down to Sands to see Carl Cox by about 4.30pm. Tunes like Cheryl Lynn - Got To Be Real were blaring out the soundsystem which could be clearly heard from outside which suited us as we had brought a load of drinks with us. What struck me was that it was such a varied audience ranging from little kids up to 50/60+ . Later on the music took a more housey turn and we had a little help getting firmly into the party spirit. We raved it up to Blue Monday with some lovely Spanish girls and chatted to loads of different ppl. By some people's accounts Sasha's party down the beach hadnt been as busy but we didnt make it down there to confirm it. We ended back at Coco's round the corner from our hotel till stupid o'clock and called it a night.
Friday we woke up still fairly wrecked so decided hair of the dog was the only course of action. After many games of pool , estrella's and Vodka Limon's later we went to Bora Bora to meet some german girls from the night before. A bottle of smirnoff and lots of red bulls later I had to take myself home , I guess the excitement of being back on the Isle had got to me. The other's ended up back at Sands for what i think was Mumu? It wasnt very busy but very good music by all accounts.
Saturday we had originally planned to go Zoo Project but everyone had specialised themselves abit friday so we were happy to chill on PDB beach and then just had a couple pints at a bar near space that evening. Was funny watching the groups of Italian guys around 18 - 22 years old on their way to space give standing ovations to any hot girls even if they were with their parents!
Sunday I had planned to not go to We Love as every year it has made the monday at DC10 harder to enjoy but after some resistance I decided to pull my pants up and got involved. Standard pre Space session at Bora Bora tho we had left it too late to get a passout. Steve Lawler was the highlight for me and was nice to have room to dance on the terrace , we were near the front to the right . DJ Hell was pretty good tho if hazy memory serves me right Joris Voorn was ok . We went from Space to Es Vive as we had met some ppl so went into the dark timewarp that is the underground Es Vive Bar. Couple hours and a few mins sleep later we left and took the long spangled walk back to the hotel stopping for some sunrise photo opportunities.
Monday I mentally would not let myself feel rough as CircoLoco was finally here! Again down Bora Bora after some free drinks at hotel and we got to dc10 around 5.30ish. Was fairly empty when we got there but got into it straight away. Looking at the set list it would have been Sossa and then Tania but to be honest we weren't paying much attention. Gutted we missed Art Department playing inside but everyone wanted to be on the terrace. Met some really nice ppl who we hung out with all evening and the music was spot on. I guess I would describe it as tough , groovy house music , no disco in sight except for the last tune of the night but cant remember how it went. Jamie Jones played the set of the night for me dont think i stopped dancing once. Also didnt notice any poser's or people not really into it , as my friends who had never been before described it as "abit like a massive house party at someones house you dont really know but it doesnt matter" . The only downer of the night which is still haunting me slightly now was seeing a girl who had collapsed and to be honest looked pretty dead. There were the ambulance guys trying to clear her airway and her friends were going mental. Her eye's were wide open but there was definitely nobody home. We didnt want to watch any more but we heard the ambulance screetch away pretty sharpish I hope to god she is ok. We left at the end and despite my best efforts I couldnt pursuade ppl to go to Cocoon.
Tuesdays in ibiza have always been down days for me after the excitement of Monday and this was no exception. Whole day in bed! We went out for Tapas but my mate decided he didnt want to go to my favourite Dutch Tapas restaurant in Figurettes so we went to one further up which was very average and to be honest i couldnt realy eat anyway , just sat in a daze all night!
Wednesday was our last day as we were flying out late that night. Checked out of our room by 12 but they didnt take our wristbands off so after a few drinks we went to Salina's beach. Fell in love with pretty much every girl there! We ate at the restaurant right at the beginning of the beach by the road as we thought it would be cheapest. I had Fillet Steak with Peppercorn sauce which was delicious! My friend had the swordfish which he said was average and another opted for Carbonara. Back on the beach there were laid back tunes coming from the beach bar/restaurant (the one with the red sign) and it was a really nice end to the holiday. We went back had showers and got changed at the hotel , a few more cheeky drinks then went out for dinner in Ibiza Town. After some walking around we found a restaurant opposite Sunrise and another bar in Sa Penya which although we were one of the first groups there filled up very quickly afterwards. We went for fish soup starter and Seafood Paella main with a bottle of house red (faux pas but who cares!). Soup was amazing and the Paella was a total beast! A really nice last evening sitting in that street people watching and eating. We grudgingly had to go and catch out 1.30am flight tho. As Im working freelance I was seriously considering just staying out there but I bottled it in the end. Could have partied with Morbyd and others from here , oh well.
Hardly any queue at the easyjet check for the first time ever! Very sleepy , sombre flight home. Said some goodbye's to ppl at Gatwick we had met and then taxi home.
Ibiza 2010 I bid you farewell
