My stag weekend review.

Friday.

Alan & Andrew headed over to my flat for the Argentina game. Nice couple of beers here but caught on the hop by an early taxi! (missed the last 2 goals as well). Met up with Graeme and Giacomo at the airport for 4pm. Had some food in the airport and the obligatory beer (that word might get a few mentions here). Flight was an absolute nightmare - choc full of idiots shouting and thieving and generally being obnoxious.

In Ibiza for about 10:30, we got taxis to the Playa Sol 1. For the price we paid these rooms were ideal. Immediately ventured out to get some provisions for the room (ok, beer) but no supermarkets open after 11 nearby 8O. Waiting for taxis outside the apartments, who should come out of 1 but Barbie and Tom. Lovelyto see them again, although i dunno about this quiet nites and meals lark folks

After the first of many time wasting sessions, we made it out to Ibiza Town for about 12:30. I need a wee snack to keep me going for the night (due to my diabetes) so Burger King was the plan to grab a quick cheeseburger and hit the bars. (already having to abandon meeting Dr Mick due to the lateness of the hour - sorry Mike ) I grab a burger and then the majority of the rest buy meals!!! - more time wasted.

We eventually do the obligatory walk along the harbour to get tickets for Pacha - trying to save a couple of euros and get a free drink (which we didn't ) Eventually get to Base and buy the tickets there.

By now its about 1am - 1:30 am, my Stag weekend and i'm practically stone cold sober - so its a double round situation. We just jumped into the nearest bar that had a table and 5 seats and ordered - now this was not one of the more famous bars but 5 beers and 5 spirits came to €71. The girl serving us seemed shocked at 5 guys ordering 10 drinks tho' ;).

Deciding that after spending €71 and getting no freebies, we move on - stopping at K-ube. This time I insist of some shots - of Hierbas. Graeme almost chokes on this gem of a drink, Alan falls in love with it. We order 3 beers and 7 spirits this time and its only €1 more!!!!! :):):):)

We eventually head over to Pacha about 2:30/3 and its great. A spell in the funky room is well worth being done, cracking music there. Down into the main room after that for Pete Tong, whose tunes and dj-ing gets better every time i hear him. In the Jack Daniels haze i realise that everyone else has gone back to the apartments - i think it was about 8am when i was trying to get a taxi back! Giacomo proved to be the star making some well needed omlettes as brekkie.

Saturday

In my usual sleep little state I get up around 1:20 (roughly 4 hours). We really only have the sunset planned for this night so not much gets done during the day apart from some lunch. Walking along from the apts, we pass the Poseidon hotel - cue the first of Alans obsessive jokes. Further along comes the phrase of the weekend - with a monster sized dog in a garden. Or as alan put it - thats not a dog, thats a bear. Eventually it was decided that it was indeed a dog shaped bear.

The afternoon is spent with some sleeping and the hardy few sitting at the pool (Graeme forgetting that his wallet is in his shorts and soaking all his money was a bit daft)

Cue another period of messing about getting ready with little results. A struggle getting a taxi means that we miss the sunset (although the N.Irish couple at Mambo, we had just got engaged, told us that we didn't miss much).

With a few drinks (and Hierbas shots) at Mambo - followed by a power nap for me, we decide to go to the Amnesia opening. a great decision as the night is amazing. With the ice cannon going off about every 5 mins, I barely moved from a wee area of the main room with some excellent music being played. (including Greece 2000 at 7am)

Again, with the others home already, I last out till 7:30 before coming out into the sun and getting a bus to Ibiza town and then back to Figuretas.

Sunday

Part of the reason for this trip was to also tick some boxes that i have missed in previous visits - the 3 being, Space in the afternoon, Bora Bora and DC10. 2 boxes ticked tonight then!. Although the 3 hours sleep i get from Saturday night is maybe stretching the energy conservation a bit

Again, a severe amount of time wasting by certain parties that shall remain Alan  means that we only get to Space at 3 - 1 hour in the sun to take advantage of the pass out.

Using the Spotlight tickets we bought, we get in with tremendous ease - a great system. The free drink was lovely too!!! :) We manage to get an hour of dancing in the sunset terrace before heading out to Bora Bora.

I'd never been to Bora Bora but i knew what to expect and wasn't disappointed - a cracking time was had. Made even more bizarre by a trip to the water (got some mediterranean water on me! and the Brazilian drummers patrolling the sand before the World Cup game.

We decide to head somewhere for food and to see the football and are persuaded to get take away pizza at Jet and sit in a nearby bar - which is invaded by a small group of Aussies!

We head back to the apts after this to get changed for going back to Space and unfortunately i forget to take my injection right away. Consequently, as i delayed it, i spend at least an hour in Space talking nonsense and generally "having an episode". With the aid of almost a full block of lucozade sweets tho, normality is resumed (as much as i can be normal) I find the new terrace disappointing this year, especially as there is some sort of VAP area at the back now (or did i dream this)

Bump into Tom & Barbie (again, its unclear who is stalking who at this point :p:lol:) and the equally lovely Jon & Becki (although Jon not remembering me from a few years back did hurt my feelings )

As is now traditional - the planned meet up with Stu Hirst for a drink is missed again. It will happen one day (and with his impending megastardom - he'll be buying)

Bored with the terrace, I venture to the discoteca and immediately I'm happier. Dave Clarke is teching it up but not too pounding IMO. Graeme (keeping an eye on me at the point) and I dance away in the discoteca near the front - both of us wondering "where is this ice cannon that Spotlight mentioned"

Cue, an icy blast DIRECTLY ABOVE ME. 8O8O8O8O8O8O8O8O

Despite the cascading ice chunks onto me, still a great feeling.

James Zabiela takes over the music and IMO is definitely the DJ of the weekend. The leaping around, energy and smile on his face as he blasts some cracking music out is a joy to behold.

Given the fact that i am now getting to the stage where i am falling asleep while dancing, the vibe from JZ brings me to life. But at around 5/5:30 and only Alan and I left, we call it a day.

Its only the next day that we find out that Giacomo actually gets ejected from Space by his new friend, Mr Security. Apparently having a catnap in the toilets is frowned upon :)

Monday

I now realise that my lack of sleep is not affecting me as i have now stored up enough jack daniels in my system to be officially permanently drunk.

With more time wasting, a quick bit is had, 2 of the 3 rooms are paid for another night to give us a base of operation. Graeme, Giacomo and I manage to get to a fairly quiet DC10 for around 1:45/2 and I love it. If JZ was the DJ of the weekend, DC10 was the atmosphere.

We even manage to bump into Tom, Barbie and the lovely Robder as well. Although the drunk chap that was bumping into us for the first 30 mins wasn't so lovely .

Alan and Andrew manage to stroll in at around mid-afternoon and its just a great great time. Even see some fellow casualties that will be on the same flight as us.

So we head back to the apts at 7 (tearing ourselves away from DC10 - 5 mins more, no 10, no 20) and have some food and clean up for the flight home. :(

Only thing is - the flight is at 10:50, the check in closes at 10:10 and we are still at the Playa Sol at 9:30 8O8O8O8O8O8O8O8O8O8O

Cue some italian job style driving from the taxi driver and we make it (just). I get a wee pressie for Laura (no doubt the wrong thing as i wasn't too lucid at this point) and we are almost going home.

I did try to call Dr Mick and Stu Hirst to apologise for being a no-show but something weird has happened to my phone and it cannot make or receive calls (if you got some mad silent calls guys - that was me with telefonic issues)

A generally hassle free flight this time and its home (i think i got in at 2)
but again i cannot sleep - hence why i am writing this just now.

Verdict - a tremendous holiday (is that the right word given the madness involved) but equally good to be home to Laura

I should also like to apologise to the Ibicenco nation as a whole

If there is a shortage of hierbas now - it was Alan.

Yeah i was dumb enough i didn't try it in the 7 times i was on the island...

What - no titty bars? Frankly I'm a little disappointed.

;)

I'm sorry too we didn't hook up to give me a chance to ply you with in drinks in return for your valuable contribution to the Spotlight party information service.

:D

Sounds like you had a good time anyway - nice to know we were in a few of the same rooms at least.

was a shame but given the amount of jack daniels i was drinking i'm afraid Spotlight cannot be paying you anywhere near enough to ply me with drinks!

i had an excellent time. plenty of booze and plenty of clubbing!
i really should have brought that big sign so that you could find me! i bet i'm in at least 1 photo.
