My review of ibiza

Just thought id let everyone know about my thoughts on my first trip to ibiza
Im 18 and went out with seven other fellas .
In short i loved it , i love clubbing but i was quite worried about my
friends who are not that into raving.

We stayed in the jet and the best thing about them was of course the location .

Saturday night we went up the west end for a bit of crack ,some laugh

Sunday we went to Space , we were in too bad a shape to go in during the day so we went in around midnight .

Layo and Bushwacka were very good as was Dj sneak who played quite dark and dirty ,
However the novelty of the suprise appearance from P diddy during Felix da Housekat quickly wore off
He kept saying the same crap verse the whole night and the music was always stopping and starting and the breakdowns were unnecessarily long
Felix isn't really that good of a dj anyway , his own edits of stuff have very long intros and breakdowns (eg Knights of the jaguar)
Having said that i love space such a brillant lay out and experience .

Bora bora also impressed me,its free and the music and atmosphere was brilliant , does anyone know who was playing there on wednesday night ,he played greece 2000 three drives and der drit draum hale bopp !
However some aspects of ibiza are very contrived, eg. every guy must have - an imaculate tan
- a six pack
- a mullet or other bad haircut
- a bad tatoo on their back
this "uniform" annoyed me quite a bit and showed lots of the people their to be fake/slaves to fashion

Space was unbelieveable on Tuesday , Carl Cox was very good on the terrace playing all the big tunes to get everyone going
However it was laurent garnier who stole the show , he plays very intelligent music and this encouraged Carl to play very seriously aswell resulting in a well structured and programmed set . Brilliant .

The last night i went to was deep dish in Pacha , they were unbelieveable, undoubtedly the best in the world .
I found the layout of Pacha to be a bit confusing and much prefered space. Pacha is also full of posers and vips with much of the tables being reserved for fat cats to sit on all night and drink champagne .
This high class element of Pacha makes for not such a good atmosphere as lots of people are only there to be beautiful and seen and not really to have fun and dance their socks off.
Deep dish would be far more suited to space .

Those are just my thoughts and opinions of my first ibiza experience .
I can't wait to go back at some stage and try the rest of the clubs ,
oh and thanks for the advice on the 5htp :D

oh just to add another thing , i was disapointed i didn't get to go to the sunset strip but i thought the sunrise on PDB was amazing

very peaceful tranquil and intimate , i highly recommend it .

Respect.

First time in Ibiza sounds like a good en mate. :p

Yeah, what was all that cr@p about "You people don't appreciate the music", and getting Felix to stop playing for minutes at a time until we "deserved" to listen!? Getting people riled up might work in some angry hip hop club, but not in a happy house club  !

Did that really happen?!

The f***ing CHEEEEK!!!!!

Sorry P. We don't appreciate it much. We only spend whatever $ we have on going to these clubs (which we have been going to for years) whilst people like yourselves crash the industry overnight, raise your stupidly high fees, raise the door price, cash in, then f*** off.

Get the f*** out

They have air con if you book online, but its not that good really

sweaty one :p

nice review alanc.
i was also at sudnays @ space when P.Diddy "performed" and didn't like what he did there either (i wonder why  )

and i also can't agree with u more on the Pacha thing (full of posers, not an up-for-it croud, etc). that's exactly why i avoid Pacha this year and never stepped foot in it even once. and i'm so glad i did so!

pacha isnt really meant to be an up for it boshing crowd, has been there for years and is for people of all ages so dont compare it to a techno night or summit its a different vibe and probably not what you were looking for just like a night up the west end isnt really what most people are after

I know exactly what pacha is and what it stands for.
I just said i don't like it much as a club or the atmosphere there (music is at most times great there though).

And last time i checked a club/superclub is a place where people should dance in (hence: dancefloor / dance music) and not just sit / stand / mingle - that's what u got the many bars for.

Oh and i've never spent a night in the westend during my 4 vacations in Ibiza so far (I doubt i will spend a night there in the future either).

well each and every one of us has his own definitions for 'cool crowd'.
for me it is a crowd that dance most night and doesnt do the whole mingeling / posing thing, regardless of how he looks like (beauty is in the eye of the beholder :D )

I'm not sure that would be what I find is cool either, but maybe more of an expected coolness? I can't say I find the whole cyber-thing cool any more whatsoever (no offence!), about as cool as mobile-phone ringtones (my current extreme pet-hate), I guess for me, cool is people who seem to be having similar tastes to me, which nowadays is more towards house music rather than the trance thing

well my taste in music has nothing to do with what i wear or how i act in a club.
house music is my first love, and then there's techno, trance, electro which i also very fond of.

labeling a croud according to the type of music he likes is WRONG.

let's move this argument elsewhere as we've hijacked this lovely review's thread :D

We have also had a fantastic time yet again in Ibiza. This island definately has to be one pf the most beautiful places in the world. The best thing for me this whole holiday has still got to be chilling out at Cafe Savannah watching the sunset with the guy playing the saxophone in the background and sipping some chilled beers!!! As for bars check out the bar just up from Savannah for very cheap bevvie (3 euros for a pint and a bottle of Bud).

My only other word of advice is don´t buy club tickets until the night of when you want to go as you seem to get offered better deals like free entry to Es Paradis.

Have a great time everyone. Hope to be back here again soon!!
:)

my point about pacha was basically that it is such a shame that the music was so good(deep dish) and that it was wasted on some of the people there

Great stuff, there's nothing like a review that doesn't go on about the same 5 places ad nauseam!

Pity we haven't had one yet.

djB

great review ....
agree with you wise observations....

(hey djb why dont you do an online journal of your exciting varied life and then we can all hear about so much more than those 5 places?)
