Well hello there
I just returned from the White Isle on Sunday afternoon after a tremendously long wait for a plane from Ibiza to Glasgow, only to arrive to find my better halfs suitcase missing. Not a happy homecoming in the rain. But alas... we had an amazing holiday, read on...
Arrived on Sunday morning at about 5 am, got to our apartment to discover amazing sea and mountain view over the main strip of Portinatx. Had a wee seat outside till the sun started coming up before having a mini nap. Got up about 9 or 10 and headed downstairs for a good old spanish omelette and pint of coke, which was very pleasant. Spent the rest of day wandering round Portinatx having various drinks in various locations. Finished the evening with a large Sangria and fillet steak. All is well.
Next day, hired a wee car from Avis. We were slightly let down by Avis this year as the little Renault Clio Campus we were given was in a pretty bad state, bumpers hanging off, sand all over the inside. So we pointed it out to the guy at the office who marked if on his sheet. I dont think they have great cleaning facilities at Portinatx so we gave them the benefit of the doubt.
Saw our first sunset on Monday night over at San Antonio on the rocks before a yummy dinner at Coastline. Had a wander round the town a wee bit before heading back up the road to Portinatx. (the only downfall of this trip was the incredibly long journey from portinatx to.... anywhere really).
Next day did a bit of exploring the north of the Island, visited Cala D'en Serra and Cala San Vincent before dinner at a restaurant on the seafront at Santa Eularia. All yummy.
The rest of the holiday pretty much consisted of this type of thing. With a day trip to Ibiza town thrown in. Had a bit of a time parking but thanks to the guys in the car park who help u find a space and charge you three euros (worth it I reckon) we found a space no bother all three times we visited. Really enjoyed browsing the shops in ibiza town and had the pleasure of dining at La Oliva on our second last night. Delicious and immensly enjoyable.
Had a fantastic couple of nights at Savannah enjoying the delicious (but rather expensive) sangria and red thai curry. Im drooling at the thought!!
I won't go on much more, cause you get the idea. This was our second fortnight long trip to Ibiza, which we enjoyed greatly. Alas, we dont think we will be returning next year, in favour of a jaunt to New York. Also... I think a break from the Island will do us good, absent makes the heart and all that.....
had a fantastic time, accommodation was Apartments Del Rey, which had no air-conditioning (its only let down), but with the aid of a fan, we managed to get a good few nights sleep. Great views, great staff.
Oo yes, had a thunderstorm on the Thursday night which was spectacular and such a relief. Rain felt amazing on our sundried skin. Really great.
There are a few pictures in the General Chat bit....
Adios amigos. Hasta Luego!
xx
p.s. My partner and I were wondering, what is the deal with the attitude of some of the people on the Island. Maybe Im a fuddy duddy, but I couldnt help noticing the utter arrogance of some of its inhabitants and perhaps visitors.
Also the driving of some of the spanish was horrendous. Saw a couple of really nasty accidents. That really shocked us...
But overall... an excellent holiday.
