Ibiza June 2006 Review
Sunday - 4th June
Arrived in Ibiza in the early hours of the morning slightly inebriated and got a taxi to the Sirenis Jabeque Hotel in PDB. First of all had a laugh about the fact that we were 30 seconds down the road from where we stayed in sept last year, plus the fact that the apartments were boarded up!!! Put our watches forward to Ibiza time. Got some kip in ready for Space. On waking got in all our booze supplies and after many vodka limons lol we headed to Space for about 4pm or so we thought! As soon as I walked through those entrances my heart jumped for joy!!! I LOVE SPACE!!
Was really impressed with the outside bit this year, thought the layout was great.
Sent some texts to a few spot-lighters in the hope of meeting some new people. Had a good ol boogie and a bit of a wander round. Had a chill in the big yellow bubble!
Stayed there till about 7ish (or so we thought!) Tried to meet with fatphil, which proved to be very difficult and highly amusing!
Went for a drink at the Zanzibar and met some very mad bloke who kept frothing at the mouth!
Went back to our hotel for a change of clothing and some more much cheaper vodka limons!!! Headed back to Space and stopped off for some (rather crap) food on the way. After many amusing texts and phone conversations we eventually met with fatphil and what a top lad you were! Then back to SPACE!
My memory is a little bit hazy as to exactly what we did, but I do remember absolutely rocking it to Tania Vulcano and Jose someone or other (bollox cant remember his name!) met some great people who had excellent customer service lol!
Had a chill upstairs and had a lovely massage from an Ibiza Angel, think she was called Jade. Managed to throw my drink over this girl sat next to me, but thankfully she was sweet about it and we ended up chatting for hours! Had no concept of time at all, but decided to go and see who was on in the main room. Sasha and Digweed were on and tbh I didn’t think much of them. The music was ok, but personally I thought it could have done with a bit more oooomph! And god they’re boring to watch!!! Some girl behind was screaming at him, which was hilarious and not long after we left! Was gutted we missed Steve Lawler and Carl Cox, but any concept of time had evaded us hours before lol!
Had a gorgeous walk home along the beach and once again made me want to live there. What more can you ask for than a fantastic night clubbing in one of the best clubs in the world and then to walk home barefooted on a deserted beach
Monday 5th June
After very little sleep and feeling slightly worse for wear, we forced down some breakfast closely followed by more vodka (it was medicinal). When we felt alive enough to face the outside world we headed off to DC10, we thought it was about 4pm (it wasn’t). As we didn’t have tickets we had to queue for quite a while, but there was some amusing people in the queue so it wasn’t too bad! Got in with my camera (which pleased me no end)!!! And straight away the place was buzzing! Tunes were wicked, got some more vodka in and had a boogie. Really needed to go to the loo so went on a mission to find them, when I did I went into the toilet on the right hand side, next to the wall. Girls a word of warning- DON’T COMPLETELY SHUT THE DOOR!!!! There was no light in there, no window and no handle on the inside, so I was stuck in this tiny, pitch black boiling room with no air for a few minutes!!!!!
Not the best place to be when you’ve had a heavy night and are feeling slightly fragile! After searching around the door to try and find any way of opening it, I managed to find a tiny hole I could put my finger in, with all the strength my little finger could muster, I opened the door eventually, breaking my nail and making my finger bleed in the process!!!!! Im unsure as to whether I still have a bit of DC10’s bog door in-bedded in my finger! I was then calm enough to have a wee!!!!!! Went out to the terrace bit and jeez that place was busy and really hot, but absolutely kicking with right up my street tunes!
Managed to find a space next to a wall and stayed there for as long as we could take it! Met a cool guy who asked me if I was british and when I said yes, he said it was obvious because I was smiling or words to that effect!!!! Lol! Met quite a few top people in there and had even managed to get a seat for a while (even if it involved getting elbowed in the side to get it!!! I wasn’t shifting tho!
) Left there we thought about 11.45pm and headed off to Ibiza town for some Tapas! Don’t know why but I was hungry lol! Felt slightly paranoid sitting there in my silver hotpants, but thought oh well Im in Ibiza, who cares!
Tuesday 6th June
Feeling completely wiped out we decided to have a chill day on the beach, so walked along the beach and found a nice spot and lay down. Stayed there for the rest of the day and Pauly burnt all over lol!!!
Decided to give KM5 a try that night as we’d heard good reviews. Got there and WOW!! What a place, its absolutely gorgeous. Went to go to the restaurant but found out that you have to book at least a day in advance doh!!!
So we just stayed for a few drinks instead. The place is beautifully designed and the staff were really friendly. We will deffo book next time! Went to Ibiza town to one of our favourite restaurants and had a lovely meal and wine. Got a photo taken with the 2 ‘ladies’ from the bar next door! Top pic!
Wednesday 7th June
After having a lovely breakfast, we decided to hire a car and go for a drive. After discovering Cala (**** cant remember, but its the beach that you have to climb down a bit of a cliff and its never in the shade!) last June, we decided to go back there. Was my turn to drive this year and Ive got to say how much more sense does it make driving on the right? Id forgot how much better it is! Went for some lunch at this lovely restaurant right by the beach, which probably had the slowest service I have ever had in a restaurant (but we didn’t mind!) and they brought our main dish before our starter lol!!! It was lovely food tho! Must remember these places names next time lol! Had a sunbathe and paddle in the sea for a while then left to go for another drive. Decided we wanted to watch the sunset overlooking Es Vedra so went on a mission to find the best place to watch it. Ended up on someones private property and met this old hippie guy who told us to go and watch it from S'era Des Mataret (cheers McRackin!
) Eventually found it and WOW again, it was amazing, beautiful views and the sounds were really tranquil.
It was quite scary being that high and the cliff didn’t feel that safe! There were a few other people up there and also a few dogs not on leads, which kinda worried me. I was hoping no-one threw a ball!!!! The sun was almost set so we arsed around filming on paulys fone, making commenterys lol when I said to pauly that he had to say something while filming, so he said ok I’ll ask you something to which I jokingly replied ‘what to marry me’! to which he said ‘that’s exactly what I was going to ask’!!
He then said I was the best thing to ever happen to him and will I marry him
so of course I said YES!!!! I still wasnt sure if he was serious so I started laughing, but he told me that he was and then it was quite emotional. I couldn’t have imagined a better place to have been propsed to, it was amazing!
Eventually got back to the hotel after missing loads of turnings as I was in a bit of a trance lol and texted our family and friends to tell tem the good news, whilst proceeding to get completely slaughtered!
Thursday 8th June
Still trying to get it to sink in that I am now engaged to be married!!!
We decided to go shopping for a temporary ring In Ibiza Town! God it was hard work, they were either really tacky and cheap looking or really really expensive!!! After quite a few hours of looking we gave up and decided to go to another one of our favourite places and had some tapas with a couple of bottles of Turbio wine (highly recommend that wine) Went to San Antonio later on to do some more ring shopping and also to meet some Scottish girls that we had met at Space. Eventually found a ring which was just great for a temporary measure (till pauly can afford me a big rock lol! ) and then went off to Savannah for some food and to watch the very obscured sunset lol! Had some really nice food and while Orbital – Belfast was playing pauly once again asked me to marry him and placed the ring on my finger! It was dead sweet and romantic.
Got some complimentary champagne and we didn’t even tell them we got engaged lol! Top banana! Was wondering where the Scottish girls were so we texted them to find out, they said that they would be another hour or so, so we went to a new bar that’s on the corner opposite savannah for some free cocktails! Met a dead nice waitress who had only just come to Ibiza. While we were waiting for our Scottish mates, who we thought were very late, we rang them to see where they were, they told us that they would be there by 11pm and we were like its 11.45pm now?? And they said no it isn’t its about 9.30pm!!!! We got confirmation and then realised that we had spent most of our holiday about 2 hours ahead!!!
So that suddenly explained our tiredness when we thought we were getting up at 11.30am (it was actually 9.30!!) we used to start drinking at 12pm, but it wasn’t lol!!! Realised then why we missed Carl Cox and Steve Lawler at Space!!! Decided to go back to PDB for an early night as we were pretty pissed by then lol!!!!
Friday 9th June
The day was a bit cloudy so we decided to go and have our free game of tennis! Pauly decided to show off that he is actually really good at it and proceeded to slam the ball at me on his serves!
I lost lol! But it felt good to get a bit of exercise, even if I was battered and bruised from being hit by tennis balls! Chilled out for the rest of the day getting more and more excited about Pacha! I hate to admit this but we did actually go to a pub to watch the BB eviction.
A bit later on we went into Ibiza Town for some lovely food before going to Pacha Pacha Pacha!!!
Have been dying to see Laurent Garnier for as long as I can remember! And he didn’t disappoint, he was awesome and what a nice guy too. I love Pacha, theres something about that place that makes me feel all warm and snuggly! I love the atmosphere, the layout even the smell of it! Met some really cool people who we spent most of the night with and are going back in sept with them for the closing parties. Went back to the apartment very contented with our night!
Saturday 10th June
Our last day
Had to get up early as we had to be out of our room by 12pm. Eventually got out by about 1ish! Chilled for most of the afternoon on the beach and then went to Bora Bora to meet up with the people who we met at Pacha. They were kind enough to let us chill out at their hotel for a while and to have showers as we weren’t flying till 3am or something silly like that!! Decided to take them to a tapas restaurant we found last year, that is run by ‘Tulip’!!
Had a fantastic meal and found out that ‘Tulip’ used to play rugby in the stadium at the back of my house in Wales!!! He knew loads of people that I knew, even one of my school teachers lol!!! Small world eh! Eventually left and said goodbye to everyone and then had to get a taxi to the airport to catch our flight
boo hoo!! Was delayed for over 2 hours so sat in Ibiza airport people watching and making plans to come back out in Sept!
I hope you enjoyed reading that, if you made it this far lol!! Ibiza just gets better everytime I go there
and we're planning on getting married there next year
