My Review Ibiza - August 2014 (Good and Bad)

Just back from another wild vacation to Ibiza and Formentera.

Clubbing

This year was far more crowded than 2013. Pacha was packed so tight that nobody could actually dance in the main room, and many people were refused entry because they had reached maximum capacity (get in early!). The main room in Amnesia was overcrowded but there was plenty of room to dance near the bar (nobody was buying any drinks). I was surprised to see many people smoking cigarettes in Amnesia. The Disco bus was packed every time. The price is now 3 euros. The inward journey was very noisy (everyone is over excited). The outward journey is much more relaxed (everyone is half asleep). I never spent too much time at the bars, except for Bora-Bora.

Weather

The weather was pretty insane this time. On Saturday 16th August it rained 'heavy' for the entire day, and I mean non-stop torrential rain. It caught everyone by surprise. There was also 2 cloudy days, so cloudy it was cold throughout the day, and the cloud was so thick there was no Sunset! Everyone in San Antonio was left upset by this. The Sun just vanished behind the heavy clouds about 3 hours before Sunset and that was it! Luckily the next day, the Sunset was fantastic, so that made up for it.

Formentera

Never go in mid-August. It was impossible to enjoy the island. The beaches were over crowded, so crowded you could not even see the beach, and the people were really ignorant and snobby, and clearly not Ibiza material. The beaches at ses Salines are far nicer. I would only go back to Formentera during a much quieter season.

Traffic

The motorists in Ibiza are very good. Everytime I tried to cross the road the cars would stop everytime, and even when I was standing near the edge of the road and merely looking across, the cars would stop and assume I wanted to cross. lol. I wish we had drivers like that back home.

:D

Long live Ibiza 2014

I've always said the whole notion of girls not being "available" in Ibiza is b*llox ... :D You're never too old to make those sorts of "mistakes". As to the street hookers it's such a tourist thing - unbelievable. Anyone with any sense goes to a proper brothel if they want to pay for it !

Formentera is pure hell once the Italians take up residence in August. It's like some sort of sardine can - far too small for all those people and manners not in evidence anywhere.

Been stuff in the press over here about how blatent the dealing is on the beaches this year. I'd expect it in the West End or in bars but I think personally it's pretty grim to be solicited to buy charlie and pills when you're on a sunbed. Yuk.

PS - the drivers slow down at pedestrian crossings to let you cross because it's the law - note if you ever rent a car because Spanish assume people know this and will just walk out. If you hit them it'll be your fault !

Had a lot of problems cause they literally jump in the street!!!!! And if u rent a car usually doesn't have ABS

Still, the worst is trying to get through Playa d'en Bossa near Space/Ushuaia or West End at night because you almost cannot drive through - wasted people falling into the road everywhere and the taxi drivers think you are an illegal taxi if you are in a hire car - so they are aggressive just because you are on the road, as if they are the only people allowed to be there ! At least you don't have the taxi aggression like this in San Antoni, just the wasted people.

I like your review.
Funny how Englishman are perceived in general everyone is an individual. Generalizations are insufficient. Individuals matter, efforts matter, many things matter but what matters most is respect not generalizations based on whole. And this is not directed at the post although it has good observations. It is directed at the peanut gallery. Mainly in Toronto.

The irony of this

..
Whichever way.
