Hola,

Taken a few days to recover and the memory is still pretty hazy...but here's my review and where we went/what we did and what we got up to in our week in Ibiza....

Just a tiny bit of background......this was (i think) my 14th visit over the years, 12 of us flew out and met another 3 out there..

Tuesday 6th:
Up early with excitement levels through the roof..a bit of last minute packing etc and then the cab is outside to take us round to my mates for some pre airport drinks. Taxi driver tells me he used to live in Ibiza (why do i always get these cabbies?!?!) and advises me to 'ask for Pedro is Es Canar, say you know me, he will sort you out with a great boat trip'!!......several pre airport and airport drinks later...we take off on time. Walking down the plane stairs onto the runway is always a lovely moment for me....back again and it never fails to bring a smile! and this year...**** me its hot!!! Warmest it has been in September compared to previous trips around the same time.

We get down to PDB to the Arlanza apartments - exactly what was expected, reasonably quiet, clean and a great base for the trip. Few more drinks and then get ready and meet up at Tantra for pre Amnesia drinks...Tonight's closing party has been discussed at length on this board with regards to the change in line up etc, and being honest it was an average (in Ibiza terms) night. Musically up and down although Prydz's new tune (Tonight i think its called) is a monster. We leave around 5.30 and all pile back to the apartment and crack on....

Wednesday 7th:
After no sleep we head down to the Jet pool on PDB beach armed with various supplies. A day of carnage ensues and we drag ourselves back to the apts to change before heading over to San An for meal/sunset/birthday celebrations at Savannah. Food was excellent and the cocktails (as ever) were great. By the time the meal had finished it was gone midnight, so a few us myself included headed back to PDB for some much needed sleep and recovery!

Thursday 8th:
Feeling refreshed I was up early and headed down to the beach where we made camp in front of Bora Bora - a few drinks and some sun and then back early to change for Ushuaia and Space. Waited an age to get in to Ushuaia even with pre bought internet tickets but the venue itself is lovely and the whole set up is different level to any other 'outdoor' venue i have been to. Luciano was top notch (even with that dodgy Britney record) and the atmosphere was friendly.

tbc tomorrow....

Sorry!!

Thursday 8th (continued) & Friday 9th
And so, across the road to Space. I had been really looking forward to this night in terms of the line up and musically i certainly wasn't disappointed!! Shaun Reeves early on and Troxler later on were both outstanding! I personally had a cracking night, but a few from our group commented that they thought the crowd wasn't over friendly and hence the atmosphere felt a bit intimidating. I didn't notice this at all, but they also said that the security was over the top which i did notice. Not long after we got in there a doorman came over to me and pulled me away from the group and said he had just seen me take something (i hadn't), he was quite agressive about it. No need really at all, but I just got on with it.
Afterwards we headed back to the apartments and carried on, then hit the beach. Had a sleep for a bit late afternoon and then a few quiet drinks Friday night in Coco's which, as ever, was decent.

Saturday 10th
A few delicate heads and minds today after Thu/Fri so a quietish morning and early afternoon round the Jet pool ensued. Late afternoon the lads headed off to watch the football and the girls headed back to the apartment to get ready for our meal at Aura that evening. Aura was fantastic, the food, the service, the setting was all top notch. We had booked for 12 people at 9pm. I was a little concerned before we went that the group was too large as I think sometimes the service can suffer if the group is too big, but there were no problems at all and it was honestly one of the best meals I have had in Ibiza. We rounded the night off back in PDB with a few drinks and Cocos and then reasonably early to bed

Sunday 11th
The original plan was to have a quietish day and night in preparation for the marathon of Monday, so we hot the beach early. A bit of sun, food and a few drinks later all plans are out the window and we are sitting in Tantra smashing the vodka before Space! Cracking night - we got there early for We Love nowadays, at 10...spent a couple of hours on the Sunset Terrace and Premier Etage and then headed inside to the new terrace...Lottie in there was the surprise set of the holiday, she doesn't really get any big gigs in England anymore but she played a blinder!! GA on afterwards started really nicely too but it got far too busy so we headed back upstairs, caught a bit of Steffi in the Red Box and then headed home about 3ish.

Monday 12th
Last full day and night. DC10 was unreal - though i prefer inside to the terrace which goes against the general view of people. I just don't think the sound system on the terrace is very good. Art Department inside were amazing. Then off to Cocoon via dropping off some casualties in PDB. Cocoon was good as always, top notch production and ice cannons galore. Sven was Sven - very similar set to Coccoon in the Park in Leeds in July. It wasn't as busy as previous Cocoon nights i have been to - not sure if this has been a theme across the season or not??

Tuesday 13th
Packed, went for lunch, went the airport, went home. Hate the last day!!!

Overall - a cracking trip and a nice mix of smashing it and relaxing. This was first time I had been for as long as a week for a few years and it was good to have a bit more time rather than trying to cram everything into a few days.

Best laid plans and all that 8)

Great review - glad you had a good one :D

Sounds like a nice relaxed trip with enough parties to keep you satisfied ! 8).

Interesting re Tonight @ Amnesia (music up & down) and Cocoon numbers being down. Kind of got that impression as the season progressed and feedback started coming in. Guess they were both "ok to good" rather than blinding ?

Surprised you didn't stay for Ernesto Altes' party having gone all the way up there - went to an absolutely blinding night of his at Aura in early June (though arrived after 1.00am, which was about right for it getting busy after late sitting diners had finished and hit the dancefloor).

I agree with the sound comment on the DC10 terrace.

Too much vibration (I'm no physics expert!)

Inside, the sound is quality.

Were Art Department on around 10pm? If so, I liked that a lot.

The problem with Tonight was exactly what was discussed on here when they changed the line up. The Annie Mac thing isn't my bag at all (though each to their own and all that) and the moving of Beyer into the main room really sent the programming strange!

Don't get me wrong Amnesia was busy - just not totally rammed which it has been at previous cocoon shows i have been to. It was a good night, just didn't grab me as much musically as much as DC10 earlier in the day and Kekahuma earlier in the week..

the sound on the terrace is decent in certain areas of the terrace. but a soundsystem needs to be good in all areas of the room - and it is defo too bassy/too much vibration especially where you walk into the terrace...

Yeah, it was Art Department who were on then, they were excellent...loving that remix they played of Fly Life (heard that out a few times in the week). Then Kenny Larkin after Art Dept was excellent too.....old school Detroit vibes!

You cannot beat a bit of coco's. Good ol' Brian.
