My rambling review of our two weeks! Done whilst dealing with a severe case of Post Ibiza blues!

Well to start with the idea that myself and Sarah would go away on holiday with friends for more than a couple of days again without the kids didn't even enter into our heads until a call from my Mum (who moved out to Spain last year) asking if she could have our girls for a fortnight at her place!…Well this all coincided with our friend Gabbi announcing at a soiree round at ours the weekend after my mother's announcement that she'd like to spend her 30th birthday in Ibiza!:idea::idea: Well I was total and utterly made up and could not belieive my luck!!!! Just the small matter of convincing Sarah that we should go to Ibiza for our two weeks alone together.... Sarah although she loves it when she is in Ibiza is a staunch member (and probably rightly so) of the 'there's plenty of other places in the world' camp! So after much discussion and negotiation Sarah gave it the thumbs 8)up on the condition that the first week would be spent with friends doing whatever the group of us wanted to do followed by a more sedate 2nd week enjoying some of the Island! The plan was Perfect apart from one factor my best m8 announced a month before we were due to go that he’d had an offer excepted on a house so he wasn’t coming anymore:cry::cry:… this was v.bad news as I knew he’d still be raring to go when the others were wanting to head for their beds!
Here goes…

June 22nd
Up at 4a.m for me with two very excited girls on route to Nanny's in Spain! arrive with my parents in Los Nietos and spend a lovely day with them and the girls - went to a lovely fish restaurant in the port of cabo and then off to catch my flight early evening back to blighty to meet up with the rest of the gang! I should of really stayed the night and got the ferry from Valencia to Ibiza I know this now but in my excitement to get it booked up I ended up having a very Carbon heavy couple of days!:spank:

June 23rd
Up again at 4am this time with 6 very excited people on route to East Midlands airport again! On our way to Ibiza! Yes....I've been toooooo excited about this for far too long as Sarah would testify too! arrive over Ibiza.... fly past Es Vedra 3 times..... please land!!!! After eventually finding our car hire firm at the airport, it was mission on via the map given to us which didn’t include the motorway to find villa Can Cardona in Puig d'en valls... found reasonably quickly and dropped our bags… pleased to see the villa had it’s own decks…

Then head out for supplies!

Had a "little" bit of a car problem arriving back at the villa:oops:.... How we laughed at the 'looks like we've over done it on the sherry gag':lol:............ It was all too much to think about today so decided it best to relax and contact them monday! Had a great first day by the pool with some bubbly, beers, general silliness and some choons.... cheers Chewie for no. 148) (much respect I love it and it did sound even better with the sun beating down and that first day in Ibiza Yes feeling!)

As it was one of the girls with us first time in Ibiza we decided to get taxi's down to Mambo for sunset...Why do people clap when the sun goes down? I used to think it some how fit listening to Bruno’s set at CDM but not just the sun going down? Am I getting cynical in my old age!

June 24th
The day we'd all been waiting for.....We love of course! Chilled around the pool in the morning then had a lovely bbq at the villa with some lovely fresh tuna steaks and Dorada...delicious! Finally off to PDB to check out what was happening at the 'new' bora and where was it etc etc.... found it at the tahiti where the tunes were nice but not a great deal going on there apart from one guy dancing on his own doing a strange 'I'm gonna touch myself I'm dead sexy' dance! :lol:Fair play to that man! then off to Tantra to meet another friend before heading finally to Space! Dont know what time it was when we finally got there but I was off the scale excited now!!! Saw several of you guys but only managed to speak to John (Morbyd) and Soulman – Nice to meet you both.

Sarah…

also did kinda catch Jessy on the hop at the bar but was on my way with drinks and think from John's review you may of had abit of a weight on your shoulders? didn't see you again though to say hello sorry! Also saw the newly weds Sarah and Tom and you definitely looked newly married too and didn't want to intrude (and I'm very shy too of course) also ran into Stivi (nostrum) good to meet you too fella... pic incident was rather amusing!

P6240249.jpg

onto the shenanighans... who rocked it for me... Jason Bye I thought was brilliant8)... Tom Novy also I thought was ace particularly when he dropped one of my fav tunes at the mo… 8)8)Andrea Oliva's Sombatiki.... Yes So So So Good a real hairs stand up on the back of neck moment for me!!!!! I love it! downstairs in discoteca Mr C rocked it…followed by the Ed Bangers who I'd not heard anything of before:?: but wow those guys rocked the place playing a very different but infinitely enjoyable set! Sarah left not long after the terrace shut with two of our friends leaving me with the two friends on their first trip to Ibiza. We head home at about 6 when the others said they were tired and wanting to head back to the villa! I suddenly found that my legs wouldn't work anymore anyway!!! (particularly my left which was really aching) so we headed back to the villa where everyone then crashed out....apart from me who decided it was time for some tunes by the pool and a couple of beers before bed!
June 25th
A few beers before for bedtime seemed like a good idea at the time until it reached early afternoon and everyone was up again and I was still up probably looking quite scary! My friends all noticed straight away strange mark on my left leg… So this is why my left leg was aching so much!… appears I may of burst a blood vessel in leg to the side of my knee… didn’t look particularly attractive but hey-ho it wasn’t hurting anymore…thinking I may have to rest it??? Finally passed out rather stupidly on a lilo (where else?) in the pool! Think I woke at about 8 with a towel over me on the lilo and headed off rather sheepishly to my proper bed for a couple more hours! Went off that evening for something to eat… the guys had decided on Coastline… definitely not my choice and even more so after going there! We did have the fantastic circular table in the corner which was lovely however the food was dreadful… fussy and everything had….uuuurrrgh dried herbs chucked all over it! Would not go back there! The avacado and prawns looked like someone had chewed them up and then put them into a ball..oh not forgetting dropping the dried herb **** all over them! Yuk! Now I love cooking although have never worked in a kitchen but why the **** would you chuck dried herbs over everything? Anyway then headed off for a few drinks whilst trying to convince the others to go to Cocoon! None of them up were up for it so we headed back to the villa! Booo!!!
June26th ( black Tuesday)
Chilled quite literally inside the villa in the air con feeling the affects of the day before, probably a good thing I hadn’t gone to Cocoon! Feeling so so sick that I missed going out that evening for Gabbi’s birthday…her choice was Bambuddha Grove followed by trying out Kissdafunk at El Divino… I’d even bought our tickets before hand too but yesterdays John Travolta was very much today’s Jack Duckworth and had to cry off! Booo!!!!!
June 27th
Feeling loads better went to do abit of shopping in Ibiza town and a spot of brunch – guys in Café Tomate very friendly and a couple of Warsteiner’s (Never tried it before it’s excellent) Then headed down to Tahiti whilst the others slept off Kissdafunk of which they told me before they’d crashed out that I’d had a lucky escape! The rest of the guys weren’t really up for much that night so we headed off into Ibiza town that evening for a general meander around and a couple of drinks!
June 28th
Everyone feeling up for it we headed out to the beach…had brekkie in the little shack restaurant up on the left of Cala Llonga beach first then we had in previous years had fun at Cala San Vincente hiring a boat etc so we headed off there. Dropped our stuff paid for our sunbeds and we all (with the exception of Sarah) ran into the sea like excited kids… it was only when we were all in that we noticed that there were literally hundreds of jellyfish in the water and we noticed that we also seemed to be the only people in the sea… so we exited in the same manner we entered in! Stayed for a little while and then decided to head for Benirras finally for the first time in all my years of going to Ibiza! I absolute loved everything about Benirras… the beach, how excellent it is for swimming, the Smoothy bar is excellent, we tried all 3 restaurants during our fortnight in the end….oh and the sunsets of course! Just the whole vibe of the place it is very much worth the journey!

Headed back after Sunset to get changed and then out to the Pacha Restaurant for Dinner (have to celebrate Gabbi’s birthday tonight instead!)…the sushi was lovely as were the mojito’s too! and then into the club to catch John Digweed, Jimmy Van M and Hernan Cattaneo at the Renaissance Opening!
I really enjoyed Diggers set although the girls found the whole night abit flat and wanted to go quite early… managed to hold out til about 5. Leg seemed ok too!
June 29th
Full day and Sunset at Benirras
SunsetatBenniras.jpg

Friends stayed at the El Hotel last year and wanted to eat in the restaurant there so had booked a table prior to our trip so we headed off there for a lovely meal out on the terrace by the pool… the staff in the hotel are lovely by the way and the bar area is very under-used! I was expecting it to be abit pretentious but it was anything but!! Just really friendly! After the meal they invited us for drinks in the bar…I swear they serve the strongest drinks I’ve ever tasted in my life! We then headed over the road for Pure Pacha! I was having a fantastic night… the rest of my gang were again finding the music a little flat… I was definitely missing my partner in crime and man in the trenches when the going gets tough… not a bad effort though considering they weren’t having the best of nights and the ‘shoe’ issue had raised it’s ugly head again! I gave in reluctantly at 5.30! Leg seemed ok but did have a paranoia halfway the night! And Why do girls where such impractical shoes for dancing???
June 30th
A couple of hours sleep and feeling abit green we were up and it was time to pack up our things and leave villa Can Cardona and head off to talamanca for Sarah and I to check into the Argos Hotel, two of our friends were going to stay in another villa and the other two of our friends were going home that evening so were going to tag along and spend the day with us by the pool! To our complete horror when we arrived at the hotel we were told that they’d double booked us and we would have to stay in another hotel for one night! You can imagine we weren’t best pleased, given that we’d booked it in December, to put it mildly! Aafter a negotiation we agreed to stay in the Simbad Hotel for one night and they promised us a room with a sea view and free drinks for the duration of our stay on our return to Argos! We waved our friends off that evening and had a late siesta and decided to take advantage of our location for the evening being on the other side of Talamanca bay and went for dinner at Sa Punta! I cannot recommend this place enough… a wonderful location, the food was amazing as were all the staff there! Definitely highly recommended!
Sunday 1st
We made breakfast at Hotel Simbad before heading off to check in at Argos again!!!! Dropped our bags off in the room and decided to knock the cob webs off further by a go on the jet ski on talamanca beach absolutely great fun I’ve gotta to get myself one of those!!!!! On going back to our room found a bottle of champagne waiting for us and basket of fruit… very nice touch we thought and the perfect pre-space warm up!!! Taxi to PDB and have a quick visit to Passion (our only visit this year) for a bite to eat… managed a quarter of the passion burger which was huge! Then onto Tantra again, see the chap there behind the bar who I’d had a laugh with last week and he insists on plying me with Hierbas! Onwards to Space.. Highlights again for me was the fun on the terrace…Jason Bye & Tom Novy (I didn’t mind him on the mic as I thought it lifted what I found was a far more subdued terrace than last week) Inside to the new terrace…
Now I bought the We Love double cd with riton and serge santiago which I really like! However for me Senor Santiago live… well his mixing is flawless but his set was so flat and I don’t recall seeing him looking up from the decks the whole two hours he was on?:spank: He also looked like he was bored! Next up Danny Howells 8)who I really enjoyed and who looked like he was enjoying himself too! Below is a track I heard played a few times whilst there which I love does anyone know what it is? Excuse my filming I had to record it in the hope that someone could tell me what it is?

http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?...60758439577570

I did see in someone else is review can’t remember who they’d go to Space for just Terrace and leave well that’s where Sarah is at too! For me I love the terrace but also really like discoteca too but can’t really feel much love for the new ‘old’ terrace as it feels too light and like everyone’s trying to get somewhere! I found a position this time on the raised bar area on the far right which I reckon is about the best spot to avoid the wandering folk! We left after Danny Howells finished at around 3am.
Monday 2nd
Start of the quiet week…This was going to be very different & difficult for me in Ibiza…Might actually get to read a book!
Drove to check out Cala Moli on our way to spend the day at Cala Comte… the name of the restaurant escapes me but was very nice believe they have dj’s there at sunset! Spent the evening in Ibiza Town
Tuesday 3rd
Day at Benirras again with friends and some pedalo fun… it’s further than you think to get out to the phalic rock isn’t it! Stayed for sunset… really enjoyed the swimming there particularly early evening! That Evening we went off to try out Cala d’en Serra…
P7030483.jpg

had been really looking forward to this however the wind really picked up that evening was so strong that they had to pull down the blinds and the girls were cold. The meal was very nice though, but the menu I thought was a little limited with only had half a dozen dishes on it and one of the dishes not being available that night. I would recommend though as although the menu doesn’t have a lot on it what they do is excellent… I think we tried it all between us!
Wednesday 4th
To go to the Hippy Market at es cana was something Sarah wanted to dot so we spent a few hours there! then headed off to Benirras for lunch and for a swim then back to our hotel and as we’d received a call from our friends annoucing their engagement! Brilliant News and as Subliminal was the plan for the evening we booked a table at the restaurant again! Excellent Sushi again and lots of Pink bubbles as requested by the girls! And then into see Erick rock Pacha!. This was the girls favourite night and I have to say Mr Morillo was fantastic on the night dropping enough classics in amongst some other great stuff… I remember Axwell I found you (remode mix) going down very well indeed…. He also dropped IIO Rapture one of Sarah’s all time favourites so we all left happy just after 7am!

Thursday 5th
Up early afternoon and light bite at Bar Flotante right by our hotel – keeping us entertained for a while was a little boy throwing in bread for the fish and hundreds of them swarming around after the bread! Kept us amused in our Post Pacha state for a while anyway then spent the day on the lovely Talamanca beach and actually had a meal in the hotel and has some of our complimentary drinks courtesy of their faux par! Then into Ibiza town for a walk around and a few drinks where ever we ended up which turned out to be Café Tomate again.
Friday 6th
Benirras all day again… the trip home on Sunday looming now and I loved it there! Met Some friends in the evening and ate at Bambuddha Grove
Saturday 7th
Ventured out to Cala D’Hort for our last day and had a lovely paella at Es Boldodo. Quiet evening in Ibiza Town
Sunday 8th
On our way home a different holiday this time a lot less clubs than usual but just as enjoyable and managed to convert Sarah a little bit more so we might just get back for a couple of days next year!

Recommendations:-
Can Cardona is a wonderfully presented well thought out villa, we had a very relaxing stay there apart from… cockerels, chickens, and pigeon coop in the farm right next door though!
Favourite Restaurant… Sa Punta… fantastic food, brilliant setting and really lovely people can’t recommend enough!
Apart from the initial double booking Hotel Argos is in a lovely location and Talamanca is perfect! The staff at the hotel are great too and don’t think it was any fault of there’s for double online bookings.
Beachwise I fell in love with Benirras and wish I’d got up there before this year… We preferred the restaurant directly behind the beach on it’s own… the avacado and prawns are great!
Favourite club night\day… Space in the sunshine Sunday afternoon on the terrace! Not a lot is gonna beat that feeling? Although the Subliminal night was ace too!8)

p.s. I actually read and finished a book in Ibiza too! "yes man" by Danny Wallace… Thanks for the recommendation! Have now bought "join me" by him too!8)

¡Optimistamente ibiza que veré usted otra vez pronto, hasta entonces las memorias de una gran vacaciones que tengo!

ibiza en el corazón!!

Truly great to meet you & Sarah, Jez. :D

Sad I didn't run into you again at Renaissance. That was an ace night, wasn't it?! Digweed started a bit slow but just rocked by the end and Cattaneo was just awesome.

Fair warning - I am stealing that photo for my website!

I tried to get hold of you on your mobile, keep getting mobile out of service:confused:

I enjoyed the Renaissance night, agreed on the start of the night!

Help yourself to the pic:D

Whoa! Nearly fell off my chair when I saw that pic of John & I at 6am this morning. Nice to meet you sir! :D

How you and John can remember so much in your reviews beats me, I'm struggling to put together where I was each day, let alone where I drank & ate. Haven't even attempted a review

I think it's the size that gets ya... hopefully we're not THAT scary looking

My whole purpose in writing a review is to try and recover my memory as quickly as possible, because otherwise I will forget what we did in a few days time. It takes quite a while to get it all down too! (though I did keep a list in my phone of restaurants we visited... my intention is to do some restaurant reviews at some point)

Jez - roaming is pants. sometimes calls don't go through  Anyway, hope we'll catch up another time in a (slightly?) more sober state! :D

It came out well didn't it8)

I had help from Sarah trying to remember when we did what and was aided by the date of the pics too! I found it to have quite a cleansing effect doing my review this time remembering just how much we got up to! Looking back we didn't hammer the hotel anywhere near enough on the free drinks:confused:
