What a trip, I’m told it was a holiday but seemed to have an element of boot camp, but that’s what puts a smile on my face!
Arrived on Friday evening, checked into hotel then straight to the bar, while everything got sorted!! . Then into Ibiza Town to the Rock bar to kick off the stag party element of the trip. About 3am about 15 of us headed to Pure Pacha, the memory isn’t that clear but the music was brilliant, Pete Tong has gone up massively in my estimations. It was great to be back in Pacha and even the drinks seemed cheaper than last year, anyway got split up from everyone and proceeded to spend an hour and a half wandering (very dazed) around Pacha trying to find people I knew and despite the fact there were so many of us, it just wasn’t happening. Have vivid memories of walking through tunnels and bits of Pacha I didn’t know about. The night ended brilliantly and we then went swimming in Talamanca at 8 am, that was weird.
After moving into our apartment the stag party moved to the water park, where one of the group got chucked out after 5 minutes for swimming in the wrong pool and argueing with the very arsey staff.
Then Bora Bora, it just gets better and better there and especially with the stag dressed up as Robin (from Batman), did some serious drinking – a new experience in Ibiza then Gee played a brilliant set. Didn’t think much of the bouncers but did laugh when they tried to chuck Robin out and Gee told them to f*** off. Finally burst about 11 and went home.
Decided not to go to Space until later in the day to try and make sure that I lasted until Lawlers set which was absolutely superb, although I didn’t notice much difference inside after the refurb. It was weird being in Space at night and was like going to a new club, probably my best time in Space although I did miss being there at 9am which is what Ibiza is all about.
Monday was spent chilling then to Pacha sushi lounge for dinner followed by free entry into Release Yourself, what a night, Roger Sanchez played some excellent tunes and the whole place went off, one of my best nights, it was also good fun trying to find all the places I was wandering around in on Friday night. ( I would strongly recommend Release Yourself over Manumission although everyone should go to Manumission once).
Tuesday recovering then Groove Armada and Darren Emerson another great but messy night with excellent tunes, the memory is starting to go.
Wednesday was excellent, with most of the group departed the stag decided to rent a big motorboat for the day, we got to Formentara in about 20 mins and spent the day going from beach to beach, chilling and drinking lots of champagne, it was the only way to cope with no drugs and no sleep The boat was absolutely beautiful and we all felt like kings (until we saw Coral Reef) after finding out that it would take too much fuel (v expensive) to go to Es Vedra and Atlantis we decided to go to Salinas where we had a BBQ on the boat which finished the day off beautifully.
Cant remember Wed night but on Thurs we hired a car and did a bit of a tour ending up in Cala Vadella which is a lovely beach. A new restaurant had just opened that did great Agentinian steaks and so commenced the eating part of the holiday, that night we went to another great restaurant in Dalt Villa (El Bistro I think) and then some of the group went to Cream. Friday was Cala d’Hort, not one of the best beaches but definitley the best view, a view that I could never get bored of. We then went to Mambos for Pete Tong and sunset, surprisingly good considering I don’t really like San An and was fun listening to Radio 1 whilst in Ibiza and not dreaming about it. Back to the apartment for messiness then the next morning we packed up and went home via the beach and some friends villa.
Suprisingly I wasn’t that sad to be leaving, probably because the week had something of everything and probably the fact that I was absolutely knackered and just wanted my bed.
Hope you enjoyed the review, now I’m off to get another credit card so I can go back in September.
