I only arrived back from Valencia yesterday evening very tired thankfully i had today off work as i seriously needed a decent sleep, back to work and reality tomorrow anyway here is a report on my holiday in Ibiza (and Valencia)sorry it's a long one
Day 1-Flew from Dublin to Valencia thankfully no bags gone missing or that,my friends checked into their hotel while i went to my hostel (gotta save the €€€) i chilled for a while and went walkabouts in Valencia, very nice place, unlike Madrid or Barca not as many tourists, anyway later met up with Johnny and Lisa my friends and we chilled in some square beside the Cathedral in the centre of Valencia and drank and eat until late,we were amazed at how many couples were getting married at least 10 and all getting filmed, was still very warm and humid later on.
Day 2-I was on an early afternoon flight to Ibiza with Vueling (good airline)was suprised at how quick it took only about 20 mins or so,arrived to a packed Ibiza airport got my bags then a taxi to Talamanca where i was staying, checked in,dumped my bags and met the others by the pool who had been on an earlier flight,we chilled by the pool for the day in glorious sunshine, later on we had a meal locally, then i had arranged to meet up with my Irish contact who's living there for the summer to "sort us out" for the nite ahead in El Divino,we eventually met him and we had some drinks in some little bar right beside El Divino at the port right beside all the expensive yachts
About 1.30am we entered El Divino, very nice club indeed,CJ Mackintosh was on the decks playing some cool house,we ordered some beers knew it would be a tenner a bottle but you still get a shock when you actually hand over the money anyway as the nite went on we had a great nite,Tony Humphries was on next and he played a brilliant funky house and garage set to a nice crowd, spoke to some Americans,Belgians and some English and all were nice people, left about 6.45 and it was still going, got a taxi back to the hotel straight to bed.
Day 3-Woke earlier than expected @ 1pm,got up had some lunch, went to Talamanca beach,it's not bad but i expected better but at least it's not crowded, spent the day there, went back to Hotel, little siesta,we weren't going clubbing that nite so went to a lovely little Tapas bar right beside the entrance to the old town, had a lovely meal,i drank too much vino we went back to the Hotel about 2.30am and to bed.
Day 4-2 more friends of ours arrived that day from Dublin they were staying in Figueratas, after they checked in they come to our Hotel (Hotel Victoria) and met us,we spent the day drinking by the pool and swimming, that nite we met them in their apartment, had some drinks and went to Space for Laurent Garnier and Carl Cox,Space is a cool club and the lightshow and entertainment was top class but it was packed and very hot, noticed it was €1 cheaper than El Divino for a beer,Laurent Garnier played a gret set,Cox came on and was slamming, played some really quality tunage and the atmosphere was really good, also worth a mention was the smaller room upstairs where you can look down through glass onto the main room, the DJ there played some vintage club classics, things got a bit blurry as the nite went on we eventually left about 7am and back to the hotel.
Day 4-Woke and felt very dehydrated and hungover but while the others slept i met other friends in Figueratas and made it to Playa D'en Bossa beach for Bora Bora, the beach was really too packed and the water isn't nice at all full of sand,we stayed for a while then i went back to hotel, that nite we werent going clubbing so went for dinner in a cracking little Restaurant in the old town called Escalon top class food and very good value for money,i know it was opposite a shop called Las Noches a one of the girls decided @ 1am to indulge in a spot of retail theraphy (birds and shopping eh ) anyway we then went for drinks in Ibiza Town until 4am and went back to hotel,i was quite drunk by this time
Day 5-Woke about 2pm,some food, straight to Playa D'en Bossa again where the beach was only a quarter as full as the previous day which was cool, chilled and danced a bit beside some small bar on the beach just up from Bora Bora with a DJ spinning some cool House tunes, had a ride on the bannana boat which nearly ended in disaster for me,it was ok falling off 3 times but the 4th time i gulped some water and it got stuck in my throat and i couldnt' breathe, thankfully someone else helped me out of the water and i got a lift back to land on a jet ski but it wasn't very pleasant and id think twice before going on a bannana boat again, anyway i was ok after a while and had a dance @ Bora Bora,it's a cool place something else people dancing like crazy during the day @ 4.30pm waving at the planes so many Italian posers though and they look silly with hairbands and tight shorts,it seems the island is overun by them and that terrible white stripes song they all sing some are sound but some of them are up their own arses.
That nite it was VIP @ Pacha Deep Dish,we all got dressed up,had some drinks as ever beforehand and got taxi to Pacha,we entered straight to the VIP,3 bottles of spirits as part of the deal,it was a fantastic nite,Pacha is aa beautiful club,Retro was amazing www.retroevents.com as im big into my old skool, went walkabouts several times met some cool people,i was fairly fcuked Deep Dish played a great set,we left i dunno must have been later than 7am i wanted to go to Space,of all the nites i was well and truly wasted that nite but disaster struck id only gone and lost my wallet outside, only had €20 in it but my bank card is what i needed, the credit cards were all but maxed out and the rest of the stuff was thankfully replaceable,it was a bad way to a great nite but thankfully my good friends sorted me out with money, all i can remember is waking up in my friends apartment in Figueratas about 3pm very hungover and dehydrated (felt like utter **** to be honest).
Day 6-Got home that afternoon slept for a while then met an American friend of mine who had just arrtived, she was staying in a hotel round the corner, went for a swim in the pool and felt much better, went back to hotel and got changed, arranged to meet the others outside Manumission as myself and American friend got taxi to San Antonio for the sunset which we misses by 5 minutes not to worry we went for a meal @ Blue Sea Bar/Restaurantwhich was nice then got some beers and chilled on the beach ,we then went for drinks @ Savannah a really nice bar with nice staff and good tunes, come 1am we decided to head to Privlege for Manumission, took a walk up the taxi rank via the west end which is what i imagined it to be tacky and full of younger kids pissed up but whatever your into yourself and all that, seen the queue for the taxi rank which was huge, couldn't find where the disco bus was going from so had to take another unlicensed taxi (they must make a killing) the guy was very nice though,we arrived @ Privlege sooo big it's unreal,we had guest list so no queuing, went inside and met the others quickly enough which was good,Manumission was something else expensive but it's a fantastic show they put on never seen anything like it..it's like a theatre in a club and as ever such a diverse mixture of people,we spent the nite just rambling around, things got very messy after a while though (too much too quick) but i have to say it was a class nite but how can Manumission justify charging €17 for a vodka and orange absolutely scandalous :x it's a bit of a blur but i recall getting another unlicensed taxi home where the guy driving was offering us some stuff which we declined (my last nite anyway)
Day 7-Had to check out @ 12 but it was 1 before i got out, felt very tired didn't get to say bye to the others who were staying (some are still there others in Valencia) got my stuff together and down to catch ferry to Valencia in Ibiza Town, waited for 45 mins in the scorching sun to board the Acciona ship, fell asleep on the ferry for most of the trip, then had to wait over an hour in Valencia port for a taxi to my hostel, scorching hot there as well, eventually arrived about 9pm,checked in chilled out for a while,i had intented to take it easy but with it being a Saturday nite people i met in the hostel were going out so i ended up going with them to a few bars drinking and got drunk which ended up with me and some Aussie dude and 2 girls from Belgium and Switzerland going skinny dipping down Valencia beach @ 5am some laugh alright id never done that before so late and so drunk and it was still 27 degrees so the water was warm, eventually made it back to the hostel where i had to get up for 12 to catch flight back to Dublin.
Anyway there you have it sorry it's a long one once i start i cant stop Valencia is a cool place not as touristy as Madrid or Barca and cheaper and id recommended it over them anyday..as for Ibiza, ill definitely go back but it's a lot dearer than i thought apart from some Restaurants, some of the prices in the clubs are scandalous and there must be some very rich people out there, would love to live in Ibiza alright but you would need to be fairly rich, hopefully go for 2 weeks next time and stay in a villa (save for ages as well) ..overall great holiday look forward to my return, lucky the people living there for the summer but some of have to work in the real world
