My first time in Ibiza!

Hi all,

Arrived back yesturday from what was by far the best holiday I`ve ever been on! This is a quick rundown:

Wed: Arrived 10am and got settled in hotel. Chilled by the pool most of the day and then on to Pacha for Subliminal sessions. What a party! Excellent tunes and great atmosphere. Back to the hotel around 8am for some sleep.

Thurs: Woke up around 1pm and spent more time at the pool. Off to Cream at Amnesia. Bit of a let down really... Trance floor was way too crowded and house floor was empty but kewl tunes. Left around 7am and back to hotel for sleep.

Fri: Planned to do Miss Money Penny`s but didn`t have the energy so caught our first decent meal in days. Paella rocks!

Sat: Chilled out at Playa Pinet. Nothing earth-shattering tbh.

Sun: Slept in and then time at the pool. 3pm hit Space with a vengence! What an awesome day! Terrace was excellent and great vibes all round. One of the best parties I`ve had for sure. Didn`t even use my passout and left at 3am! Got some much needed sleep...

Mon: Planned on doing DC10 but couldn`t gather the courage...
Fell in love with Bora Bora though! Possibly my favourite place on earth! Mates dragged me out of there at 12am to change and head off to Manumission. Bit of a let down and wasn`t really my scene. Left the guys there at around 4am and got some rest.

Tues: Got a call from my mates at around 9am inviting/demanding my presence at Space for the carry on. How could I let them down? 8) Got there around 10:30am to find them well and truly hammered lol. They left around 1pm and I carried on till 5pm but wasn`t as good as the sunday session. Was suposed to fly back at 11pm but was having way too much fun so organised to ccrash at some other mates for a few days and sent my room mate back that night. :D

Wed: Spent a fantastic day at Bora Bora and caught a proper meal that night. Early to bed.

Thurs: Another great day at Bora Bora then on to Pacha for Deep Dish. Great party! Left around 7am when music stopped  .

Fri: Mates were flat by that stage but I was still strong.(Could be the 8am quadrupel drop? ;) ) Finally dragged them to Bora Bora where we spent yet another great day catching sun and meeting strangers. Mates finally persuaded me to leave at 8pm, 15 mins before my taxi was due to arrive to take me to the airport. I was not a happy camper!! Even contemplated changing my ticket to the next day but even I couldn`t justify the cost/effort involved for what would amount to a few extra hours on the island. Mates did Amnesia which they said was a blast but I refuse to believe them `cos I wasn`t there :p

Sat: Arrived home at 4am where I crashed and burned. Slept most of the day and most of sun too.

All in all I had the most incredible experience and would go back in a second if I could. Spent wayyyyyy more than even I had anticipated but was worth every penny. Thinking of going back in Sep but can`t see myself topping this experience and feel it would only be a let down tbh.

You can bet your ass I`ll be back next year though! 8)

ps: thanks for reading this whole post! Lengthy I know but felt I had to share everything. Well almost everything... ;)

Don't worry... some of us wrote much more rambling reviews  It'd be cool to read more of what you thought of the events/places/etc. that you attended. Where were you staying, for example?

Agreed that Deep Dish is in good form this summer... at the opening party in June they were absolutely mighty.

So, planning next year's trip yet? ;)

Thanks for the interest dude.

I stayed at Hostel Norte in San Antonio town which was the cheapest accomadation I could find at the time. Cost £190 for both of us for 6 nights. It was very basic but had it`s own bathroom and a nice pool as well. Definitely stay there again if I was on a budget as it served the purpose of being a place to crash and keep uor clothes etc. My logic was that I`d rather spend the cash partying. And spend I did... Still doing the figures but I`m guestimating my trip cost me around £2500 all in. Gotta take into account that I sponsored my mate as well as he wasn`t in the same position I am financially but still more than I bargained on.

However the mates that let me crash at theirs the last few days were staying at Jet apartments in PDB and that was obviously way more convenient and much nicer rooms. Right next to Bora Bora too which was a win. But the 3 of them paid £450 each for the week with flights. So nice but not worth the cash in my opinion.

My favourite club by far was Pacha. Really amazing decor and layout and upmarket crowd. Enjoyed Subliminal more than Yoshi Toshi though. Space on Sunday was also fantastic. Reminded me of a day time club we had back in South Africa called ESP which was open-air and had a similar vibe. Day-time partying is the ultimate for me. So much more social and entertaining than the dark clubs. (Going to South West Four on 27 Aug btw which is supposed to be a good day time pary as well- www.southwestfour.com)

Bora Bora was also unbelievable. The atmosphere there is second to none. At one stage they played a remix of Cindy Lauper`s "Girls just wanna have fun" and I was thinking that if I heard that anywhere else in the world it would be sooo cheesy but just about anything goes down well there. People are so friendly, beautiful women to chat to, I could go on and on... Definitely my favourite place in Ibiza.

As I said Cream was a bit of a let down as it was so busy but the nitrogen spray was pretty kewl he he.

Was planning on doing Judgement Sunday at Eden on Sun as well but decided to stay at Space rather. Mates went and said it was terrible and assured me I didn`t miss out on much which made me feel a bit better.

Would also have liked to catch a sunset at Cafe Del Mar but just didn`t find the time.

Definitely planning next year`s trip and now I`ve tried so much I`ll only go back to the venues I liked and didn`t get round to this time. Can`t stress enough what an amazing time I had and have been on the phone to all my mates urging them to plan their trips asap. Truly a magical experience.

Sounds well done for your first trip :D

The best thing about Ibiza is, it gets better the more you go because you know what things to do and what you'd enjoy, which paradoxically frees up time to go explore the island more and see new things 8)

As an aside, where's that club in South Africa? I'll be in Jo-burg for a week next month and have no idea where to go

ESP used to be right in the middle of Jo`burg CBD but they closed that venue and moved to their sister club called Nexus which is in Randburg. I`ve not been for a while as I`ve been out of the country for about a year and a half but check out their website at www.esp.co.za

Used to be great fun back in the day. Another probably better bet is a club called Truth in Midrand. That`s arguably the hottest rave club in SA to the best of my knowledge. They held God`s Kitchen there a few years back and it`s an awesome venue.

I`ll pm you if anything else springs to mind.

I stayed in Norte 2 years ago...basic but clean and somewhere to shower. But now i'vbe experienced air con i wouldn't go back ;)
