My names Darren, been to Ibiza twice and this was my third and best year so far. I went with my pal called Dave, who's been once b4 and this was his second. Just a small intro for you all.
Sunday 17th July
Got to Gatwick at about 7pm after working all day. Still hadn't hit me that I was actually going to Ibiza again coz I’d had a pretty full on week at work. Checked in str8 away only to be told our flight was delayed by 1/2hour. Thought ok - time to hit the bar! Looked at the flights departure board to notice that every flight that evening was delayed by at least 2hours. Rather than get depressed we decided we’d just drink ourselves silly in the bar. Our flight was supposed to be at 9.30pm, but now it just said 'no info till 10pm', by 11pm we were still sat in the bar feeling a little pissed. Then finally, the gate came up, 2 hours late. As soon as we got on the plane, we were both asleep and woke up when the plane was landing, which was a nice touch as planes are as fun as salad for breakfast. Got a cab to our hostel/hotel in San An near the top of the west end, arrived in the room about 5am. Went for a quick walk to get some food and some extras for the room. Was asleep for 6.30am
Monday 18th July
Woke up and went straight to the beach in the bay. Saw tonnes of ass and very attractive females everywhere. All topless, with not a care in the world. I'm not a perv but sunglasses have many uses - lol joke!!!! Heard the Editors warming up for their 'Ibiza Rocks' night at Bar M, which was good, as they were practising for ages and we could hear everything from where we were sitting. Went back to the room at about 7pm for a power nap till 10pm. Went and ate near the west end, then bought 5 Smirnoff ices each and sat outside Cafe Del Mar and knocked them back in the space of about 30mins. Decided we’d have a night in Play 2 coz we wanted to hear songs we could just have a laugh to. Got in there about 1am, it was full of the usual football t-shirt wearing ****ers but the music was great. As soon as we stepped in we heard 'Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit', then 'Bit Patchy' (Eric prydz remix), we were shocked they were actually playing some credible tracks so we decided to stay all night. Left @ 6am absolutely battered out of our skulls. We must have had at least another 6-7 vodkas each. Just as I was about to collapse 'Walk Away vs. Don’t Let me Go' came on and the biggest smile hit my face and we danced, then stumbled home.
Tuesday 19th July
Didn’t wanna do too much today as it was the Carl Cox opening tonight @ Space. So basically everything evolved around this. Got to Space @ 9pm so we could get in for free. Noticed that no one in the venue had a drink in their hands then forgot we still had another 9-10 hours ahead of us so people aren't exactly going to be knocking back too many drinks @ 12euros each now. Loved Dj Simi's 9.30-11pm set, then a big cheer went up as the main man entered the dj booth. He played a great warm up tribal house set full of classics and it definitely hit the spot. then it was over to the main room to watch Danny Tenaglia till 3am, then Coxy till 5am. What a fantastic 5 hours they were - clubbing in its truest form. If you look up clubbing in the dictionary - those 5hours should be written in there with a sound bite. I wont go into too much detail about space coz I’ve already done a review on another thread. If you cant find it - Space + Carl Cox were blinding and the best clubbing experience I’ve ever felt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wednesday 20th July
Woke up very late after the wicked evening yesterday. Headed to the beach again in San An for some afternoon rest. After being on the beach for about 1hour and slagging off all those people who nag you all day about their night they’re PR’ing for, we see a girl walk past handing out free wristbands for Azuli @ El Divino. Just our luck as we were gonna go anyway and were thinking about getting tickets. So this fortune saved us a good 30euros entrance fee - RESULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went back to room at about 7pm for a quick 3hour power nap, got ready @10pm, went for dinner at 11pm, then headed for Savannah’s on the Sunset strip for some quick vodka’s. Got the free bus @ 1.30am and got in El Divino @ 2.15am. My first visit to this club, and I like it, its small yet very stylish with a great sound system. And what a Terrace it has too. There’s not many places that can challenge that view from the Terrace. We loved it so much we chilled on it for an hour and decided enough was enough it was time to party. As we walked in Seamus Hadj was playing a credible funky house set, then Kurd Maverick came on at about 3.30am. He was fantastic, played all the summer house classics including of course his own massive track ‘The Rub’. Then at 5am, Jo Mills came on, now I knew she was an ex-DC10 resident, but I really didn’t know where the music style was gonna go. Basically she took it to nasty dirty bleepy house with a touch of minimal thrown in. It was great and exactly what me and fellow pissed mate Dave needed. We danced ourselves silly for an hour then got booted out at 6am. Walked to the central bus stop very quickly as we knew we had to make the 6.30am discobus, made it just in time. - Great great evening
Thursday 21st July
The past 3 days had started catching up on me and was getting nasty rumblings in my stomach. The same feelings when you know that the day is gonna be spent sat on a toilet all day. Ignored these and both went to the beach to sleep and sort out the tan. Within 1hour of laying down, the stomach practically blew up and I knew I had about 1minute to reach a loo or a major embarrassment was about to happen. Ran to Pizza Hut near Bar M just in time. I wont explain the rest!!!!
Spent the rest of the day chilling as much as possible and decided we’d have a quieter night out and go to bed about 4am. First port of call was to see the sunset @ Café Mambo. Especially since Sasha was playing there 2nite. Sunset was beautiful as always, as too was the music Sasha played. He was great and I truly wish I could see him in a club in the near future. We moved on to eat and then we went to the 2 trend setting bars on the West End - Plastik & Hush. Two great bars which really are doing something worthwhile in this area. Great décor, extremely cheap drinks and great music!!!!!! I wish them the best success in turning round the West End. Ended up chatting to Dave on the balcony for about 2 hours, about everything and anything. I do enjoy drunk ramblings!!!!!!!
Friday 22nd July
Again woke up extremely late - which was good coz it meant we had an 8hour sleep. Thought we’d have a look at the new styled Kanya Beach Bar after we loved the place last year. Got there and chilled by the pool. I must admit that I really really liked the new style it has, I wouldn’t pay 15euros to get in for evening sessions but it still looked good. Across the pool from us was a 20strong stag do from the north of England. They were simply having a nice chilled drink, then suddenly a 25 year old American blonde stood 2m away from where we were laying. They started singing ‘get your tits out for the lads’ and she literally just whipped off her top so they happily cheered. Then they sung ‘ get your flaps out for the lads’ and she literally whipped off her shorts and was stood naked at the side of the pool, then dived in. They were all wetting themselves, as too was me and Dave - we actually couldn’t believe it. Anyway, she turned out to be a bit weird and everyone was starting to get sick of her being around. Dave hid her clothes under his bed so when she got out she would have to bend over him to get them. This plan worked to perfection and even better, he got his phone out and video’d her from about 10cm’s away. This then got blue toothed to the guys opposite.
Anyway, we headed back for a power nap before our first outing to Manumission.

YEP - Truly a surreal day in general
Saturday 23rd July
Only had 3 hours sleep as we wanted to go to Bora Bora for the afternoon. The bus journey took about 1hour on 2buses and we got to Bora Bora @ 2.30pm. By this time it was quiet, people sunbathing, couple of people dancing to the very loud and fantastic house music. Everywhere you looked there were beautiful trendy people, everywhere, it soooo nice not to see an English man in an football shirt. Anyway, I had a cheeky sleep for a bit then instantly woke up when I heard ‘Electro’ by Mr Gee. As it is one of fav tracks of the summer, I heard the intro and shot up str8 away and started bouncing around singing ‘ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba electro is fine’ etc By this point the bar area was pretty much full of people dancing, and the beach area was packed. For the next 2hours, we heard hit, after hit, after hit, pretty much every track off the Space 2006 cd and every track off the Erick Morillo cd. Fantastic 2hours, I had to dance about in the sand as I simply couldn’t sit still. Bora Bora is the ideal heaven - what a place to chill during the day. Great great atmosphere which exceeded everything I’d previously heard about it.
Headed back @8pm for a cheeky sleep again. Ate at 12am and then headed for Eden, since we had gained free passes. It was the Ibiza ****ing Island night, which was full of 15 year old football shirt wearing ****ers, but played some great music. The dj wasn’t too hot on his mixes but was let off coz of the tracks he played. ‘Raining Again’, ‘The Rub’, ‘Washing Machine’, ’Gehts Noch’, it was great hearing last years classics mixed in with the new classics. We decided to leave early as we had to checkout our room by 12pm. So we said we’d leave after the next track, on comes ‘World Hold On’ by Bob Sinclair. I turn to Dave and say ‘I’m sorry Dave, I’m gonna have jump about like a monkey on the dance floor’, at which point he laughs and joins me. The time is 5.30am, I’m battered and pissed, and its our last song in a club for the whole holiday, if not the last song I‘ll hear in a club ever in Ibiza. The biggest smile came on my face as the whistling part of the song comes on and I turn to dave to see him jumping about without a care in the world. As I put my sunglasses on and continue to jump smiling. That moment then, will be my forever lasting memory of Ibiza. No amount of money could have payed for that feeling.
What an fantastic island Ibiza is. Yet again, I’ve heard the best dj’s, play the best music, at the best clubs/beaches, with the best crowds, with one of my best friends. I will never hear a bad word against Ibiza, yep I’ve slagged off the English people, but that’s all part of what makes Ibiza’s character.
This will probably be my final year visiting Ibiza, as next year I have to think about mortgages and such things - same goes with Dave. But if I don’t ever return, I can honestly say I had no regrets from years of going. We’ve been to all 7 major clubs, Bora Bora, tacky west end bars to see Alex P, and also visited the new skool bars in the west end, when to Café Mambo many times + Café Del Mar, Savannah, Coastline and Kanya etc and best of all danced on the infamous Space Terrace. Took in trance, hard house, techno and house nights and loved every night I went to.
Ibiza truly is a magical place - Experiences I will never ever forget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
