Wed 19th

We had an early flight from Birmingham and an initial 5-am Taxi pickup, but this didn't bother me it was my birthday and it was being spent in Ibiza and we where hitting some mammoth closing parties something not done since 2003! Not one for English breakfasts I was tucking into one come 5.30 am and it tasted good! What always amuses me in Airports are the amount of people who have to buy everything they possibly can to have the 'perfect holiday' they must have increased their overdrafts by 30% just on purchasing breakfast alone  I am the opposite I try and keep spends down to a minimum, I've normally already broken the bank purchasing new threads for Ibiza! 8)

A quick walk around the usual Airport shops (Yawn) I get into Dixons and have a mad urge to buy a whopping sound-system for the iPod but resist, this is money that can be better spent over on the White Isle! Time to board and a nippy walk over to the plane. Disco heaven and 80s tastic on the plane which would normally annoy the crap out of me, not today though! Off we go!!! The Captain informs us mid flight the temperature in Ibiza is a tasty 27 deg C (Hooray!) It's only just mid morning when we touch down so the whole day is ready to be gotten into and our 9th visit to the Island in 8 Years has started and on the day of my Birthday, I am a lucky boy! :D 26 though

We get our luggage no problem, I always have some doubt in my mind that it might go missing (even though it never has!!?) Off to pick the car up fingers crossed it's not a 'Tin Can on Wheels' we say!! Well it could be worse but then again could it? The keys fob informs us we have a 1.1 Chevrolet Kalos, this baby is going to struggle going round the North of the Island methinks! :?:

After taking an hour to find the Apartments (LUX MAR) we arrive, we're situated in the last part of Talamanca which I'm happy about, we're a walk away from Ibiza town and far enough away from Platja De'n Bossa for me not to be grating my teeth with the thought of having to go through/near it!!! Although it is only midday we are allowed to check in as the room is ready, my initial thoughts are it's a bit average on appearance but hey you don't spend much time there really, we booked the place in the spur of the moment we knew we wanted to be situated in Talamanca/Ibiza Town/Figuretas so it didn't really matter and there was a big car park - perfect.

On inspection of the room it was massive and on the top floor with a huge sea view from the edge of Figuretas right round all of Platja De'n Bossa right round and back to us, awesome!!! The balcony was also huge with some sun loungers, perfect for 'the day's after the night before' and 'chilling out on for sunsets' Room itself is Joe average but I'm happy all in all. Add a 15 minute walk to Ibiza Town Port and a close 2 minute drive to all the main road connections.

Cloud pulls in on us after we finish packing so we decide to grab some much needed lunch and get some grub. A quick walk down to the main walkway of Figuretas is the perfect choice and we hit one of the many Bar/Restaurants on the front for some lunch. As far as Omelette go I am the King of them this one however wasn't up to my standards and I wasn't even allowed to add onion or it would have made the Chef 'angry' Manky salad and greasy sides too, as far as quick eats go this was not good.

We decide to take the 'beast' (Car) out for a spin as the weather is on the dodgy side of cloud and cloud, booo  It struggles FROM 1st to 4th but then it gets going aslong as you're on a flat  Oh god this is going to be hard work, but at least we have a car! 8)

We eat in at the apartment in the evening this might sound a bit boring considering we are in Ibiza and close to lots of fantastic restaurants but we like to mix that up with eating in for variety and cost. After this we head off to Superfreq Closing at DC10 and within 10 minutes of a taxi ride from Figuretas we are there! The new motorway may look ugly but it is a damn site quicker to get about the island!!

Not the busiest night I've ever been to but not in anyway dead, just a nice amount of people as we walk in I hear 'Sydenham & Rune - Elephant' !! Room around the edges to get to the bars and toilets which usually when Circoloco is on you don't get you just have to battle through and hope you get there!! 8)

This actually turned out to be a pretty good night a few Vodka Sprites later, like I said it was weird being there and it not being Circo but it worked, a bit like Timo Maas's night the past few years when you think of DC10 you think of Circoloco and even when you're there you expect it to be that night it's a bit weird.

Generally good tunes some a little 'too minimal' for my liking i.e. Dollz at play and Adultnapper but Mr C really ripped it up! Still on the Minimal vibe but lots of Deep. Druggy Techno which is just what I'm into - a perfect feeder night into our Ibiza adventure and a great Ibizian Birthday for me! :D

Tunes I remember from Superfreq .....

Sleeper Thief - Cenotes
DJ Gregory - Elle (Ame Remix)
Pryda - Genesis
Troy Pierce - Golden
Minilogue - Inca
Adultnapper – Juror No 9
Audion – Noiser
Underworld - Crocodile (Oliver Huntemann Mix)
Tadeo - Reflection Nebula 056n (Original Mix)
Dennis Ferrer – Son Of Raw (Loco Dice Mix)
Chemical Brothers - Do It Again (Audion Remix)
Raudive - Zeitgeist (Steve Bug Remix)
Radio Slave – Bell Clap Dance
Gel Abril - Very Wrong (Chaim Mix)
and someone definatly played one of the main tunes of the summer 'Deadmau5 - Faxing Berlin ' !! :)

Not really heard alot about this night this year but would recommend if it's still on at DC10 next year, plus the tickets and drinks are considerably cheaper than most of the Islands Nighteries. We leave around 7.00am a grab a taxi back to Figuretas to get some much needed sleep!

Thurs 20th

I fully expected us not to be up until mid afternoon but we made it out for 11am!! With the cloud killing any chance of Bronzing ourselves the day before we fully wanted to take advantage of it being a clear day and headed off to complete the relatively short journey over to Talamanca. As we walk towards the beach we notice something we don't usually experience in Ibiza (as we always go in August) SPACE ON THE BEACH! Yes we can find a spot that's not next to an annoying group of people smoking and making tits of themselves, this is great! 8)

We decide to get some grub mid afternoon and go for a wander around to check out which restaurant we fancy hitting, none of the places around the main section of Talamanca take our fancy so we take the long walk round to Sa Punta we have seen the sign in Ibiza Town many a year but never visited so this seemed the perfect opportunity. Once seated and refreshed I go for the rather obvious 'Calzone' and Kirsty goes for her favourite 'Oysters' After that re-fuel we head back to our spot we had earlier and as before it was just blissful sun with plenty of space to relax, iPod on for me and time to kill a few hours listening to some tunes and having a sleep. BUT

I get awoken by a Pooch who wants to do the 100m sprint up and down the beach 'PEROS NO' ?!?!? Not on this beach  Luckily for the dog he decides to go and spray sand over a group of girls further up the beach, early evening we head back to prepare for Cream's Closing at Amnesia.

After some food back at the apartment we take the short walk into Ibiza Town Port to get some Pre-Club drinks in and perch ourselves outside the Amnesia bar and as we do we order two Havanna & Cokes, sad I know but I was really hoping that they would bring out the nut mix they have done the past few years and they did!! A few drinks later we decide time is creeping up on us and take a walk up to get a taxi up to Amnesia.

This was one of the nights we were really looking forward to from having early Trance clubbing roots and having been to the Cream Closing Party in 2003 which was one of our favourite nights out ever this was a Biggie! I was expecting more of a wait in the Que. outside when we arrived a little after 1.30am but we pretty much dived straight in and hit the bar and a round of Havana Club & Coke followed as we got into the action.

We usually go onto the terrace first whenever we go to Amnesia not sure why that is but it's like force of habit for us and Axwell and Ingrosso seemed to be playing B2B with each other at this point. I wasn't expecting much more than what I heard on the terrace upfront commercial house with a splashing of Minimal oh and some classics you always get that at Cream closing! This was no different as Axwell hit us with X-PRESS 2's 'Smoke Machine' always good to have a rave to and one of my old faves this certainly still sounds as good as ever!

Time for some Trance so we hit the main room and it's now pretty much packed up to capacity and Ferry Corsten is on, from originally starting clubbing to these sounds back in 99 it was quite nice to be out listening to some trance again and Ferry didn't really disappoint he ended his set with an old classic Capetown - Pitstop 8)

Other tunes I remember from Ferry....

Bedrock - Heaven Scent (Greg Downey Remix)
Dubfire - Roadkill (Breakfast Remix)
Gareth Emery – More Than Anything
DJ Shah feat. Adrina Thorpe – Who Will Find Me
Marcus Schossow - Mr. White (Ruben De Ronde Remix)
Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia

As Ferry finishes with that classic tune we see PvD's head appear :D We're on the main floor right under the Cream Decorative Emblem so it's tricky to see up at who's about but you can just about see PvD and him glance a smile across the room. As I had said we had been to the Cream Closing in 2003 and it was unbelievable I don't think many nights will ever come close to that for me, we also knew what to expect from PvD at this night, anthems & big tracks all mixed in with current trance. What I wasn't expecting is 'Darude - Sandstorm' But hey I'll let that one go!!! PvD was good we stayed in for pretty much all his set and I enjoyed it, the main room was busy but not as busy as some other Amnesia nights I've been to in the past mostly Brits but that's to be expected-!! One track I recently thought I would love to hear out was a Chems classic and PvD did just that 'Hey Boy, Hey Girl' rings out, yes!!! 8)

Other tunes from PvD...

Lange - Angels Falls
Tori Amos - Professional Widow
Tranquility Base - Oceanic
Thomas Bronzwaer - Resound
Lyrics 'Take Me Down' Sounded Like Sarah Mchlachlan???
Coast 2 Coast - Cut Me (John O´Callaghan Rework)
Fred Baker vs Greg Nash - Atlantis City
Paul van Dyk feat. Jessica Sutta - White Lies (PvD & Alex M.O.R.P.H.)
Onova - Platitude
Filo Peri Feat. Eric Lumiere - Anthem
Alex Morph & Rank 1 - Life Less Ordinary
Dubfire - Roadkill
Gat Decor - Passion

We slipped back onto the terrace once or twice in between PvD's set to go and catch up with Axwell and Ingrosso and it seemed busier out there, packed!! I went up to the balcony to take some shots and watch some of the night unfold from there for a while and get a rest from the main room. As far as cliche party anthems go it was all happening infront of me 'Born Slippy - Underworld' at this point I decide to go and get another Havana Club to console myself I love this tune but I am in fact sick of hearing alot of classics out these days, a sign of getting old or tunage snobbery I don't know?! Towards the end of the night I find myself having no clue whatsoever who is on on the terrace Axwell & Ingrosso are gone

Other tunes I remember from the terrace....

Innesphere - Phunk (Angello Remix)
Dennis Ferrer - Son of Raw
Dirty South - Let it go (Axwell remix)
Gregor Treshor - A Thousand Nights
Winx - Don't laugh
Anja Schneider - Belize
Chemical Brothers - Do It Again (Remix Not Audion??)
Mastiksoul - S.O.S.
Samim - Heater
Axwell - Submariner
M.A.W. - Work 2007
Chromeo - Tenderoni
Misha Moor - Space
Shlomi Aber - Freakside

As the night comes to a close around 7.30am (A little early for the closer!) we find ourselves to be the last ones in Amnesia being ushered out by the Amnesia staff!! We get outside and find everyone pretty much gone, we must have been inside after for a while :lol; Outside we get talking to some Brummies and then we somehow end up in San Antonio in a Cafe, why? Our accomadation is the other side of the Island?! We take the 'Opportunity' to have a walk down to Mambo and have a listen to the sea whilst sat on the rocks down there, something we have always done after nights out when staying in SA.

At around 10.30am we decide to go and get a bus back to Ibiza Town and get off home, but in the end opt for the quicker option of a taxi. Over and Out for today.

Fri 21st

After getting in Tres late we never really expected to make it up for much of the day but we did about 3pm. A cocktail of Fruit and Orange Juice for the hangovers and we set out to hit Las Salinas for a touch of the late sun some Seafood at The Jockey Club and a sunset. After sunset we head back to Figueretas for a cat nap and some grub before we hit Azuli Closing at Space 8)

We decide to get some sea air into our lungs and take the LONG walk down to Space, on the way we hit Es Vive for some cocktails, Strawberry Daiquiri's all the way 4 of those later and we stumble down to Space. On the way I decided I don't really like Playa d'en Bossa anymore, the streets are full of aggressive louts :x The new buildings look ugly and hide the best part, the lovely beach which you used to be able to see as you drive/walked by, it's like Blackpool with warmth, you could even twin it with the travesty that is San An Bay which would also fit well into English seas. My first ever trip to Ibiza was to Playa d'en Bossa and I loved the place, sadly I don't anymore.

Luckily we can escape into Space to get away from it though! Thomas Schumacher is one of my favourite producers of the past 18 months so I was really looking forward to checking him out, Elektrochemie aplenty! 8)

I was quite surprised to see a bursting Terraza for this night, I've not heard alot about Azuli's season after moving over to Space from El Divino so I was suprised to see it so busy.

Thomas Schumacher was the main reason we headed to Space, I've seen Jo Mills a few times and although she is a decent DJ Schumacher is more what I'm into these days. He started off pretty minimal but 45 minutes in or so he turned up the pace, the atmosphere on the Terrace was also bubbling up. Schumacher rocked it 'Loco' so did Jo Mills although she played some of the more obvious seasonal hits there where some other gems in there too :D We barely even checked out Comunidad in the Discotecha!!

After a heavy night out last night we decided to cave in around 6.30am and head back for some Z's

Some bits I remembered from Mr Schumacher....

Elektrochemie - Caiti
TG - Cave The Speakers (Konrad Black)
Efdemin - Acid Bells (Matt O'Brien Remix) <----- This was played everwhere.
Thomas Schumacher - Red Purple
Juergens - Love It
Tom Pooks – Trouble (D-julz Remix)
Ambivalent - R U OK (Paco Osasuna Remix)
Elektrochemie - Mucky Star
Pan Pot - Crank
Paul Ritch - Nordbanhof

Tunes I remember from Jo Mills & David Piccioni....

X-Press - Kill 100 (Lost Heroes Remix) <----- How much does this sound like the Villalobos Remix of 'Sinner In Me'
Justin Martin - Nightowl
Underworld - Crocodile (Oliver Huntemann Mix)
Riley Reinhold - Lights In My Eyes (Patrice Baumel Mokum Remix)
4Tune 500 - Dancing In The Dark! Classic!
Andrea Oliva - Sombatiki <--- One of the tunes of the year 8)
Smith & Selway - Transit Time (Dubfire Remix)
Pascal FEOS - Bring the Beat Back
Booka Shade - Darko
Inner City - Good Life!!!!!!!!! 8)
Efdemin - Just A Track
Seph - Wooden (Guido Schneider Mix)
Dubfire - Ribcage
Telepopmusik - Love Can Damage Your Health (Dennis Ferrer)
Pryda - Murani
Planet Funk - Static (Martin Buttrich Mix)

Sat 22nd

A late one again the night before but that does not stop us from being up and out by midday, why waste that sun when you can sleep it off and re-charge on the beach?! We stop off at the Hiper Centro on the San Antonio main road for some supplies for the day, OJ, water, French Brioche, Kiwi's, Bananas and Watermelon Tuti Fruti! 8) We head towards San Antonio and hit the San Jose turn off 3/4 down towards San Antonio our aim is to get around some of the beaches on the south then finishing up on Es Vedra. The cloud is killing off much chance of sun but thankfully with a hangover in tow I'm glad of it for now!

We head towards Es Cubells from San Jose, we've taken a slightly longer route but my map skills seemed to be taking a nosedive with the way I'm feeling I could quite easily fall asleep luckily Kirsty is driving and not me. As we get towards Es Cubells we head down towards Ca Na Lluca and on towards Cala Carbo. We eat our Rescue Pack 'Food' on the beach there and the sun seems to be breaking through now, after a sit and a rest we head up towards Cala d' Hort. I've never seen this place so dead, but it's nice in a way it's more relaxed kind of how I imagine the 'real' Ibiza to be not full of tourists and overcrowded beaches. We find a spot up towards the end of the beach near the rocky backdrop and soak up some rays that have decided to come out for us.

We wake up feeling pleasantly toasted  and the sun is heading down to the side behind the Cliffs, we speedily get packed up and get on the road up to Vedra to get some sunset pictures, it was one of the main reasons we spent the day that way so lucky we woke up at that time really! I don't quite know what it is about Vedra that is kind of spookily magical. As you look out to it you kind feel pulled in by it, those that have been will know what I mean!!

A perfect sunset drops juts behind Vedra, superb :)

An easy one on the souls tonight we just opt for a walk around Ibiza Town and take in some of the shops and finish up in the Harbour for a few drinks. Each year the town seems to get even more top notch shops all selling trendy gear perfect for raping that Credit Card  But joking aside it really does seem to have a little of everything now, I could quite happily use Ibiza Town for all my fashion necessities and not a sombrero in sight

We decide to see if La Oliva in D'alt Villa has any spaces and luckily they fit us in. the Monkfish fills a hole for me. One main thing I love about eating at Oliva is not just the great food and the service but the atmosphere on that stretch of the Old Town, the ambience. Love it.

After a few drinks we retreat back to base and head home in El Taxio.

Sun 23rd

An 'early early' start to the day but we awake with flu type symptoms, shakes, shivers, aches etc  The Day before DC10 and Cocoon we feel like absolute garbage :!: Time to hammer the Vitamin C. We decide to take 'The Beast' out for a spin up to the North East and check out a few beaches up that way we didn't get to check out last year.

We head out from Ibiza Town and take the main road up towards Sant Joan then on towards Sant Vicente and then onto our first beach 'Clot des Llamp' & 'Punta Grossa' Awesome views all the way up from Ibiza town, as you know the North is hilly almost mountainous The views looking towards the coast are incredible through 8) all the Bright Green Pine. We have a walk down to the beach but with it being part cloudy and quite a tough wind it feels chilly and so head back to the car and move on towards S'Aigua Blanca apparently this is one of Ibiza nudist beaches, shame it was cloudy I could have gone for that all over Tan

We take in some seafood at S'Aigua Blanca and take a walk right along the coast up to the end of the beach, by this time the sun has come out so we head of towards Cala de Boix for a sunbathe. Like Calla Llonga but on a smaller less hilly tip this beach sits in it's own little cove, we had actually hit this beach last summer but it was that busy we had to go and sit on the rocks miles out towards the left of it, this time is was pretty much vacant apart from some Locals :)

Evening is up on us and we head out hoping some air might perk us up (still feeling crap) After a gourmet meal cooked by Kirsty we head out for a long walk towards Playa d'en Bossa not sure why but we are, some of our pals have hit the island today and are in Space so in the back of our heads we know there is a big possibility we will want to in when we get closer and hear the music 8)

We get right down to Space and it's decision time, we feel rank but want to rave we mull it over sat outside 'Club Playa d'en Bossa' Hotel I can hear the Sunset Terrace and to my Horror 'Faithless - Insomnia' rings out, that's not how I want to spend my Euro's I'm afraid. I know it was just one song but even last year I thought the music on the whole at Space was a bit spack and gone too commercial. Im sure in the Discotecha it would be more up my street, well I know it would be but with feeling wack we decide to hit base camp and call it an early one. On the walk back I get a call form one of your pals in Space to say they'd left at midnight as it was shabby

Mon 24th

After a rough night of feeling like absolute garbage I feel alot better which is good considering the heavy day/night we have ahead with Circoloco and Cocoon!! Up and out by early lunchtime we take the short-ish drive down to Salinas for a good few hours on the beach before DC10 and to get some much needed lunch at Sa Trinxa (I love it down there)

A first thing to note about Salines is the new Car Park, well not so much new but the fact they have installed someone to take cash for parking and have a barrier in. We did wonder why there where stack loads of cars parked up the main road all the way up to the Salt Flats so early on!!! One thing I find I am liking about September is the quieter beaches and restaurants, Salines is usually packed to the rafters with clubbers and posers alike but there is actually space to move down here even though there are still fairly big groups congregating infront of the usual haunts 'jockey club' 'sa trinxa' etc. We decide to go straight to Sa Trinxa for some lunch while it's fairly quiet.

I opt for a tasty Chicken stir fry in Soya while Kirsty goes for the Fresh Squid. Lunch done we hit the beach for the remainder of our time, a nice spot with plenty of space is just the tonic! We get given wristbands for about 3 nights King of Clubs for Tenaglia, an Italian night at El Divino and something at Heaven, we politely decline all three, It's all about Cocoon tonight. A few hours later and some much needed sun after the cloudy first day we head back to get ready for DC10.

We leave a little later than planned but I don't mind so much it's better to go with the flow in Ibiza rather than run to a schedule, although I am getting itchy feet as we have a group of pals who have been down since 4PM and I keep receiving texts and photo's about how it's going off down there!! Grrr!!!

We get a taxi pretty easy in Figuretas about 7PM and with the new road system we are in DC10 car park by 7.10PM, greeted by maniacs, loons, posers and wilting ravers it's mayhem, we are at Circoloco!!! 35 Euros to get in and cheaper drinks are two good reasons extra to the music and vibe as to why DC10 is one of my favourite clubs on the Isle.

Rumours at DC10 are strife about Cocoon and we hear all-sorts about the prices and the location of the after-party, Santa Gertrudis, Calla Bassa and Benirras!??! Most people use DC10 as their warm up for Cocooon, we certainly do although it's not so much a warm up but a main rave that seems to flow into Cocoon! But we like it that way :D

We start in the darker room and meet with some pals for some much needed drinks

I'm not totally sure who was DJ'ing in the Main Room as we where perched at the back drinking the bar dry whilst getting into the swing of things but I think it was Fabrizio either way it was good **** and I heard lots of top tunes, I love the 'darker' Main room at DC10, slightly more room to move (I said slightly!) and tougher darker beats, I heard loads of tunes I loved but alot I couldn't name but I did hear a few few I was familiar with including some of my faves at that moment 'Butch - On the Line (Oxia Remix)' 'Pan-pot - Crank' which both sounded dark inside that Cavernous Room :D

Some others from inside....

Ellen Allien - Go (Marcel Dettmann Remix)
Tignino & Leo feat. Mark Kerr - How Can You Feel (D-Nox & Beckers Remix)
Einmusik - 69
Ambivalent - R U OK (Paco Osasuna Remix)
Paul Ritch - Nordbanhof
Dennis Ferrer - Transitions (Sasse Re-Edit)

On the Terrace by this time Tania Vulcano was warming things up for the final part of the night, we only had a quick stint on the Terrace early on to grab a drink and have a look round for friends so this was time to have a good look at a late Tania Vulcano set. The Terrace is packed as ever but there's space to adjust yourself and have a jig (Just!) We move up towards the DJ Box hands full of drinks to keep us going while we brave heavy crowding  Tania Vulcano is **** hot and suits DC10 down to a T, obviously pretty minimal but plenty of big baselines and twisted beats to keep it interesting I go insane as she plays 'Pan-Pot - Charly (Anja Schneider Tex Mex Remix)' :D

Other tunes from the Terrace....

Pan-Pot - Charly (Anja Schneider Tex Mex Remix)
Le Noir - Eleny (Radio Slave Remix)
Raudive - Zeitgeist (Steve Bug Remix)
Tadeo - Reflection Nebula 056n (Original Mix)
Argy - Unreliable Virgin 8)
Jamie Jones - Panama City

We keep on the terrace until the end (Just after Midnight) and head out amongst the crowds to try and get a Taxi. We head towards San Antonio first before hitting Amnesia as our for fresh supplies and a freshen up. As we hit San Antonio I notice it is pretty much a Ghost Town, it's weird and eerie  ! Onwards and Upwards we head off for Cocoon.

Cocoon Closing was one of the main reasons we sorted the dates we did, we got our tickets from a Bar in Figuretas before we headed off to DC10. '55 euros or 65 Euros depending on what time you go' we get told. Well we opt for the latter as we're going to DC10 until at least 1am, expensive but not as bad as I thought it might have been and it was a big night for us. Later we find out they are charging 95 Euros on the Door!! Awesome

We arrive about 1am and get in pretty quickly, no probs as we first thought we would be stuck outside for ages, the 11pm opening looks like it was a good idea  Inside the main room is pretty busy already and Hawtin is on, as usual in Amnesia early on we visit the terrace and take in Raresh who is on warm up for the Big Guns

Luciano and Villalobos played pretty much just as I would have liked on the Terrace, dark, druggy techno. I was fearing a whole set of Minimal  but alas I was proved wrong. Even though the terrace was rammed I still found a decent spot up by the DJ booth with some room and a good angle to get some good shots of L&V and the lasers.

Some tunes I remember from L&V....

Fausto Messina & Dariush - Compulsive Disorder
Chica & The Folder - Angelus Novus (Ricardo Villalobos Ritus Mix)
New Order - Confusion (Ricardo Villalobos Remix)
Robert Babicz - Somewhere (Original Mix)
Ambivalent - R U OK (Paco Osasuna Remix)
Ellen Allien - Go (Marcel Dettmann Remix)
Piemont - Carbonat

By the time we decide to take a break form the Terrace, Hawtin has gone and Sven Vath is on, the main room was absolutely jam packed, I've NEVER seen Amnesia that BUSY before, it was just a sea of bodies swaying all over the place, pretty impressive to see looking over it all from the side podium. As I'm a bit of a tunage G33k I had thought beforehand I would rip my face of if it was played and Sven Vath did play it 'Samuel L Session - Can You Relate' Awesome, I stood up on that podium facing the main room and felt like a Millionaire, amazing how music can do that to you 8) Sven Vath carried on all though the night hitting us with a mixture of tougher Techno and Crazy sounds, Sven has his critics but I really do dig the old dude's sound. Another top memory at about 7am just as the first glimpses of morning sunlight hit through Amnesia 'Gui Boratto - A Beautiful Life' :D Incredible.

About 7am we decide to leave and miss the crowds and get some shut eye, another end to an awesome Closing Rave and some amazing music.

More Tunes from the Main Room...

Lego Welt - Disco Rout (New Mix??)
J.T.C. - Take ‘em Off
Jamie Jones - Strangers
John Spring - Ready To Broadcast
Paulo Olarte - Solo Tu (Isolée Rmx)
Steve Rachmad - Moog on Acid
The Youngsters - Third Knife
Argy - Unreliable Virgin <----- 8) Cocoon Anthem 07'
Samuel L Session - Can You Relate (Main Mix) <----- 8)
Troy Pierce - The Day After Yesterday
Martin Buttrich - Hunter
Dennis Ferrer - Transitions (Sasse Re-Edit)

Tues 25th

Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. Literally all day. I think I remember getting out of bed once and hitting the balcony for about 20 minutes only to feel the need to crawl back into the pit for a little longer. We pick ourselves up and out of Bed around 8pm and get ready to go and try and eat some food, difficult task considering how fragile we feel so what better culinary delight to opt for 'Curry' Hmmm.

Last year we saw a really swish looking Indian Restaurant 'Shanti Shakti' in Ibiza Town Port and it didn't dissapoint, great service, beautiful food and surroundings, we got a balcony table on the higher floor overlooking all of the harbour. I opted for the 'lamb dopiaza' and Kirsty the 'Tandoori Chicken' both dishes cooked beautifully.

One problem. We struggled to eat anything  Such a shame but I would definately hit this place again if I was feeling well. Very relaxed atmosphere, very nice eatery :!

We retreat back to the appts. after the meal.

Wed 26th

Even though we are still feeling a little tender, we decide to hit another of our favourite beaches 'Cala Jondal' I did wonder how busy it would be, I hoped it would be as dead as all the others we had visited so far :!: In past years in August you struggle to find a spot on the beach let alone a bed!

Car Park was dead when we got there, awesome. And there where just a random spread of people, loads of room to choose a spot though, the beach was pretty much ours :!: We found a spot central and stuck there for most of the day, only stopping the sunbathing for drinks and to write messages in the cobbled beach stones :D

Sunset hits us and we feel peckish so opt for one of the smaller beach bars Jondal has to offer us. The daytime food is off the menu now so can you guess what is on offer? 'Curry' homemade though  After last nights travesty I wasn't sure if I could eat it but it went down a treat and all the staff seemed very interested as to what we thought of the Curry they had produced  Yes we're English but we don't 'live' for Curry. Well maybe a little :!:

I have secretly booked us into the Pacha Restaurant Pre-Subliminal Closing. But as soon as I say we're eating out I think the secrets out, especially as we eat there before Subliminal last year :!: We hit Ibiza Town and take in some drinks at Bar AZULI. i quite liked the place, although it might have been a bit medicinal for me, especially in Ibiza Town. I prefer to be in a more traditional rustic feel/comfortable bar :!:

We take the long walk round to Pacha, we're booked in at 12.00am and already there is a Que. of people waiting to get in  We bypass them and go up to take out seats in the Restaurant. I opt for the mans dinner, I was feeling really brave and decided to go for the Whole Lobster, although at the time I assumed it would be dressed and with something a bit more erm 'appetising' Before I got my food I was asked 'Who is having the Lobster' ....

'Me' ....... I get handed some heavy duty pliers and a harpoon  'Oh no, what have I let myself in for?' ........ :!: I'd never had Lobster before and prefer 'Meaty' seafood so I thought it would be a winner. My dish arrives, I actually felt scared looking at it all but I was brave and tucked in, harpoon in one hand and pliers in the other I got to work on Mr Lobster. I will say one thing the meat itself was ok nothing groundbreaking though but the amount of meat for the amount of work getting it off I would not have Lobster again. Overrated. Kirsty went for a more appetising pasta dish which looked delicious.

After a few shots we decide to make our way in to the club, and same as last year we walk straight in no fuss. We'd just had 120 euros of food and wine for the same amount you would pay to get in anyway. If I was going to Pacha I reckon I would always do it this way 8)

Ok Morillo is usually hit and miss for me last year he was hit. I gave him the benefit of the doubt as he as DJ'ing with one arm, most DJ's would have cancelled 'SASHA' Cough etc. Out of all our Ibiza nights out this one was one of our most looked forward to, just a shame it never seemed to get going, the music was pretty dull, track after track of mundane electro. BASSLINE RRRRAAAAAPPP RRRAAAAP. Yawnage. Plus the fact the club wasn't at all that busy, well the main floor was but all the side bits and up above you could walk around not a problem and all other places had BIG Empty spaces. Not a good feel.

Tunes from Morillo....

Dubfire - Ribcage
Nick And Danny Chatalain - Me Resuelve (HCCR Remix)
The Martinez Brothers - My Rendition (TMB Main Mix)
Pryda - Murani
James Talk - Remote
The Migrants - I Thought That (Boris Dlugosch Remix)
Alter Ego – Why Not
Axwell - I Found You
Alcatraz - Give Me Luv
Deux - Xpand (Peter Gelderblom Remix)
Mark Knight - Drug Music
Run Dmc – Like That (Laidback Luke Mix)
Roger Sanchez - Lost 8)

After a bit of a Dance and a few walks around w decide this ones really not going to get going for us and we leave early around 5.30am It felt wrong going that early  but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and go if it's not happening  Even when we left it wasn't that busy.

Lights out by 6am

Thurs 27th

We start the day intent on visiting one of our favourite beaches Benirras. We hit the main road on towards Sant Joan and then enter the maze of bends and twists that lead you up the biggest set of hills you could ever drive up! Seriously high cliffs and sheer drops, our car was really struggling but in this case it was probably a good job it had no poke on it whatsoever! On the way round at one of the highest points we take some photo's through the Pine of the sea, we also notice as we start walking that the wind is almost gale force.

Upon parking up at Benirras we notice there is no-one on the beach :!: The gale force winds and a nasty looking sea seemed to have scared everyone away, apart from one soul who is on there getting attacked by sand blasts, all the loungers are up and so is the red flag. I've never seen the sea hitting the island so high, so high it's actually a bit scary :!: We get back in the Car and head around towards San Miquel to see if the wind is any less ferocious, not a chance I nearly lose my skin in it.

We head back homeward way and settle up on Talamanca beach for the afternoon, full sun just a little windy and occasional sand blasts to the face :!: After an afternoon hitting the rays we head off on a little adventure round the coastal road of Talamanca, little did I know I would uncover a niggling part of Ibiza I'd never found....

Right. I read years ago in a Ministry Book that this 'was the biggest waterpark' in Ibiza, I always used to ask people at hotels where it was and was it better than Aguamar, no-one know anything about it, blank looks of 'are you on glue'

I've been going to Ibiza each year for about 8 years now and not until this year have I finally discovered this place did actually exist!! We drove round to Sa Punta but missed the turning and ended up here by accident but I was glad we did!

Man this place is run down and looks like it didn't even get finished? We walked into the site through an open door but it was well spooky, goose-bumps style I was expecting a zombie to jump out at any moment! I think it was ridden with squatters to be honest there was washing hanging outside a couple of rooms, there were vans down at the back. We made a sharp exit!!

Off home after the Talamanca investigation to go and prepare for Monza!!

We set off for Monza but take a detour via San Antonio to hook up with some pals and share a few pre-club drinks. If San Antonio was dead last week it certainly was this!! All that remained where the hardest of Brit 'Scally's' I do hate that word but you will all know exactly the people I mean. After a few cold ones we leave our mates gaff 'Catalina' get ticketed up and then a Taxi shoots us off to Privilege.

It's a just after 1.30am a little early I feel for this rave, but Matt and Nick wanted to check this out from the start I think. A Que. outside suggests it might be busy upon getting in would say 'not' One fear I always have about going to Privilege for a night other than Manumission is that it always feels dead regardless of what the night on tries to do to help that. Monza have erected some kind of white sheeting that covers the main floor to try and make the roof feel lower and keep the vibe in, it doesn't eel as big inside as I used to remember, maybe that's because I was younger?

Anyway.... With the main room sparse to say the least and the music 'DULL' we hit the Cocoloco room, usually Privilege's saviour! Again empty so we decide to rack in the drinks and go and have a wander up into the Garden outside. An hour or so later we get back into the main room and Luciano is on, the place is a little busier but still feels dead. Again music is 'DULL' Luciano only a few nights earlier was banging it out. Not tonight. Same with Villalobos, very uninspiring and with the fact the volume of the music in the main room was set to minus 10 that didn't help the feel of it either. Towards the middle part of the night we spend a fair bit of time in Cocoloco I'm sure Barem and Raresh are playing, anyway it's good and more upbeat and 'LOUDER' than back in the main room

After a stint in the main room we have a wander Luciano and Villalobos seem to be playing B2B now and the DJ box is rammed full of people. I hear a tune that 'Is Ibiza'..... 'Octave One - Blackwater' a chilled out minimal remix sounds good 8) So we decide to get in with the action, a little while later all normality turns into madness. On the main dance floor happily dancing away an Italian dude decides after he'd finished his drink to launch it against the floor. Unfortunately it crashes against kirsty's foot slicing the side of her foot open. Despair. We're in a busy now Privilege main dance-floor and need medical help  I want to knock out the idiot that did it but that won't help anything. Kirsty rushes down to the ladies toilets. I wait ... and wait but after a while decide to just go in a find her to make sure she's ok. Luckily there is an onsite medic who treats the cut and bandages it up but she says it's in a bad way and 'will' need hospital treatment.

Kirsty somehow makes it through the whole of the night, we end the night in Cocoloco, bright daylight has been shining through now for over an hour, it's quite an impressive sight being in there as the sun rises, around 8.30am we leave.

I have grown a strong dislike for Privilege now. :!:

Tunes I remember.....

Octave One - Black Water (Remix???_)
Fausto Messina & Dariush - Compulsive Disorder
Ricardo Villalobos - Prevorent
Onur Ozer - Red Cabaret (2000 and One remix)
New Order - Confusion (Ricardo Villalobos Remix)
Tadeo - Reflection Nebula 056n (Original Mix)
Audio Werner - Getting Up
Ambivalent - R U OK (Paco Osasuna Remix)
Chica & The Folder - Angelus Novus (Ricardo Villalobos Ritus Mix)
Ricardo Villalobos - Mecker

Fri 28th

I guess you could start this morning off from the moment we left Privilege and the awful way it had to end. We hung out at the top of the main road with a few others, waiting to see how many taxi's dropped by before wether deciding to opt for the bus option. More and more people began coming up from Privilege and crowding around us with Kirsty's foot all bandaged up I thought it best for us to get out of the crowds and take the bus option with fewer people around, we took the walk down to the stop to the one between 'Bombers' and 'Amnesia' It arrives pretty much after we get there and we make out way back to the apartments to grab a change of clothes and get the car before heading off to the hospital to check out the damage and get the cut stitched up safely.

As we make our way there in our heads the only Hospital we know is in Ibiza town on the main road as you head towards the Port from the McDonald's roundabout so we head that way, it's all one way roads and your lucky to get a parking space down there, we kept driving round the roads that way and went past and pretty much back towards Figuretas!! Driving back around again we fins a parking spot and check into the hospital only to find that that hospital is the private one!! 120 Euro's just to see a doctor, we ask about any others and get directed towards 'vivers' which is just up from the Mcdonald's at the top of Ibiza Town.

This was difficult, none of the reception staff speak any English but we eventually get signed in and after an hour wait we get to see a doctor. The female doctor not gently rips off the bandage covering Kirsty's cut she takes one look at it and runs away to bring in a male surgeon, we start to panic a bit they aren't talking to us as they can't and we don't know what's going on but he does say 'I will stitch' His assistant asks 'anesthetic?' to which he replied 'no' I couldn't honestly believe he would stitch a wound up that big and on such a sore area without one but he did and the pain must have been dreadful, my hand is being gripped by hers as he goes to work I start to feel like I am in a warm up for a 'labour' run!! I was pretty much expecting a 'bad cut' but this was a massive gash to the foot  Why did this have to happen? !

When we get finally get out we realise our last 'full' day is going to be pretty much a quiet one after all this but it could have been worse and I drive us back to our apartments to get some rest. What an awful end to a night out.

About 2pm we wake and with Kirsty's foot not looking good we take advantage of the mahooosive balcony and loungers and take in the sun. One thing I really love about the sun in September is I can sit out in it without worrying about burning, I catch the sun like a mother****er so have to be careful in August but this is sweet. Rest of the day is spent the same way and the evening spent packing and chilling out.

Sat 29th

A mid morning flight home, the sun's beaming down on us but unfortunately it's adios. Back to Blighty.

I hope I haven't bored too many of you with this, I've always meant to write up a review and after 8 years of visiting the Island I've finally done it and boy have I made up for it!! :D

Roll on 2008! 8)

Top review, sounds like you had a blast! The tunes you listed after each night are really helpful as you have a similar taste in music to me, so i shall be checking lots of them out! Roll on June 20088)

It was great mate! Glad you have found some use with the tunes I've listed. Usually my memory makes a good mental note, but this year I was a bit geeky and put some in my phone

Let me know which ones you like

His assistant asks 'anesthetic?'
to which he replied 'no'
I couldn't honestly believe he would stitch a wound up that big
and on such a sore area without one but he did ...

ps:
great review !

Nice review.

Sonds like you got an awesome blend between clubbing and non-clubbing / beaches

cheers mate, yeah we try. the only bad points for me are when you spend a whole day in your room and then feel crap because you've wasted a gorgeous day but sometimes you can't make it out after a marathon session

Just got round to reading this today Sy, nice review! You got a LOT more out your trip than I managed this year by the sounds of things. Made me pretty jealous. Also interesting to note how completely different people's perceptions of a night can be. For me, my holiday was saved by Monza, whereas for you and Kirsty it nearly ruined it!

Again, shame my paranoia had hit record-breaking levels at DC10, would've been good to have a geeky chat about the tunes/clubs in the garden over a few Vodkas. I know exactly what you mean about Playa Den Bossa though, always thought id much prefer to stay there over San An, but i suppose in hindsight San An would have been a ghost town, like it was last September. Wont be able to go back at that time of year next year anyway, so Im thinking San An for July, but im not sure it'll be a cool place to be with Euro 2008 on though, so Im now thinking a Villa might be the way to go in 2008, or Ibiza Town kinda area.

Good read anyhow, brightened up my morning.

True - still sounds like you packed in fair bit more than most do.

Though should have hung with our lot - I wasnt allowed to sleep more than a couple of hrs a day or even think about feeling crap - its funny how your mind and body to a certain extent adjusts to the abuse!

All I ever hear when anyone was flagging were the 2 words "push through"

Yeah it was a shame we didn't meet pal, maybe another time! 8)

Not sure about Ibiza 08 for us yet, I fancy a nice relaxing break somewhere really s****y. Saying that at some point we'll probably end up back in Ibiza :oops:
