This was our 12th visit to Ibiza and just as eagerly anticipated as every other visit we've ever had! We flew out on Monday 23rd June which was also our 1st wedding anniversary (we got married at Cala Gracioneta on 23 June last year). We arrived at our base, Hotel Osiris, San An Bay in the afternoon. We've stayed here the last 5 times and its the best value for money we could ever hope for. Beautiful hotel, lovely staff and walking distance to anywhere in San An (bar M, Mambo, coastline etc).
We decided to unpack before going out for a wander/explore (not really, explore since we know it like the back of our hands!). We were just unpacking when there was a knock on our door - the hotel had delivered us free Champagne for our anniversary - bless em!
So we then proceeded to get tiddly on our balcony looking out to sea, we exchanged our anniversary cards and presents and then we abandoned the walk and fell asleep...!
We planned to go out for a nice meal in the evening got all dressed up...headed out ...and found out that the restaurant we headed to was shut on Mondays! We'd chosen it as it was where we had our hen night last year...so that was disappointing. We could've walked round to some other nice restaurants but we were starving so decided to just eat at the nearest restaurant and we'd have an expensive/nice meal another evening.
Tuesday was spent round the pool before heading out in the evening. We were heading to Tidy vs Advanced as we absolutely love Hardstyle (I know its not everyones taste on here, but hey!). We had mixed emotions when we saw that tickets for the event were €10 including a free drink as we thought it might attract a nightmare crowd...anyways we thought we had nothing to lose cos they were effectively paying us to go in so if it was rubbish we could leave! We got to Eden around 1am and the main room (which we really didnt want to be in cos it had Dave Pearce later) was quiet and the back (hardstyle) room wasnt open. We hung around drinking in the main room quite bored and then we eventually noticed streams of people going past us...the 2nd room was open. We bounced in there and it was (if you like that sort of thing...) amazing. It was full of really happy smiling ppl all night and we loved it. I was absolutely knackered from bouncing up and down by 5am.
Wednesday was a late start and a day round the pool again, bit of shopping and a quiet evening (ish), just a few drinks.
Thursday was an earlier start, breakfast and then a day by the beach. It was quite windy so I was worried aboout wind burn but it was ok. We had planned for ages that Thursday would be FMIF at Pacha but...at lunchtime we wandered down to Itaca for a bite to eat and were astounded to see that the price for Pacha was €47.00. I know space and pacha etc are generally higher prices than San Ans eden and Es paradis but we thought that was taking the p*ss abit. We debated for ages and in the end we decided to opt for Cream at Amnesia. We have been put off Cream in the past because once we went and we felt really unsafe due to overcrowding and another time I had my camera taken off me into the "camera cloakroom" and the girl running it had given it to another clubber and tried to give me a disposable camera instead of my £100 canon ixus. I had to stay behind till 9am on my own as they threw my friends outside (I refused to go home until they paid me for my lost camera) and altogether it was not a nice experience. As a result ive refused to go to Amnesia since on principle. Anyway we gave in and went to Cream and you know what?? We had a fantastic night-busy enough but not too busy. It was also a better crowd than I remember before - not full of drunken idiots jumping up and down together but happy people dancing and having fun.
Friday was a lost day...lots of sleep...bit of sunbathing...something to eat and then bed.
Saturday night we decided, would be a good night for our belated special anniversary dinner so we headed upto coastline for 8.30 so we could get a good table at the top to watch the sunset from. We had a gorgeous meal and the sunset was the best one we had for the whole ten days (thank you, god!) so we were happy bunnies. Lots of sangria later we staggered home...
Sunday was another day by the beach and then we headed to Kanya for sunset and the pre party for Judgment Sundays/Kiss da Funk. We have been regulars at JS for many years and this year we were gonna do WLS but it all went t*ts up because theres 1 DJ that has been a constant throughout our "clubbing careers" from Ark in Leeds to Sundissential Leeds to Kiss Da Funk, Leeds and thats Rob Tissera. He has been so constant in our clubbing lives that he even agreed to play at our wedding last year-we had to change the plans in the end, but thats how special he is to us! Kiss Da Funk were doing the back room at JS and if Rob's playing, we just have to go, so that decided that one. So we headed to Kanya said hello to Rob, had a few drinks, saw Spain win the Euro finals (what an atmosphere that was!) and then headed down to JS through the crowds of blaring horns, fireworks and cheering Spanish supporters - wow!
JS was busier than we've ever known it but it was awesome and Rob didnt let us down with his set in the back room. We went home that night with the biggest grins on our faces...
So to Monday, another recovery day...we've been coming to Ibiza for 12 years so it doesnt take a genius to work out that we're not 20 anymore and need our rest after a night out...!
Tuesday...beach again...more potential windburn! and then to Amnesia (we decided to give it another go!) ...Amnesia is sketchy for me but I know I had a good time and I found €40 on the floor so i cant have been that out of it! We did spend all our money plus the €40 we found though...but it was our last club night! At €20 for JD & coke its not surprising we spent all our money.
Wednesday was another recovery day/pool day and then we had a nice meal (dont ask me where!) and a few drinks before bed and packing in the morning
All in all we had an amazing time, the prices are steep but you know what??? we're still gonna do it all again next year! Roll on June '09
