What do people think? Is it inevitable in the modern world that we have to make deals with murderers and the like for the greater good?

I can't decide whether I whether I think 'we are where we are' and despite all he's apparently done if you base your judgement on calculation rather than emotion, he's useful, or whether on principle, you should never deal with the devil. I haven't read a paper for days so sorry if the argument's been done to death.

I suspect the thought is - "better inside the tent pissing out, rather than outside the tent pissing in....."

I have stopped reading newspapers - no matter which one you get its biased - I stick to Sky News now for a good, honest, fair all round view of current affairs these days :lol::lol::lol:

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
(well, at least it's not Fox News )

Honestly I have given up on watching the news these days - its all biased bollox anyway

I miss the days when at the end of the news programme they would always do a "and finally ....." and have a cute/nice/funny story ...

Now I just switch over after the news and think "f*** - that was a bit depressing..."

My mom makes a point of, at least once during my every visit, announcing that she's going off to watch the "blues". Get it? Rhymes with "news". Ha ha.

I mourn the death of objective reporting, or at least restrained and hidden bias. When commentary was limited to the editorials page. It all just drives me nuts nowadays.

His name sounds like a percussion instrument, which makes him fine by me.

He appears to have escaped to save his life as he sees it all going to rat sh1t and he has been excluded by the family so perhaps fears being made a scapegoat.

He is very usefull, however I dont think a drawn out prosection in the UK, that will probably fail leading to a few years in an open prison even it it were to come good is that much of a compromise position for him.

And there have apparantly been no guarantees nor requests for immunity.

Perhaps on this one we can have our cake and eat it.

His kids and wife still being in Libya is more of an issue in terms of co-operation i woulda thought.

............but in response to your Q, pragmatically you have to deal with the devil. Obviously the moral high ground is not an easy place for us, particularly in that part of the world, measured over centuries.

Back passage (?) conversations are always taking place. I think the northern ireland negotiations, not withstanding recent events, are an incredible achievement and involved lots of talking to the 'devil'.

I have stopped reading newspapers

I've started to take the news with a pinch of salt as well. They spin everything and hype it up so it sounds worse than it is so what can you believe?

It's a sorry state to be in I think.

I'm not sure what quizzing Kussa on Lockerbie is going to achieve (as reported on BBC this morning). We didn't manage to keep the one bloke that we had in prison for it so do we really think Kussa will spill the beans on it finally?

Some things are just nice to say
