Do people actually use their mobiles in restaurants still 8O So rude :twisted: I always switch mine off, why would you want to talk on your mobile if you're out having a lovely meal in good company :roll:

babs, it more of a problem at lunchtime with tossy suits on buisness yammering away, showing off.

this is great news though


btw, on a horrible note, it is likely that in a couple of years, once a new communication system is installed for 'emergencies', that mobiles will work on the underground:evil: 8O 8O 8O 8O :evil: :evil:

Ahh I get you, I know the types, those who are just sooooooooo important :roll: that their work can't wait for an hour and a half while they eat :roll:
 
actually it doesn't bother me one way or another when people are on their mobiles all the time..

why do you get so offended if someone begins talking near you in a restaurant or on the train??

I don't even have a mobile right now... but everyone else around me does sbut still dont' see why its something to be bothered by

Doesn't bother me either... as long as they're talking at normal conversation level (and not shouting)

Movies, theater, concerts and the like - yes, turn them off. Restaurants, who cares?

yeah thats right, at a movie or theatre... but cafes, trains, restaurants..
i actually find it funny more than anythign else when someone is standing in the middle of a dancefloor at a club trying to talk on the phone... can you even hear anything? :lol: :lol: :lol:

It might be a culture thing cos it's considered really rude in England. A lot of fancy restaurants in London already request you to be considerate to your neighbours while using mobiles and keep usage to a minimum.

nah... people think its incredibly rude here too... we have signs in many cares and restaurants... its just a weird personal thing i guess! (my friends think i'm strange too:lol: :lol: )
 
True... but if you're talking at the same volume as you'd talk to the person you're sitting with, why should it bother anyone?

Going outside to take a call wouldn't be such a big deal, but blocking out phone signals seems a bit extreme. In some businesses you have to be on call. If I get a call from a wire news agecy, I can't tell them "oh, I'm sorry... could you please hold that story for an hour? I'm eating and can't give a comment right now" :?
 
some people forget they are in the company of others when they are on their mobile...an event my mates and i always laugh at was when one of my local pub's regulars walked into the quiet lounge area to take a call and he blurted out "What do you mean your pregnant?!!"

That's Pep situation. Having lunch with him during the week is a pleasure, I always feel I'm having lunch with him, his supliers, his assistant and the client :roll: :lol:

In Moscow, you can get a signal in the stations but not usually between them (except on a couple of lines when the train goes above ground, of course)

In my home town, Washington, you have a signal on the trains underground with some carriers.
 
People talking on their phones doesn't bother me, it's the stupid ring tones that annoy.
