It's been well documented on this forum that many nights have r'n'b and hip hop offerings in alternative rooms.

It just occured to me that this might be due to the increased number of Americans that are now travelling to Ibiza?

Discuss!!

They are forced to play RnB and Rap because of european teenagers who are watching brainwashing MTV. MTV plays solely american rap music and tend to forget even the best european videos. Rap videos are OK for me but the music is crap IMHO.

I'm with you on this one. MTV is ruining youngsters music taste all over the world

So you're saying that the promoter of a quality house music night has to play hip hop and r'n'b in a back room to satisfy the mtv generation.

Why the hell would that crowd want to go to a quality house night?

That's what the west ends for isn't it?

I think it isn´t so black and white. There are good clubbers and there are bad fans of cheese and RnB. AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN :!:

I think this RnB cancer is going to grow in our holy grounds too. Pacha is taken already. Next to come are Amnesia and Space. You just wait and you will see ;)

You say it as if its a good thing...

NO NO NO :!:

It is a bad thing. It is a sad thing.

But I don´t want to shut my eyes and forget it. I want to fight back

Whenever I see somebody who maybe haven´t been around so long I just want to wake him/her up. We are losing now. Still House music has my trust. Put House music versus Rap and House wins hands down. But if you put enough money to back up Rap :?: I just hope better music will win...

oh god please don't let hip hop slowly take over everywhere! :x There's too much of it here in the U.S... I'm always so excited to go to Europe where I'll usually be safe from it!

Don't worry - house music is here to stay, whether u like it or not.
HipHop / R&B on the other hand will be sooner or later replaced by yet another crappy 'shake-ya-ass' mainstream genre.

i thought ayia napa was the place to go for all things like the above... look where that ended up! - died on its arse. (or up its own)

Speaking for my countrymen and women, I can guarantee that the Americans that go to Ibiza aren't going there to listen to rap and hip hop. Trust me, there's too much of that to be found here at home as it is. From what I've seen in my trips to the island, the Americans that go to Ibiza are some of the most musically clued in people you'll find anywhere. Just my 2 cents.

I have same opinion about clubbers from USA/Canada.

I just blamed music industry as a whole not individual clubbers. And if you look at deeper than surface you find out that biggest scapegoat is actually our own music industry in Europe. Big american companies have bought little european companies and now they are pushing their own product to Europe. That´s just the way it is - it´s called business.

Who is fighting back? I don´t know but it is time to do that before there is no music industry in Europe. Maybe internet is going to save us...there is a chance for smaller companies to manage.

I'm really not too worried, I know lots of people who love house music and they're not going to let it die in their lifetimes. I don't think there's really that much risk of hip-hop and rap taking over the entire music industry no matter how much big record companies try to make money off of it. I have more faith than that in all my fellow people like you guys who actually have good taste in music! ;)

How dare you!! I am american and I was shocked and dismayed to hear non dance american music in Ibiza. Gee Moore may have an attitude, but he aint playing Crazy In Love, ever!! :D

Interesting comments

I was interested to read today that Radio 1 in the UK which does a singles sales Top 40 chart on a Sunday is now doing a Top 40 download chart.

This was in today's times and was talked about as the 'saviour' of the Top 40 because of the massive decline in single sales.
